It's an open secret that Oz embassy want folk that apply in person to obtain photo from certain nearby shop to embassy.

Well, to apply in person would have meant making an appointment months in advance (as another member has stated here).

This was impractical with future travel this year.

Also, it was never suggested in emails from Oz Embassy that I needed to come in person or use any "suggested" photo shop.

I can't imagine anything nearby to Fort Oz !!

Only suggestion was to just email them the jpeg photo file.

    But I got new photos done...only B100.

Can't imagine the Embassy can/could get much cut out of that???

As I said my postie hardly delivers anything, I did get one of those tax res letters that gave you one month to reply, it came 4 months after it was posted, in the bin, got one this year same in the bin. To my knowledge my Acc has never been frozen :whistling: was yours actually frozen? if so did they e-mail you? thanks in advance.

Yes "frozen" in a sense that it restricted me to ONLY depositing.

Not able to withdraw or transfer out.

My Oz pension is paid into this (Westpac) account (they won't pay it into any overseas account ) so I needed to settle this quickly to be able to use WISE

As I said, a quick phone call to your bank's tax residency section (their number is usually provided.on the letter you get )should fix it.

Worked for me....less than a 5 minute call.

That will work fine for you as you already have your new pp.

Anyone that plans to obtain new pp should be aware that if you obtain the reentry permit at airport and subsequently obtain a new pp your local immigration office cannot transfer the stamp and will require traveling with both pp..

    Good advice.

I think doing it at the airport with pre~filled form and photo is by far the easiest  ......especially into a new passport as you noted.

Ps. Due to the brief PP photos interruption I had getting this new PP,  I now have over a dozen pp photos.

All perfectly acceptable to Thai Immigration ????

I can't even use my own address for mail as KOH CHANG post office NEVER delivers to my house. useless counts.

My real full Thai address is soooooo long that I use an abbreviated one showing house number, moo baan name and local district (Rangsit, Not Thanyaburi  ) .

Most (99%) mail gets to my house, plus I tip the EMS delivery guy(s) well.

Also, I changed most of my bills to Ebills, received by email. Much easier!

That is good news, last year must book an appointment up to 2 months before, AM only, and 'must' attend in person (unless medically unfit) no agents can apply. Glad to hear they have woken up at last, I Had to travel/drive to BKK from KC about a 6hr drive, stay overnight, get up early for AM appointment, I was knackered so stayed an extra night near Rayong, on the way home. Now just need the OZY banks to wake up.

Yes, the EMS method is quick, cheap (B45 I recall) and by tracking number you Know it has been delivered (Thai Post App on your phone) .

Ozy banks.....yes I went through the "Proof of Identity " and "are you a tax resident of another country " crap a little while ago.

Needed a notorised copy of my passport done by the Embassy in Bangkok (B1700) and sent EMS to them.

All finally accepted and my account "unfrozen"

The "Tax residency " query answered in a quick phone call to their Overseas Tax team.

Asked "are you a tax resident of a country outside of Australia ?"

    Answer NO.

Thank you sir, that's all we need to know!!!

Same happened to me at CW recently.

New British paaport came through surprisingly fast.

Only problem was they forgot to transfer my re-entry visa to the new passport, so i have to carry them both with me till September when i get my new one....

They apologised. But didnt want to bother doing it properly so late in the afternoon.....

I need one too for travel next month but will use the new PP and get it at Swampy prior to Immigration.

There was an American guy just ahead of me at IO submitting papers for a reentry permit and he was still waiting outside when I left

Earlier and quicker at the airport !

That is because they are nut case immigration office.

    TM30 is the current requirement.

His is the only weird thing I have come acrour there in many years.

Naturally I have a "registered" TM30 (screenshot) and take that to extension applications .

Even get a nice little blue receipt stating that I have notified my (change) of address.

Haven't moved since we built in 2008!

We use Pathum, but I'm afraid I've not tried (marriage ext.) earlier than 30 days.

