hahaha, it's so funny ! All those real men ! hahahaha

as soon as a virus that kills 0.001 % people appears, they rush to vaccinate like sheeps, and then, they pretend that they are no afraid of dying ! hahahaa, you really are liars or perfectly know nothing about yourself !

I am not afraid of dying, and I will not vaccinate as an evidence ! Anybody else with balls around here ? I CANNOT FIND !!!

You'll get vaccinated when your liberties are restricted, or you can stew in your company at home alone!

You've obviously have no consideration for the health care services, struggling to maintain a service. No doubt you'll be first inline at the hospital when you catch it....

Prices will vary not only with the hospital but also with the type of MRI (which part of the body, with or without contrast)

Yes, thanks Sheryl. The promotional package makes the distinction of specific regions to get the special prices. Hopefully the lumber spine scan will adequately cover my problem, which I believe is around the L4/5 & L5/S1 discs.

Do you have any recommendations for a strong sedative I could take, just to be sure I'm dosed up enough not to get another claustrophobia attack? BNH mentioned they have a "special medicine" to overcome the problem, but obviously I've no idea what they are referring to.

    No idea, sorry.

It was about 2.5 years ago.

Current price should be on their website?

    No problem, Thanks.

I'm already booked into BH Bangkok on Tuesday for their Lumber spine promotional package @ B9,000, in the Open MRI scanner, which seems very reasonable.

Fingers crossed I can keep my claustrophobia under control in that machine.

Maybe go back and ask for a dose of valium or something before going into the MRI

That is probably what the "special medicine is from BNH, unless they have a secret supply of magic cookies...

  5. Not afraid of dying, but being a Yorkshireman, I'll be totally p'd off if I don't get my moneys worth out of my new bike which I bought to travel far and wide, before the grim reaper comes to visit, and being incapacitated with sciatica right now reduces my odds.

A friend saw a picture of me on the new motorbike on my wife's facebook, and commented - "don't forget your not a young man anymore"! Cheeky sod, in my mind I'm only 26!!, Body disagrees but, as they say, "mind over matter".... ????

Good answer, I, like you, do not fear death, I fear a long painful process. I think all humans should have the option of requesting a pill. We are much more humane with our pets than we are to each other.

You could probably pick one up at your local pharmacy in Thailand... ????

My Dad died at 94 in his sleep, great way to go but I really dont want to go on that long.

Why not, if you're still of sound mind and body.

I met an 80+ year old one time, and he was telling about his latest trip he was heading of on, crossing India for about 18 months overland only. Had already done a few other continents, and had every intention of carrying on. I took my hat off to him.

  8. Right now I'd bl..dy welcome it! The pain and incapacitation of my current bout of sciatica, is some days too much to bear.

More seriously, as a young boy I was petrified, then when my Father died, I completely changed to a very relaxed attitude towards death, since there was now someone there, wherever there is, that I would be happy to see again.

Even though it didn't work for you you're lucky you didn't have to try BHP's old scanner.  lt was so small I couldn't get my shoulders into the tunnel! They did later purchase a bigger model and even gave me a test run to try for size.  I was able to fit, but never did get around to having the scan.

I also discovered there was an open model in Bangkok and thought about going there, but my doctor at the time said the open model wasn't as effective.

Maybe that's why they charge foreigners 50% more, since they've had to buy a bigger machine for us giants.

I've confirmed with BH in Bangkok, and they are coming back to me on price, initially B18,000 was quoted, then following my Yorkshire pleading they managed to find a promotion for B9,000, so happy days. The difference will cover my trip expenses, thereabouts.

Fingers crossed the open style does the job. I can't imagine they would use one otherwise. I think you were spun a line....

Try and get over your irrational fear. Your inherent tension might be the cause of your sciatica which is an awful affliction but comes and goes without rhyme or reason. I find the MRI noises very relaxing and I usually sink into a deep sleepy trance.

You are probably right, as I certainly feel more pain when I tense up, expecting the pain in my mind.

I took to humming "singing in the rain" in the shower to try to take my focus off the pain.... ????

They never got around to turning the monster machine on before I was annihilating the panic button, and getting out of there. ???? I surrender! At least, I would have raised my hands if there'd been room to move in there.

Forgot about the Dye  ! That Warm Rush like you’re about to wet yourself….But 90 minutes though, mine definitely 40 mins but only Brain.90 mins maybe Spine & Brain then ? or my brain so small !

    Ha Ha, good one.

I was advised for my lumber region that it would take an hour.

From my perspective, it's not worth messing about again with a tunnel type, even feet first with medication, since the open type are no more expensive. In fact, SS&NH are the cheapest @ B12,500, plus their consultation at B1,700 ( a tad high), but a small price to pay for the stress less procedure, plus you get a second opinion on recommended treatment, assuming I would go elsewhere for treatment, since the opinion of that place in the last post on the subject.

    Hell....that's cheap ....isn't it???

I don't think so, not when Thais are charged B8,500.

