Headline is a bit misleading, in that for 3 months during low season, Russian tourists will be able to enter Thailand visa free for a period of 60 days. They are currently permitted to enter visa free for a period of 90 days.

Why doesn’t he apply for a visa in Norway? If he gets one surely he will get into Thailand? If he doesn’t get one he can see if the ladies in Cambodia, Vietnam or the Philippines are more submissive!

When the lady tried to pick up the bag the monkey tried to attack her. I worked offshore Songkhla in the Gulf of Thailand. During one crane basket transfer from the boat to the rig, I looked down as we lifted up and the boat moved away from under us. There was a large whale shark there but more ominously it was accompanied by two large oceanic white tips!

Depends on your lifestyle within Thailand. Live a simple life like the locals, likely have an extended life. My wife’s grandmother was over 100 when she died. Drinking daily, smoking, chasing young ladies, eating unhealthily? I think you know the answer to that.

Big bikes used to be the vehicle of choice for ex-pats mainly and often on the routes South from Hua Hin to oil related destinations, where they worked or transited offshore to the Gulf of Thailand. After being out of Thailand for majority of the Covid period, I see on returning that a lot of locals have big bikes now and indeed some very shapely young leather clad ladies amongst them! I suspect that road users in general are not used to the speed and lower visibility of these bikes, in common with many other countries. My wife’s male cousin owned a big bike several years ago, in the Ubon Ratchathani area. Unfortunately he too fell victim in a road accident, leaving a young wife and two young kids without a husband and father.

Flights from Almaty to both Bangkok and Phuket. Takes about six hours. Flew to both with Air Astana on many occasions over the last 6 years. A daily flight to both about 5 days per week. Always busy. Just back in Almaty now waiting for an onward internal flight.

When I was last in central Bangkok 3 weeks ago, BTS were still requesting that you wear a mask on their trains and in their stations.

Unfortunately I’ve seen too many tourists with no motorcycle experience, hiring and riding motorcycles. The locals have been on motorcycles, likely since they were 10 or 11 years old but there are so many serious accidents and fatalities among them too, so experience is no guarantee of safety. My wife has lost at least two male cousins through motor cycle accidents and another left a paraplegic, who eventually committed suicide due to the condition. Lately the trend seems to be towards big motor cycles with the locals rather than the usual 110 and 125cc models so that’s not going to end well either.

Forgive my naivety. I’m marrying a Thai lady I’ve been in a relationship with for the last eight years, later this year. We’ve built a house together in Thailand and I’m intending retiring to Thailand in the next couple of years. is there any difference between a retirement visa and a marriage visa in practical terms? Meantime I’m intending travelling to and fro from the country I’m currently working in and would be travelling in and out of Thailand several times a year. Thanks, Don
