Streamlined Immigration Procedures Implemented at Suvarnabhumi Airport for New Year's Season
I registered my passport in the past to use the automatic gates in and out. I have PR. And a new passport. Do we still have to register to go in and out of the country or not?

Israel losing global support over Gaza bombing, Biden says
How many wars did not have civilian deaths? No one likes to see this. Remember Arthur 'Bomber' Harris? No one likes what he did. Was he wrong Firebombing civilians? Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed thousands of civilians. Was that wrong? I wish Israel would cut the heads off Hamas leadership instead of bomb civilians. Their top three leaders supposedly live in luxury in Qatar with $11billion in wealth. What about them?

7 police surrender over money extortion while police spy charged with rape
I wonder what evidence they have, besides their testimony? I think the couple can now expect a tougher sentence for embarrassing the police.

Electric dreams charge ahead: Aiming for a ‘shocking’ 359,000 EVs in the next year
The car in the photo has no side windows. Interesting.

Homosexual TV shows, movies
There is always channel switching, or turning off the TV and listening to Elgar for bringing back that manly feeling

Embrace life now we are old
The best thing about getting old is realizing that nothing else matters. Much better.

Embrace life now we are old
When I was given the option to retire, I asked to be allowed to continue as the office allows me to meet people (and the work is fun). A social life is the key to longevity, so bowls would be fine (if they had it in Bangkok) as it allows you to meet and interact. Holding a party at my place tomorrow with young colleagues as it is part of the social life we oldies need. Regarding music, I once had a chat with the music critic of the Bangkok Post (he only seemed to discuss endless classical music "cover" versions) and asked why he thought people switched their musical taste to Beethoven immediately upon reaching 60, after growing up with Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC etc. Just a smile, then he walked away.

Experts say lowest ever PISA score is a wakeup call for Thailand’s failing education system
Yes, that is the sensible thing to do. A pity the Thai partner and nephews make it so difficult not to care.

Revolutionary roadmap revealed: Thailand’s expressway blitz to slash emissions
The SRT has been talking about double track railroads for decades. A bullet rain was promised for 2023. More railroads would lower the carbon footprint, especially if electrified. I remember talk of reintroducing electric trams years ago. I can’t understand who made them think roads were the way to go.

Watanya disassociates from new Democrat leadership but does not quit
I believe she has not fulfilled the requirement of the length of time in the party. Wasn’t this mentioned in a previous article?

Experts say lowest ever PISA score is a wakeup call for Thailand’s failing education system
Once had a chat with a permanent secretary of the ministry of education. He was excited after returning from Sweden. Swedes speak excellent English and tv there shows the BBC without translation. i suggested he implement English TV entertainment channels here. He became serious. We are Thai, he said. We are proud of our language and have no need for English tv here. A few minutes later he mentioned that his son had got into a US university and would I help him practice English before leaving. Yes, the elite don’t want the kids of ordinary people to achieve high standards in order to ensure their own kids are a rung above. There is no way to change this. Rich parents want their children to inherit Thailand.

Thailand’s tourism authority plans strategy revamp to boost visitor spending
Trying to encourage Chinese tourists to come here by arresting a Chinese influencer is probably going to backfire. There's a reason they're called influencers. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/12/13/travel/chinese-influencer-tourist-thailand-tiktok-video-intl-hnk/index.html

PM Commits to Stamping Out Pork Smuggling
Just lower pork prices and the smuggling won't be worth it.

Journalist Seriously Injured After Getting Blasted by Shotgun in Pattaya
That journalists are always in peril from people they investigate. I hope the poor guy recovers but it looks like he may have lost an eye.

Democrats cut ties with their 77-year past: what’s next for Thailand’s oldest party?
Not sure the Democrat Party ever represented democracy. This may be one of the reasons no one voted for them. They were what I would call the status quo (not the rock group).

Taiwan seeking answers over hit and run death in Bangkok
Very unusual for a private hospital to refuse a "rich foreigner" . Usually, they would dispense paracetamol at the least. Maybe there is more to the story.

Corrections Dept Told To Transfer Thaksin From Police Hospital To Army Barracks
Wondering what will happen when Thaksin is eventually released. Could he be the center of political storms or accepted as a kingmaker?

Thailand to move away from foreign tourism and rely more on home travellers in the latest TAT masterplan
If the economy relies so heavily on tourism, shouldn’t the government diversify? Where is the AI development here? The Thai designed EVs? The high tech industries? Could it be the lack of investment into education?

PM Shrugs Off Questions About Corrections Dept’s Latest Regulation For Thaksin
I may be wrong but don’t developed countries have a provision for house arrest and electronic ankle bracelets? Oh, you mean for anyone except Thaksin?

Parent’s tutor requirements spark online debate over Rajabhat University
I understand, but having worked in Thai companies for 30 years, I am often left with choosing the Thai candidate who did a masters in the USA or U.K. I do admit that Chula Arts graduates are a preference when only a bachelor degree and good communication skills are required. I am sure there are good graduates, but have you ever wondered why Thailand is still a developing economy? If not poor education, then what?

Parent’s tutor requirements spark online debate over Rajabhat University
So they do have to study in the UK or US? Why not Thailand?

Thai minister heats up COP28 with climate change commitment
Thailand makes promises at every COP meeting and then fails to meet their stated aims. Not that they are alone in this.

Parent’s tutor requirements spark online debate over Rajabhat University
Graduates of any Thai educational institution would be suspect .

New minimum wages are too low and need review : PM
It's a hairy situation I guess. Raise it substantially and expect layoffs or price rises to compensate. Again, education is so bad, people are only suitable for shops and labor. If any prime minister days he will raise education levels in one term, he is lying or foolish