I could get one done in an open scanner through a Harley St. (London) specialist for under stg. 300, however that's where the reasonable competitiveness ends in terms of charges and treatment.

I discovered yesterday that BCH only charge the regular B8,500 even for foreigners, but it's a tunnel type. BNH charge B15,000 and will administer, I presume, a sedative which they call "special medicine".

  13. I noticed a topic on S Spine & Nerve Hospital 2 years ago, and would like to follow on from that earlier topic.

I recently visited Bangkok Hospital in Phuket with my sciatica problem, and was attended by the spine surgeon / physician Narote Treenarong, who appeared very professional, considerate and experienced. I was booked in for Xrays and an MRI scan, unfortunately I reacted with claustrophobia, being stuck head first in a tunnel scanner. As a result they could not definitively diagnose the problem, although the Xrays showed probable lumber spondylosis / spinal osteoarthritis. The nursing and admin staff were very efficient, helpful and considerate and the costs were comparatively reasonable - consultation @ B1,000, medical services @ B200, 4 x Xrays @ B2,430,and he gave me a 30 day course of Opalmon tablets @ B4,230. I was impressed that the medication was even slightly cheaper than my local and very reasonably priced pharmacy.

I was offered the option of an anesthetic to overcome the MRI claustrophobia problem, but the costs escalated from B13,000 to around B70,000 for the scan, so I have been considering the open scanner at S spine & Nerve Hospital in Bangkok for the MRI. Having read the post from 2 years hence, with the less than encouraging review of this hospital, I am now wondering what my options are.

I've spoken to Bangkok Christian Hospital, but they only have a tunnel scanner at B8,500, a fair bit cheaper than most. He was appalled when I told him they fed me in head first in Phuket, and assured me feet first was OK, even that I could have my head outside the scanner, which makes sense since my problem appears to be (from my Xrays) around the L4-L5 & L5-S1 joints in the lumber region. I'm disappointed that Phuket BH did not come up with this as a solution, particularly as they said they get hundreds of people reacting the same way.

The important issue at this stage is to get an MRI scan to facilitate an accurate diagnosis, since disc herniations and/or bone impingement of the sciatic nerve cannot be identified without it, and would appreciate if anyone knows of an open type MRI scanner anywhere other than SSNH. I've already checked Krabi, Trang and Phuket. Surat Thani or Hatyai would also be convenient for me in Krabi.

no benefit to Brexit? I think EU MPs will disagree, no more long tirades by Nigel Farage on the floor of the EU Parliament, no more silly vetos by the UK to promote their hidden agenda, no more UK civil servants sabotaging the EU initiatives for national pride, etc... ????

    it's actually a great deal!!! ????

What "hidden agenda" would that be?

As you know we are now a third country regarding trading with the EU resulting in companies facing realms of red tape and costs in dealing with the EU. whilst previously trade was seamless.

Its inevitable we at least rejoin the CU and SM.

Exactly what we expected, as we are no longer a member of your precious club, as you remainers so frequently remind us. The realms of red tape are all the 'NEW' regulations brought in by the EU to punish the U.K. For having the audacity to leave, hence my belief we would be better off on WTO.

I don't run an export / import business in U.K., so wouldn't know the difference between trading with the EU under the WA and regular WTO terms, but I would happily bet WTO is way less onerous.

Rejoin the CU & SM - in your dreams....

We have to rejoin the Customs Union and Single Market.

Every country trades most with its neighbours

Why? We can happily trade with the EU, without being in the CU or SM. It's called international trade! In fact, we already are, and hopefully in future, with far less interference from the peevish EU, when they deign to stop trying to punish the UK for leaving, and trying to make an example of Brexit - if ever.... (tongue in cheek wishful thinking).

It's mazing that there is no-one who can cite an upside to Brexit....ever.....yet they still think it was a good idea....what kind of mind is that??

Nonsense, try reading the whole post.

There's plenty, and they've been highlighted previously, but you lot are too stubborn and / or blinkered to recognise or accept them.

Don't ask what, because I'm not about to get into this fruitless, repetitive debate again.

However, just look at the UK ONS figures and see that exports from UK to EU have increased since (I think it was) 2016, (can't be bothered to check) and imports have decreased, with a corresponding increase of imports from other countries with lower tariffs. Sounds like an upside to me....

I seriously doubt she had the AstraZenica vaccine if her next appointment is in 4 weeks. 4 weeks is the required wait for Sinovac. AstraZenica currently requires a minimum of 12 weeks between doses. You may want to check it out. She may have mixed up the names, my wife does often.

Quite right my friend. I just checked, and it's me that got the story wrong, her next jab is 22nd September. ????

Private hospitals won't work like that.  If you want Moderna you are going to have to pay up front.

People will be offering 10,000 baht by the time they get a hold of Moderna.

Hmmmm, and I wonder who they'll give the vaccine to, those having booked at 3,400 or those standing at the counter waving 10,000 under their noses.... TIT
