  1. Usually the injured can get away.

I have seen it happen three times. The German was a most severe case.

Usually after a couple of blows to the head with the chain, the Insomnia gang relents.

But sometimes, like the German case, the Insomnia boys blood lust overcomes them.

I would never go to Insomnia and when I walk by Insomnia on WS I walk on the opposite side of the street.

  2. I saw the Insomnia guys beat the crap out of a German a couple of months ago.

The three Insomnia guys came as a pack with each hitting the German in the head with a chain with a handle on it. One would go in for the hit then another guy one come in to hit. They all aimed at the German's head. I have seen a similar chain in a couple of martial arts movies.

The Insomnia guys chased him down Walking Street to Soi BJ and after their hitting caused the German to fall, all three Insomnia guys began kicking him. It was very unusual because like the head hitting each Insomnia guy took turns kicking the guy. The German received about 18 kicks altogether.

The German was extremely bloody and in a corner near the Jasmine Hotel. As the Insomnia guys were leaving the German started to cry. The lead Insomnia guy went back. I thought he was going to help. Instead he turned the German face up, and spread his legs and delivered the final kick to the German's "family jewels" area. Judging by the kick and the scream of the German, I doubt the young man will ever sire a family if you know what I mean.

This occurred about 4:30 AM. No police came. I don't think the German was killed because it did not appear in the Pattaya news.

  3. Anyone know if Dr Aree works somewhere else (cheaper) besides PIH?

No. She works only at PIH. She is married and probably does want to hassle with working at different hospitals. She is usually fully booked.

  4. I noticed that the prices on WS seem to have increased 10 to 15% the last month in preparation for the high season.

Based on my observations of WS prices, the retirement visa amount should be going up to 1,200,000 Baht. When the 800k was put in place, the average cost of bottled beer on WS was 80 to 90 baht. Now the new price indications are 120 to 130 baht.

The Thai government seems to like to increase fees dramatically. Remember the last visa fee increase.

I would think that within a year the retirement visa amount will be increased dramatically.

It seems destined that Thailand will become a high cost vacation mecca.

  5. I just had my teeth cleaned at Pattaya International Hospital.

The total cost was 1200 for cleaning, 100 for steralizing, and 200 for hospital fee or 1500.

The cleaning was good but it seems a tad expensive.

This was a regular cleaning (no deep) and took about 20 minutes.

What do the independent clinics charge?

Any recommendations for cleaning only shops that properly clean the equipment?

You might want to go to the hospital for something major. I don't think I would trust an independent clinic for any major work. But a cleaning is a fairly simple procedure.

  6. That's okay, the OP is just a younger version of this troll and hasn't learned his trade very well.

    SWINE.jpg

Thanks for the picture. I'll make a wallet size for my friends.

I was basically making a fashion statement, like not wearing white after Labor Day.

People can dress anyway they please. However, if you go beyond the fashion norms someone is bound to notice.

The people I refer to in my opening post were wearing hel_l's Angels and P-G colors.

These are some very violent gangs getting most of their money from the drug trade at least in North America.

  7. seriously, i enjoy the occasional kebab and much to my dismay, shops i previously frequented are now giving "tiny"

kebabs at the same 60 baht price or the taste just isn't what it should be but recently i discovered a kebab shop

on 2nd road, up from south pattaya intersection. not the first shop but the second about 100m up. (think they're

both arab run) anyway this shop is attended to by a pleasantly round Thai woman who gives HUGE kebabs. she

start with a 12 inch tortilla, not the miniscule 6 inch jobs some shops are passing off. it's FULL of chicken and

whatever else you desire from the abundant condiments bar. i'm not affiliated with this joint i was just so tickled

to find a place that was trying to run an honest business. i challenge you to find a better kebab shop? really?(he-he)

I agree the food is very good. They used to be located across from the Avenue. Back then the beef kebabs were 50 baht. Now the price is 70 baht. Very good service and big portions.

  8. What's up with the motorcycle gangs of Pattaya?

I was in a go-go last night and saw 4 senior citizens wearing all black with matching black leather jackets with the name of their gang on the back.

It was pathetic. A group of senior citizens trying to reclaim their "bad-ass" youth.

In about 5 years, they can exchange their cycles fpr motorized walkers.

  9. Hi,

I have an interesting problem that seems to baffle the TTT engineers.

My internet were out at about 3:00PM. Called 1103 on mobile and TTT indicated server was down. TTT indicated it effected a large number of people. In fact, when I initially called 1103 on my mobile I got busy signals.

The internet is now working but my phone is busy. When I call my TTT number from my mobile I get a busy or disconnect signal. When TTT called my TTT number, the engineer indicated he got a busy signal. When I call 1103 on my TTT line I get a busy signal. I have a dial tone on my TTT line.

The TTT engineer indicated I have an exceptional problem.

Any ideas on what is going on?

  10. I am looking for a window air conditioner. They are very popular in the US. A window air conditioner is a completely self contained unit that fits in a window usually with the compressor outside and the fan and vents inside.

