Folks give me a few days to put this together. My system has been up and running for only 4 days and I would call it a commissioning stage. There was a black out 4 hours from grid day 3 which did not help. There is plenty to tell so far already from my experience. Slowly Slowly catch the monkey!! Yes my outlay was 337,500bht + 3 cases of Chang and 1case of Leo... Physical installation took 2 days to install + 2 days initial start up. The initial start up on day 3 configuring output performance/display was hampered by lousy internet reception and was sorted early on day 4. Not an installer issue. It could have been finished on day 3 bar the internet issue. The 6 guys who physically installed the system come from Bangkok so free accommodation was supplied on site in Yai's bahn on the floor!!. Also my "Issan Luv Machine" acka "Missus" provided 3 cooked meals a day for workers which is being charged back to the company. (~1500bht) I was more than happy with the arrangement of accommodation set up before it happened knowingly I could build up a relationship with these guys with the installation. So I will progress with this thread and put some photos and links up to web pages etc.. After day 4 I am producing way more than what is being consumed... The meter does not lie!

Has anyone experience with the new smart meters and getting credit for excess power going back into the grid. I have an old meter and it is going backwards with the excess... Happy days... The installation was done by contractors and includes a smart meter...yet to be fitted. I was told by the installer that once the new meter was installed I would be able to get a rebate from PEA on the excess power sent back to the grid. Payment method would be in either keeping the banked power for later use or a baht payment. All legit. Since installation I am now hearing that "cannot do!!". Can only do with 3 phase power... Some things are so hard to comprehend in Thailand..

Zero... Make it straight in your relationship from the begining you pay zero otherwise sin sod will be just a deposit on what's left in your bank account.... It is no longer a norm... There will be pressure to "Show Face" and not only pay Sin Sot but buy Gold also.... Parents of the Thai female being wed should give 100% of Sin Sot back to husband as he is expected to pay for the wedding anyway... Your wedding your life your money...I hope it works for you... I learnt my lesson the hard way and got stung paying Sin Sod.....

I am connecting to grid already there. I have been informed that Nang Rong PEA (my local) does not have a smart meter so it will have to be sent from Korat. If the meter does spin backwards you would think I would be covered if I get busted as PEA have been informed of the upcoming instillation.....however TiT!!!!

Gents... I have just put a deposit on a 10Kw 330,000bht system... On Grid no batteries. Dragon Energy fully installed next 2 weeks (Thai time????) with Smart Meter from PEA. Rather than steal this thread I might start another one with the fun and games to begin.... Already I have been told that it could take 3 to 6 months for PEA to approve instillation. Too long... I told the missus to tell PEA that Bangkok TV (Ammp News reader...famous!!!...her name is really Ammp!!) is coming to film the switch on and how good PEA is leading the world in Green Energy.. Might hurry things up......

Every state in Ozz has different rules. If she already has a Thai licence she can drive legally in most states including coverage for insurance. The catch is she has to enter Ozz under a Tourist Visa which I do not think is being issued at the moment with covid stuff. Depending on which state you are going to be in again you need her Thai license translated to English and notarized as a true copy of document. If she does not have a license then Im not sure of the procedure but I think there is a fair bit to it. My missus drives in Ozz like she drives here....f**kin scary.. I had to teach her not to drive over road kill so it would not damage under car.....roundabouts driving Thai style needs big help in training also... wear your seatbelt at all times!! and hope Puddah is with you in the car.....

Gents a question and to the point hopefully. I am sold on using Amoran Solar products after my research. A 7.5Kw system.
My question is to do with Micro Inverters which I am sold on also albeit with the added cost.
Is it standard software for a computer readout that a Micro Inverter will identify individually which PV is lagging behind power output or will it only show which string of PV's is lagging. Or have I got something wrong being a novice?
I'm big on seeing the performance via computer and plan to put a dedicated computer screen on the wall showing all the parameters.
Fanx in advance for replies....

I want to feel warm and Fuzzy helping the environment... ROI not big time important but want to see the light at the end of the tunnel with the investment. The more I read the more frustrated I become setting up a system here in Burriram... The local shop in the big town is selling 10kw kits including fitting for around 310K bht. I have done the sums fitting a system myself using outside help and come up with roughly 1/3 of the price. A big saving on ROI!! I have some questions not being a sparky and what I do know confirms I know <deleted> all of <deleted> all!!
So I'm looking at either a 6kw system or maybe in preference a 10 kw system grid tied. My average power bin is 4500bht p/m. The roof has sun on it 95% of the day (East/West orientation).
My biggest stumbling point is getting a quality inverter (not Chinglish) hopefully supplied from within Thailand that I can get history and current performance of the system via computer graphs (consumption from grid/export a bit back into grid as old wheel meter? sshh) etc... The more info from the operating system the better. Does anybody have a link or supplier they would recommend. Doing the online Lazada search I keep coming up with O/S companies that do not deliver etc etc. Would like to purchase local if can.

Australian Government said vaccine would be available to every Australian Person and free. I wonder if you can nock on the ( or your relevant) embassy door and get one when available??

Wow 2 replies!!! Im returning Thailand in a few weeks after being locked out with the Covid stuff... I live in Burriram but not difficult to get to Bangkok.. Enjoy getting out of the Village every now and then.. I had a Cochlear implant inserted 3 months ago and the benefits are amazing.... The thing is you need to get the implant tweaked like a hearing aid so the nerves keep understanding the new signal and the ear keeps getting stronger... If you let it lapse then the ear gets lazy and the nerves stop re building.. Very important especially at the start of the implant. The gear to monitor history and make adjustments is Cochlear specific. The computer that connects must have the latest software from Cochlear otherwise it would be of no benefit.
-
I recently had a Cochlear Implant in Australia and am looking for an Audiologist who can adjust the settings if required (mapping). The implant is a Nucleas 7 and I plan to send my audio file from my current Audiologist in Australia. Obviously they need to be Cochlear accredited with the computer software needed. Long shot...old thread but hear...here....goes... ????

I signed. I'm affected by the border closures to get back to my home in Thailand and my Terak.

Air in the pump..? There is a bleed screw highest point of pump to release trapped air.... Sometimes you have to bleed many times as air can or might be in the pipes also....

Sad...Never to see my 9000bht return flight never returned...<deleted> it....

My Insurance is on hold. AETNA agreed to put on hold while borders are closed. I ran back to Ozz first wiff of epidemic... Not sure exactly what cost will be but they said current policy did not cover Covid and I will have to pay extra maybe 50,000bht on top of policy which already cost 50,000bht per year. Too much for this black duck to pay....
How much is the average tourist going to pay for 1,000,000 USD Corona cover??

Errrmmm... You can transfer funds between banks easy within the Kingdom... You are saying Domestically...
-
Its called Transferwise. You need to open a bank account in your name unless you really really really trust someone. Transferwise fees are minimal compared to other options apart from cash.
To open an account the rule varies from Bank to Bank location to location. Good luck with that. Having a Thai National help works wonders.

2 Recommended by other ex-pats....Got sick of researching all the Insurance companies and trying to weigh the benefits up. What you pay depends on what level of cover you get. I had one small claim and was payed out with little fuss.. They respond to email with quires quickly... Would recommend.. My criteria was reputable insurance...
