  1. Thank you guys.

Thank you so much for the info. Indeed, if so many people could fly so much domestically with the driving license, I hope I won't be different. And yes I will check-in online and print the boarding passes. But I have flewn many times from DMK and when going to the gates they always tell me I need to get a boarding pass from the check-in counter. They never allowed me to fly with the boarding pass from the check-in online.

Any clue if that has changed? Last time was like 1 year ago.

The other thing is, you guys flew during "normal" times. What if now they are eager to catch foreigners with expired visas or something? That's my fear, that they would insist in seeing my passport. But given the multiple positive reports in this thread, I guess it should be all good.

  2. Hello guys,

Thank you so much. Really. Great to know you could fly with the Thai driving license.

One issue though is the passport number in the driving license is my old passport, although I can have that old passport with me for sure.  I have a certification from the embassy about the passport change, also the old passport.

And also agreed, I talked with Nokair. They said "yes". I mean... it sounded not very convincing but said yes they can issue the boarding passes even if I come just with the driving license. So I am more worried by the people in the security checks etc. Maybe some will insist I cannot go through without passport. That'd be a mess.

And yes it would be great if I had some proof that my passport is submitted to immigration... but I screwed a bit that part. I'll try to see if the agent has something but I am quite afraid no. Let's see.

Backup plan is I take a bus LOL.

  3. Hello,

I am not a Thai national. I have a flight booked (was booked and the itinerary and planning was done before I knew this) within Thailand, from DMK to a local town. Unfortunately and by many reasons it happens that my passport will be in the immigration office right at the time my flight takes off.

Question: Is it possible to take the flight with the Thai driving license?

Thai driving license is valid, i.e. not expired, has my picture and same name as my passport. Otherwise I can obviously bring a copy of my passport with me, which otherwise is also valid, not expired, and has a valid tourist visa on it. I do not hold a work permit.

I contacted Nokair, they claim on their side is ok with the driving license, i.e. they will issue the boarding pass. However, I am wondering... in the passport / IDs controls in the airport... will it be ok? Has anyone made this experience before?

  4. From what I understood they set the sticker in the checkpoint indicating your destination province, that "grants" you to some extent (not sure which) a drive through, up till the destination province.

But hej... I saw things change quite fast so I'd be wondering if the story of the stickers is over.

  5. I can confirm. In the immigration they do extends visas if you wish. However, the officer told it is probably not worth since you'll need to pay the fee for the extension, and if you get for instance 30 days, you'll be getting less window than July 31st.

Other than that, does anyone have a clue where we can register to leave? In the last 24 hours I have heard 20 different versions and none works.

  6. What a pity. Wondering... is a controlled airport transit such a high risk that they wanna completely ban it? On the money side... it should be really interesting because the airport gets some income on airport taxes, without getting the burden of having incoming passengers that intend to enter the country.  I would think it's an interesting deal. And low risk since the passengers are supposed to leave within "hours" without going out of the airport.
