Tempted to say neither...but also both can be as bad, if one is stupid, choses the wrong types and makes the usual mistakes,  especially at the start of the relationship!!!

why not just send your chesty Thai cutie GF to negociate or purchase and you'll get the "Thai price??!!!"

Usually as per customs regulations in many parts of the world, the seller is required to include a commercial invoice inside the package.

And if there is no invoice or declared value in the parcel, why not ask the seller to email you one?

The best bank would be a bank not taking a banking fee, that is not making you pay just to give them your money!!...in other words, no annual banking fee just to have an account, with a , monthly or annual statements, and provide basic writing skills to write the immigration letter to justify funds for the visas!!!...

Second, no fee to have an ATM card or a Debit and/or Credit Card...

Third, hassle free reception of funds from abroad without exorbitant banking fees for receiving the funds...

Fourth, english online banking available with easy steps to pay bills or transfer money to other accounts in Thailand...free of charge if possible?

I doubt that such a bank would exist in Thailand?...

Proving me wrong, would be my pleasure....so in the meantime, the big part of the grub remains in the bank here that does all of the above for free !!!...

Pity...if the Thai banks woke up a bit, they would get substantial cash flow  in offering such services without the regular ripoff hidden fees and hassles....

...and there is also the skytrain option, if available nearby...

the whole Bangkok taxi issue would be a lesson of life to these boys....they will ultimately get what they deserve by sawing off their own branch on the tree!!

on the other hand, the Bangkok taxi chaps seem to be confident on their scams...maybe due to the numerous tourists or expats who either don't bother to argue or just ignore the cheating ripoff scheme, and just pay the wrong prices...

is it that the rules are getting more strict in certain areas, and thus are plainly enforced???....

or was this all just another simple attempt to racket for "tea money"???

All would fully agree, rude, mean, racist or other comment that could be against the law,  deserve a one-way ticket to the trash can....no arguing about that.

But could we consider or not,  that a bit of provocation or controverse can push to further thought and reactions?

Lets be honest, the forum would be more boring than it is if we didn't have trolls/didn't troll ourselves sometimes. I am sure most of it is harmless fun and we can all move on from it - we are all adults.

I always admire those who trust their passports to travel by post!!.....

No matter in which country of the world, if one can,  of course,  make it a point to give and pick up your passport personnaly and avoid having it travelling by mail!!..

I agree with the issue of restaurants charging THB 2000,-- for a meal for 2!!....As a principle, would never set foot in such a place in Thailand that tries to play the get global crap scam that all the nations in the world play and raise prices!!....

People are attracted to Thailand for the quality of the food at low prices...should these prices raise, tourist money will flock elsewhere, but there will always be fools who will pay such exorbitant costs that is not worth the money!!

Patterns of driving logic you (may) have learned abroad will not work in Thailand, so perhaps you should keep your (bad) advice to yoursef.

In metro areas in Thailand, I make it a point to drive well, well below the speed limit. Better of course if you are driven  by somebody else, used to the rash Thai traffic.

Another very tragic issue for all the parties involved.

Hopefully, it would not aliment a further pejorative approach towards farangs, from the behalf of Thai's!

Relax pal...you are in Thailand...where the baht can get you out of such minor offences...no big deal...relay and stay safe!

hire a private eye...best way to be sure perhaps?...or maybe give her a tapped cellphone!!!

that's what I did once here in Europe with a lady I strongly suspected was cheating,...the hired detective's work just confirmed....that I was fully wrong!!! (with a bit of magic phone tapping, I admit)

very true...we have similar issues here in my town in Europe....the local taxi crooks are trying to put pressure on the authorities and often surround Uber driven cars and try to intimidate.....but Uber still lives...just as you suggested, I also make a point to make the meeting place away from the official taxi stands, and never had a problem. 

Long live Uber and down with the worldwide taxi crooks!
