  1. How to be a hub of anything without an educated citizenry?
  2. We can expect even hotter temperatures because, well, you know, there is no such thing as global warming.
  3. Honestly, the party said it wants to make adjustments to the law not abrogate it. Moreover, it hasn't happened yet so how to jail someone, or dissolve a party, for what has not happened yet?
  4. For a country that went around the world and boasted about how great their country was, there ain't half a load of people complaining when those they conquered believe them and want to find out for themselves. The Brits could have developed the colonies, in which case people would have stayed at home. I agree with the OP that Brit complaints about migrants and the US border wall complaints are both deflecting internal issues onto others.
  5. Another open and shut case of suicide.
  6. Focusing on the giant snaking lines of departing and incoming passengers would be useful. Where will they find the English-speaking people to deal with the extra passengers, I wonder.
  7. Young Thais want Pita to succeed but admittedly, it is still touch and go.
  8. OK, not picking a fight but just stating what I know. Wikipedia keeps track of Trump's false and misleading statements. Not that others don't lie but it is the sheer number that mark Trump as a winner. I noticed that Trump thinks Truman wasn't prosecuted for dropping the atomic bomb because the office of the presidency gave him immunity. I just don't know why he didn't ask why Richard Nixon didn't have presidential immunity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_or_misleading_statements_by_Donald_Trump
  9. I think most Thais know that the regime will try to get rid of him so no surprise there. While he is on trial for owning media shares, not for the policy regarding a change to section 112, I guess there may be a little bias because of his party policy too.
  10. Srettha: Dear President Steinmeier, please invite your high tech companies to invest here so we can achieve Thailand 0.4 4.0 Steinmeier: Certainly. Please tell me about Thailand's educational level compared to the rest of ASEAN. Srettha: Ummm.
  11. Just stick signs up in Thai in every administrative building and police station. Corruption: You will go to prison for 20 years! Also, create an anonymous whistleblower website that states that evidence, in the form of video, photograph/photocopy or audio must be uploaded as proof (no gossip).
  12. Does this, therefore, mean that Hamas also understands that any case of targeting Palestinian civilians were accidental and occurred during confrontation with Hamas forces? It is really pathetic.
  13. I had assumed that in America, like many other places, that if a judge were recused, fired or set aside, they would simply get another judge? Presumably, all documents would be handed in to the new judge and the case would continue based on facts and law. What bearing would it have on the Trump case except timing?
  14. Same here. The officer wanted my parents' names, address and phone number. I told him both were dead. Still, he wanted the phone number. I gave it to him and asked that if my parents answered the phone, please let me know. He nearly fell off his chair.
  15. Tend to agree. But also, for security purposes, passports are harder to counterfeit.
  16. I applied for the pink card following receipt of permanent residence. CW immigration told me I could use it as ID and I have at hotels outside Bangkok. Since then, I converted both social security number and tax number to the pink card number (one number, three uses) hence making life more convenient. Easy to carry in the wallet. I know some banks want the passport, mainly because they haven't been told about the pink card.
  17. Since independence, America has only had about 20 years of peace. Somehow, I am not surprised. However, I just hope that Europe doesn't support it.
  18. Thai politicians. Always "confident", never cautious, aware or prepared.
  19. I am surprised more pro-Trump supporters aren't clamoring to defend his call for presidential immunity. After all, he said it, not the liberal left.
  20. He has just cottoned on that if Thailand is the only ASEAN country to raise wages it will lose out to other cheap labor countries. Singapore is in ASEAN and wages there are appropriate for their level of development. Also, the education level is higher than Thailand.
  21. It must take time to open one of those numbers accounts.
  22. I voted in 1975 to join the Economic Community, only to not be allowed to vote whether to leave the EU. Voting is not fun when your vote doesn't count.