Last year we renewed on the last day due to the UK PP office being a "little" S-L-O-W!!

Give them a call, I've always found them to be helpful.

Me too. Only a week or two prior to extension expiry date.

As I've stated elsewhere, never had any "surprises" except their "new" system of having to fill out a TM28, despite no change of address !

Their idea of updating TM30 data.

ups yes read that...but forgot about it. But if next year, if you draft a new constitution, discuss it, have a referendum about it and than a vote in parliament and let the king sign it. I doubt there is enough time and I doubt these senators will sign it so you would select new one to get the new constitution signed

The word you're looking for is Then, not Than......in so many of your posts.

If you like getting stuffed around by Immigration, up to you.

It's not the money, it's being able to avoid going near Immigration

As I said, the post was specifically titled "Marriage Extension....home visits".

Absolutely nothing to do with Retirement extensions......or agents.

If the OP wants to change to a Retirement extension then that's up to him.

I reiterate my earlier comment that "agents" are worthless for Marriage extensions.

By the way I have never had, in over dozen marriage extensions, an significant "running around" by Immigration and do get a house visit every year.

    No big deal!

  11. Here is a strange twist to this thread.

My one and only TM30  submitted was submitted by me online years ago using our house address and me as "occupier".

All I have is a screenshot photo from my PC, printed out.

BUT, for the last 2 or 3 annual extensions, Immigration (Pathum Thani)  have made me fill out a TM28 "Change of address " form.

The first time I queried "why"??

    Same address since 2008!

    Answer: "New procedure "

So each time now I'm  issued with an official receipt (mostly in Thai) stating that I have notified them of my "change of address"

They never ask for or look at my old TM30  screenshot !

I think it is their weird way of "updating" that my  address has not changed.

90 day online reports seem to go through ok....although often taking a few days to get the magic reply.

So, as has been stated hundreds of times,  every office has their own quirky ways

I suspect this young beer monster fell foul of 7/11's ridiculous alcohol serving hours. I drink about 2 beers a year and still nearly had a fit when they refused to serve me at 1 minute past 2 oclock or whenever it was.

Their tills automatically shut down for alcohol drinks exactly at 2pm.

A screen appears on the till monitor reinforcing that its 2pm and NO alcohol sales.

The staff have nothing to do with it or control over it.

    Glad you didn't have a fit !!!

    Every announcement is suspect today.

    Check the date!

There is not a single Thai that I know, including wife of 20yrs, all her family, friends and neighbors  who have ANY  idea what April Fools day means....to we westerners/foreigners.

I doubt the Governor of the BOT does.

And for those who commented about "most banks ",  BBL refunded ALL of the B18000+ illegally deducted from my account a few years ago (that time when thousands of local customers got hit).

    No complaints.

Isn't this similar to the automated phone answer systems that have people tearing their hair out in frustration? No human interaction, no-one to contact in the case of an inadequate answer? The world continues to go into reverse.

Or the "Live chat" you can have on a bank or airline website which NEVER provides anything other than standard one or 2 line autogenerated "answers" to the most regularly (moronic) asked questions

But 99% never anything exactly related to.your query !

    Pathetic !

I would hazard he did a border run to British Malaya, was refused re-entry to Thailand and just walked across anyway.

Nobody is checking the flow of ppl esp. in Dannok (Sadao)

At some point he tried to leave (via air) and this is where it's at now.

    My hunch anyway.

    British Malaya ???

I think they gained independence in about 1956 and thereafter became Malaysia.

I have an old British ex rubber planter mate who still calls it Malaya....and Burma is "Burma".

Pathum Thani want a new TM30 (and a home visit) every year for marriage extensions (not sure about retirement), but as usual each office has its own roolz ????

Luckily the "paperwork" also includes the wife so it's no hassle to do one there and then.

I/we do my marriage extension every year at Pathum Thani and in 15 years have never been asked for a new TM30.

But,yes, they do insist on the home visit.

    Strange in your case !
