Been trying to contact Foodpanda for a while. Found only one telephone number in Bangkok that is actually meant for complaints about services. Number doesn't work. Then I found a Hong Kong email address. If you send an email it generates an automated message that "for my convenience'" I have to use an online form instead. Form doesn't work.
Anyone any ideas?

An optician, a 7-eleven and a Nepali tailor would be high on my list.

The van looks like it was on it's own side of the double yellows.
If a motorbike hits you head on, you would come to an immediate stop.
How can you see 'minimal damage' to the bike. It is not in the photo, and was four metres away according to the news report.
Actually the bike is in photo number 6. I was also wondering. Minimal damage to the front of the bike compared to the van. Looks more like the van hit him from the side, not head-on.

The press will hound him forever.
He might have got his name cleared but coming back here to a normal life is going to prove difficult.
Not so sure about that. He can send his driver or a bodyguard into the 7-Eleven to buy a coke on his way to a Bangkok night club where the owner will personally welcome him back because he knows the 200,000 Baht bill will be paid without an eyebrow raised. The hostesses will be fighting who can sit with him in his VIP room looking forward to big tips. Fellow heirs of the rich and famous will gather around him to hear from him personally how he got away with it all and to be reassured they can also should the need arise. Telephone numbers of people to contact will be exchanged. Then they will all have a good laugh at the ordinary people who can do absolutely nothing about it.
The press will easily be kept at bay and yes there will be an occasional photo of him getting in or out a limousine but he will not lose any sleep over that. It will quickly fade away.

So now the Tuk Tuk drivers and taxis will be ripping off locals instead of foreigners.
This should be fun ????.
It is even funnier to imagine that 20,000 tuktuk drivers have gone back to their home town Nakhon Si Thamarrat and are now trying to rip off each other.

Here it is not mu-arai. Just mua (เมื่อ). Mua pom ayoo noi. Or: Mua pom yang dek. Instead of mua you can also use waylaa (เวลา).

A not to be mentioned newspaper reports that this afternoon no one was longer allowed to leave Phuket. Orders from Bangkok.

Well most announcements and news articles have contradictions in them. It is the standard. What we call contradictions is actually Thai logic. If you point it out to them the response will likely be: farang don't understand. This is the so called Dunning-Kruger effect.
In the field of psychology, the Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with low ability at a task overestimate their ability. It is related to the cognitive bias of illusory superiority and comes from the inability of people to recognize their lack of ability.

Let me fix that for you:
Mr Kotchaporn Sangjan, 25, from Roi Et, who is a ladyboy with a history of having farang customers....

My first thought also was the title should read "Commercial banks OPEN all branches over the weekend to prevent overcrowding". On second thought it might achieve steering people away from a visit to applying online. My wife did just that last night and when she finally got through she was jumping up and down the living room that her 5,000 Baht handout is under consideration. Within 7 days it will be rejected or approved.
A poster was surprised that they use commercial banks for this but that is only for the application. I understand that the actual handouts will be done in cash only through the Government Savings Bank.

Indeed his money was legally earned in the Netherlands. The problem is he made much more then he was telling the tax authorities. Hence he was charged with money laundering and tax evasion. When it became too hot for him he quickly sold his coffee shop chain, retired and moved to Thailand. That should have been the end of the story as one would expect that as a multimillionaire he would be able to make any problems easily go away in Thailand.
But the Dutch government didn't like to get the finger and requested Thai authorities to assist them in arresting Van Laarhoven for money laundering and tax evasion. They did so in 2012 and in 2013 again with no answer. In 2014 they did a third attempt and by now the military were in power. They answered that they would consider cooperating but it would be a long process. Not sure if that was a yes or a no a police officer stationed at the Dutch embassy in Bangkok decided to write a letter to the Thai minister of Justice. Not sure if he was naive or mean or both but in his letter for the first time the drug trade was mentioned. Also Van Laarhoven's Thai wife Tukta had been mentioned in the official requests as a possibly witness to be interrogated. In the letter she was made a suspect. The police officer did not ask for cooperation but asks the Thais to make their own case which they then did resulting in a 103-year jail sentence.
Obviously there was public outcry in the Netherlands because of this 103-years. The general public was not really aware of the real charges any more and saw Van Laarhoven as a victim. A hard working coffee shop owner who had done nothing illegal but was convicted for it in a country where he did not even commit this 'crime'.
Now that he is back in the Netherlands he is in the Dutch mass media mainly pictured as a victim and a hero. Someone who accomplished to survive 5 years of gruesome Thai jail. But the main reason he is back is because he has the financial resources to hire a top notch high profile Dutch lawyer who apparently can pull strings with the Dutch minister of Justice.

So it takes a military trained person to shoot a gun? Wrong!! It takes a military training to know a shatterproof glass jewelry case can handle a small persons weight? No. Long pistol probably a silencer. Guns and silencers not hard to make.
This guy had a plan to shoot the guards. 2 would not have mattered. Also Planned to Shoot a few customers then he would get his 2 minute time to load up on gold. Gold up 8% in the last week. Thai poor are rising up. Of they didnt catch the big joke car shooters who says they can catch this guy. He probably used a stolen bike and did a switch where no CCTV. Maybe even cut many CCTV wires before this crime. He needs a painful slow death. RIP. Thailand, a great place to shop.
So what is the silencer for then? He thought nobody was going to hear the gun shots?

Today at Rassada Pier, there are a great number of Thai and foreign tourists taking ferries from Phuket to Phi Phi Island.
Who writes this rubbish?
I was at Rassada this morning and it was virtually deserted - only a handful of foreign tourists
TAT at it again?

I find it amazing that they actually think people are a danger to them. If she came in a Yaris and just dived with everyone else I'm sure nobody would even notice who she is.
I guess it's a ego thing.
You make a big mistake there Hans. People ARE a danger to them. Imagine they drove private cars with everyone else they TOO would be at the mercy of truck drivers in poorly (read: not) maintained heavily overloaded vehicles high on yaa baa and the mini-bus Michael Schumacher wannabe's and 11-year olds driving motorbikes on the wrong side of the road etc. etc.

Royal family member in the area perhaps? Police stopping traffic all the time this week. People are ordered to shut down their bike engine, get off the bike and stand next to it. When driving a car they leave you alone. No need to shut down your engine or stand next to the car.

Anyone know how to contact Foodpanda?
in Phuket
Posted
Thanks Cod Face.
No Help Centre button on the partner portal or any other means to contact to be found. Sent a message via facebook (although that function seems to be meant for the general public) and received a automated message, obviously in Thai only, that says they will reply when they feel like it.
Meanwhile found out that they charge a commission of 35% plus VAT which equals 37.45%. Pretty steep. I reckon that many Thai individuals who started selling food through Foodpanda after they lost their income are selling at a minimal profit perhaps even at a loss without realizing it.
