Some of them do. Many of them don't. I have been with more women in my life than I could possibly count. Many over thirty.

A lot of them didn't have kids. But I am talking about proper women, good looking hot educated smart well off chicks that stand on their on feet, not the average girl from udon and Pattaya.

Maybe we move in different social circles. I rejoice in our differences.

You sound full of it. Most do have kids. What kind of retarded barren women dont want them? Rejects.....

Well in my experience with farang women with kids you just give them (the kids) back when you walk away. Never a lifetime burden.

Exactly. Far less of a worry. People who have 3,4 or 5 kids of their own are stuck with them for decades.

If your partner has kids who cares. As long as you arent stupid enough to pay for them it's a non issue.

The kind of women who are 30yo+ with no kids are no good. They are barren.

My 50 years in Thailand has exposed me to all classes of Thai people from the highest on down but my comments indicated that most Westerners do not come in contact with Thai women who go on vacation; uses credit cards or if they do have credit cards do not understand the ins and outs of booking etc.

Many people on this board seem to think the girlfriend is stupid but I don't. Why don't we try and see the other person's perspective. She wanted to save money and thought she was doing the right thing. Instead she is being berated.  Any Thai girl that continues to live with Westerners that  gets no respect; is treated like cattle and not assisted with a better life is wasting their time. If she is smart- she will move on.

If somebody doesnt know online bookings for hotels come with certain clauses she must be very ignorant.

Online hotels sites have been around for a fair while.

Some women, not most. No I would never get married because marriage was created for the sole purpose of controlling people.

Most good looking women have kids by 30 or 35yo. And the ones that dont are likely to be stuck up or frigid or something wrong with them.

You planning to date ugly ones or young hookers?

I totally agree. I once was seeing a chick in Chiang mai, she had a son. I told her, I was not gonna have a gf who had kids from another man. And that I am not going to have children, until I am sure that I can take care of them well and give them everything they need. Then she says, that's selfish. Lol.

I am like, honey you are already a mother. You have a child(from a man you never actually loved; which is usually the case)but you aren't able to provide for that kid. That's selfish!!!

My thoughts: no woman with kids from other man!

Second, if the woman you have is not working on something(not doing something), chances are she's working on you, fool.

Third, not only that but an intelligent, smart woman is the bare minimum.

Like one that can stand up for herself and tell that text driver to go ..... himself. If she wants that hotel then nobody cares about where the taxi driver would like to go. Take me to where I want to go, idiot.

Most women over 30yo have kids. Often they are left with other family members.

    Have you never been married?

Westerners are taken for a ride to places they do not want daily in Thailand- It has been happening for  decades and will continue.  This is not a question of stupidity but being gullible and the fact that anyone with any sense would never pay 12,000 Baht for a condo/hotel  or as far as I am concerned never pay 6,000 Baht.

The truly ignorant person is the OP who expects a  Thai to understand how hotel bookings work and the cancellation policy.  In addition- if your only reason for 'supporting' a person is they are 'attractive'- you have some personality issues.

Reading over these answers reminds me of why Thai women became disgusted by Western men. They are selfish and arrogant.

Keep yelling at her and one day you will come home and she won't be there.

You think Thai men are better?

I can remember the words to every punk song ever written, but ferk knows what I had for dinner last night.

I can remember sporting stats from 20 years ago but can't remember what I did 2 weekends ago without a lot of thought.

I wasn't saying you had full-blown dementia or Alz....but it "could be" an early sign.  I thought you were asking questions related to clinical memory loss, especially when you mention things that are hallmark signs of actual dementia.  But if it's just normal forgetting--which we all do--then nevermind.  Heck, I forget stuff all the time...but it hasn't gotten that bad (yet).

I wasnt saying it happens every week. Just sometimes. My theory is the conscious mind focuses on important things while the non important things get pushed back to subconcious mind for a period of time. So even though you went shopping for 4 things these things are not of major importance so get filtered back in order. Thinking about the hot woman in aisle 3 or the big fight night on Saturday takes priority.

before booking the 12k thb hotel did you even ask her what she wanted? Did you discuss the hotel's location? Did she know where you were sending her?

Why didn't the Thai who speaks the language book it over the phone?

Why would a Thai want to holiday in Phuket or Patong?

    The whole story looks suss.

Not necessarily dementia, short term and long term memories are affected by different things, alcohol in particular impacts on short term memory, it's not necessarily dementia.

Alcohol is possible but this happens to non drinkers and is the reason why people often make shopping lists.

It's dementia, where the short term memory goes but the long term is still intact.  I knew a guy who had Alzheimer's and could remember back to his childhood days, but couldn't remember what day it was or what he just ate.  It also runs in the family.  If either of your parents had Alzheimer's, you may be in line for the same.

55555 not dementia. I know teenagers that do this.

Every person I know says they have done this.

    You think everyone has dementia?

  12. It's funny how you go shopping for 4 things and you end up getting 13 things but forget one of initial 4 items you wanted then remember when you get back home.

Yet you can remember events or conversations from 30 years ago. Why is it the mind forgets things within 60 minutes but can remember things from a long time ago?

I am like you Ken. I have been in and out of Thailand working, relaxing and retired since 1993.

I don' own a condo nor a house. The house and 25 rai of land are in my wife's name and were a gift from me to her and I have no interest in owning either. I will be 73 this month and when I die if I did own it it would go to my wife and son anyway.

I finally retired to Thailand 8 years ago and have no desire to live anywhere else in the world. Even after the currency drop last year we still live comfortably though Chivas Regal and T bone steaks are not on the daily menu any more.

I get my exercise most days by cutting the grass around the house and my wife's old shop, plus I also do my neighbours grass cutting too, but only for an hour a day as it is too hot.

I bake my own bread, make a lot of western food for myself.

    I read a lot.

I sometimes wish I could find the time to be bored but I have too many other positive things to do with my life and I gladly take every day that I get to me with my wife and 12 year old son.

I certainly wouldn't swap it for living in a rented place in 2 o3 different countries.

    Where do you live?

Cheers but we're talking about real life experiences here kahuna not philosophy so stick on topic I believe the examples provide all of us food for thought when looking at purchases, particularly large purchases and methods used for gaining the much sought after big discounts.

If the retail price is grossly inflated fake price did you really get a discount?

The current mkt value is the only real value.

    Rrps are fake prices.

Thanks and percentage wise how big a discount or how inflated was the cost  ball park final price and how long it take from start to finish and did they get the hump at anytime given their perceived loss or did they seem ok?

The real value of a good is current market price. What would it sell for if you listed it for sale and had a 1 month time limit on it. It it sells for less than what you paid its not a bargain. Grossly overpriced watches case in point.

  16. 1 hour ago, richard_smith237 said:

For *many items the real discount if any can only really be compared against purchasing the same goods internationally.

I once bought a Bell & Ross watch in Central World.

The 70,000 baht discount I eventually received made it slightly cheaper than purchasing the same watch in the US or the UK.

*Only for items which can be hand carried easily. Obviously not for cars, homes, rent etc...

You can buy a watch 3000 baht that lasts years. Can buy a mobile phone which has a clock on it.

Watches selling for big $ are the biggest con after co2 scam.

I have to ask why are you still here if it is so much better else where. No place we live will ever be perfect, it is up to the person to adjust.

    Food

    Women

I agree with him. The visa rules are silly.
