‘Land of Smiles’ fast becoming ‘Land of Russian Crime’
Roel replied to snoop1130's topic in Southern Thailand News
"Good guys in, bad guys out" is just a propaganda slogan, not a real policy. And somehow I can imagine why certain people in power prefer a Russian 'businessman' in Phuket, who provides monthly envelops, over Hermann living in Roi Et with his 30.000 Baht German pension. So bad guys in, good guys whatever. -
Indian Tourists Brawl with Thai People on Pattaya Beach Road
Roel replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Kudos. It's not a common occurrence to capture a misunderstanding in progress on video in its natural habitat. -
Thank you. When I search for them on Google, I can see that they are located in Bangkok, but unfortunately, their website is not functioning. Nonetheless, I would still prefer a local recommendation.

I am aware that there are numerous art studios where one can commission paintings, such as portraits, landscapes, and abstract works. I am interested in having a landscape painting done. It doesn't need to precisely replicate a photograph but should not lean excessively towards expressionism either. Could anyone recommend an artist based on personal experience? Additionally, I would appreciate a rough estimate of the pricing. I have a painting in mind of 1 by 2 meters.

Roel replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
He says he has never seen his attackers before. The Italian man says he first met the twin brothers at a beach restaurant in the area about a year ago and they had become acquaintances. So we have to pick one?- 61 replies

Wissanu asks Thaksin not to return on weekends or public holidays
Roel replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's quite amusing how whenever corrupt politicians are caught in the act, with clear evidence of their wrongdoing, they quickly begin to cry out that the accusations and/or legal actions against them are driven by political motives. Unfortunately it often works. -
Since when is that?

Patong Police Investigate Complaints about Foreign Barbers
Roel replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Plus many Thais prefer to employ illegal Burmese as they are much cheaper than Thai staff. -
My assumption was made because I personally know five other foreigners who have faced the same issue as me, where their additional KYC requests were rejected. Interestingly, my Thai wife and her daughter have not yet been asked to provide any additional KYC information. I asked my wife to inquire among her Thai friends, and none of them have been contacted by Bitkub. Based on this, I speculated that the authorities may be making it, for whatever reason, difficult for Bitkub to serve non-Thais, similar to what happened recently with PayPal. So nothing to do with Thais-do-not-want-us-here. Surely it is a matter of new rules and regulations imposed by financial authorities that requires Bitkub to jump through some additional hoops. Bitkub is probably not happy with that, as it will cost them customers and turnover.

Yes. They asked for everything they already had, which I nonetheless delivered all again only to be rejected. Looks like they have been told to get rid of the foreign customers?? My Thai wife hasn't been asked for "additional" KYC (yet).

Just checking whether posts of people who realize that this is April's fool are deleted. -
Dutch newspaper interviewed the woman. She spent 5 days in a holding cell and then they let her go without - thanks to the Dutch embassy - giving her a yellow card. She talks about someone she was travelling with. Most likely the guy in today's article. According to her they crossed the land border coming from Malaysia and didn't realize they hadn't received a visa exempt stamp. Photo's, showing the exact same immigration officers line up, looks like they were taken minutes apart. Puzzling why this is presented in the media as two separate cases days apart? She is 28 years old, and the man in question appears to be around the same age, rather than 61.

Allegedly, lobbyists from the tobacco monopoly have requested a delay in the legalization of e-cigarettes until they are ready to produce them themselves. This way, they can target a whole new market of young customers and establish another monopoly by heavily taxing imports. Additionally, those who quit smoking cigarettes may continue to be e-cigarette customers.

Therefore, according to your reasoning, overcharging is acceptable as long as the price is lower compared to the cost back home? -
Police emphasise restrictions on foreigner-owned businesses in Thailand
Roel replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Besides that these businesses are usually not the huge Gems or Latex castles nor tour companies who own over a hundred mini-busses and coaches and dozens of speed boats. -
TAT Announcement for quality tourists aka millionaires, Do not believe all the negative news that TAT Vietnam is spreading about Thailand. Look at the positive. Here you see a picture of the entrance to Kathu waterfall. If you look closely you will notice something! That is right: NO entrance fee at all. You do not have to pay 10 times the Thai price as the waterfall is free to visit for all, even for white people.
