The reason is that it is possible that money needed to put back money spent from my 400,000 baht fund due to emergencies earlier this year might not come in time to top the fund back up the necessary 2 months before my normal application date of 4 weeks before  extension expiry. So the money might arrive late giving 2 months in the bank ending only 1  weeks before the previous extension of stay expires.

Relevant dates could be as late as 25th January 400,000 in my bank with an extension of stay expiring 5th April, the 2 months maturation ending only 12 days before expiry of the previous extension of stay.

I've done mine a day before it expired in the past.

However I normally do it a couple of weeks before as I did in October this year.

The existing regulation isn't enforced nor do the Thai authorities expect foreign residents or Thais to pay tax on overseas non current income streams. That of course may change wef 2024.Let's see.If I am required by law to pay more tax, that's fine.

For those who pay tax unnecessarily I can think of several adjectives - public spirited, hopelessly naive etc but 'good' doesn't really come to mind.

Those foreigners who have a desperate need to pay tax regardless of whether it is required or not can always write a cheque and send it to the Thai Ministry of Finance.I'm sure it would be welcomed.

I haven't written a cheque in 15 years and I don't know anyone who does these days...

No idea what other Countries do.

However, when I was previously using an accountant, he sent me an all inclusive

    Earnings Xxxx Tax payable xxxx

Which I doubt would be much good in a discussion with RD if you were trying to fight your corner on what income had been taxed and what income had not been taxed.

On that note. Could any of the UK expats claiming the State Pension confirm if the DWP also send you an annual P60, bearing in mind that when I get too that age, and claim it, it will also be skelped for UK tax.