I have asked at all the usual places, Home Mart, Home Place, Home Depot, Home Anywhere and they give me a blank look.

I have not seen any units in Thailand.

Window air conditioners are the perfect option for renters. Install the unit on move in and relocate to new apartment on move out.

Does anyone know if window air conditioners exist in Thailand?

If they do, any window air conditioner dealers in Pattaya?

  11. I need a new TV. My cable provider is Sophon Cable in Pattaya. Sophon provides an analog signal with signal quality varying by channel from good to marginal.

Should I waste my money on a new digital lcd tv? I have read several articles that indicate analog signals on a digital TV degrade picture quality.

  12. I recently purchased an all cotton bed spread and comforter at Big C for 599 Baht. The item must have been 6 to 12 months old because the plastic covering was somewhat dirty and showed signs of wear. The spread was in perfect condition.

I saw the same product today in the same Big C in nice new packaging for 1099 Baht.

    Talk about inflation.

  13. How would you rate the television reception quality (digital versus analog TV sets) on Sophon Cable?

My old analog CRT TV is on it last legs.

Is it would the money to buy a new digital TV set for Sophon Cable?

I am thinking a new analog CRT TV might give better reception quality compared to the expensive new LCD flat screen digital TVs.

  14. I am thinking about purchasing a La-z-boy recliner.

There seems to a number of dealers in Pattaya. I have visited the dealer in the Central Department store near Soi 8.

The prices seem a little on the high side.

Any suggestions on finding a dealer in Pattaya that will negotiate on price? All the dealers seem to be fairly large furniture stores. I find it difficult to negotiate price with a large multi-store organization. The prices seem fixed.

Also any suggestions on fabric versus leather? I think the fabric would be more comfortable but leather wears longer. I wonder how the high humidity effects leather.

  15. Hi,

I will applying for my first retirement visa in a couple of weeks.

I have over 800K in the bank. The 800K will in the bank over 60 days but less than 90 days. I like this OK for the first application.

Do I need a medical certificate? Do I need a copy of my condo lease?

Besides the immigration form, pictures, letter from the bank, copies of my bank saving book, do I need anything else?

I had a retirement visa for several years but let it lapse. I will be converting my 12 month non-immigrant "O" visa.

Every immigration office seems to be different, and the requirements seem to change every couple of months.

I want to make sure I have all the documents.

    Thanks

  16. Has anyone seen window air conditioners for sale in Pattaya? You place the unit in a window. The compression and heat exhaust is outside and the fan and controls are inside. They are very popular in US. When you change residences, you can take the a/c with you and place in another window.

  17. Does anyone have any experience with portable air conditioners in Pattaya?

A portable air conditioner is a completely self container unit with an exhaust hose. The compressor, fan, etc. are in one unit. The size is about a small refrigerator and weigh about 70 lbs. You can roll the air conditioner from room to room. I have seen several models costing about 24,000 Baht at Power Buy.

I am interested in cooling capability, operating costs, reliability, and good vendors.

    All comments welcome.

  18. I just purchased a new computer.

Do I need a surge protector or additional power supply with surge protector to protect my computer in case of power outage or voltage spike?

I noticed surge protectors and surge protectors attached to a battery at the local computer store. Some products mentioned the ability to even out the power supply to the computer.

What do most people use in Pattaya? Any preferred brands?

    Thanks

  19. I passed on the apartment.

I suppose if I knew the owner it might be OK. But without any knowledge, it seems like a big risk. You don't have any legal recourse in Thailand. It nice to know if the apartment becomes a real problem for any reason, the most your out of pocket is the security deposit and last month's rent.

I found another apartment in the same building. It is much bigger but the appliances are old.

It will be interesting to see if the apartment rents with the one year provision.

  20. Hi,

I noticed a nice apartment that wanted the full rent for one year plus security deposit paid upon lease signing.

I talked to the owner and he claims that many tenants have abused him in past by destroying property, failure to move out, etc.

I wonder if any else has run across such a practice in Pattaya.

Is there any legal want to protect the tenant in this type of situation? For example, can the lease be recorded with the local Thai officials. Would this serve as notice to potential buyers of a prepaid lease on the property? Could the tenant file a lien on the property?

To me this seems like a very big risk. A fool and his money are soon parted in Thailand.

Your experiences and possible ways to setting up the transaction to protect the tenant would be welcome.

I am totally ignore of Thai real estate law and practices.

    Thanks

  21. Am looking to get the Air Con unit on my Toyota Hiace van overhauled .Can anyone recommend a good place in Pattaya ? Maybe some where where they specialize in vehicle Air Con .

I would check the prices at the local Toyota dealerships. The cost may be more than an independent but the dealership might offer some type of warranty.

    A/c's can be complicated.

  22. Does anyone know of any good allergy doctors in Pattaya?

I would prefer to stay away from the hospitals. Although if someone has had a good experience, please comment.

Thanks from my swollen and tearful eyes.
