I always go to the bank for the letter the day before I plan to renew my extension. Any earlier could be (I'm not saying 100 percent) problematic. For the last two applications I have also had a signed and stamped 6 month bank statement and of course every page of my bank book photocopied. Two copies of each page as I apply outside of Bangkok.
If you did that at my Imm office they would send you off to get it updated on the date of your application. No 24 hour in advance updates allowed anymore must be the date of application.

Generally May - June.

I miss family and friends and free health care as being a non UK resident.
Life in Thailand is far superior in my experience.

Yes
Never been sick in nearly 10 years.

The negativity astounds me.
If you don't like it in the LoS **** off back whence you came as you are only a guest here.
As you would be anywhere other than your own country.

Back to back 1 year marriage extension no problem. I have done 9.

Completely agree with the OP.

Thanks everyone.
400000 is pretty much my life savings after a disastrous marriage to my Canadian wife. Now there was a money grabber ...
40000 a month was looking great. My disability payments were well overy that until the Canadian dollar tanked. At today's rate, it's now barely over the 40000 baht limit.
What is going on with the baht. ???
Nothing wrong with the baht. Thailand has loads of reserves and hardly any debt and an economy that is going a long at nearly 4% a year growth.
It's other countries that have the problem.

I submitted my UK embassy proof of income letter last month in the normal manner.
Nothing extra was required for my marriage extension.

It's air-con that racks the domestic bill up.
My current bill is 1201.88 baht but little or no air-con for the last month. 303 units.
This goes upto 600 units when the air-con (3) are used overnight.

I always apply for my income letter 1 month in advance of the extension (UK).
I have done a marriage extension for 9 years and have never been asked to apply for a retirement extension.

Interesting topic, one I have given some thought to.
I left UK permanently in 1982. I have kept my UKDL registered address at my sister's address. I did that when the licence changed from a booklet style to the computer print style. I have never applied for the photo licence as there is no requirement to do so.
Now my UKDL will expire next year on my 70th birthday. I could re-apply (need to state nil medical problem that would affect driving) but I would have to make the clear, written and incorrect, statement that I reside at my sister's address in UK.
Now that would certainly work, and I would get my licence renewed.
Until I had an accident. Then all would be revealed and I would probably be deemed as driving unlicensed so my insurance would probably be invalidated and all would go into the cess pit in short order.
I won't be renewing my UKDL!
(I do resent this as I cannot see why, as a UK citzen, renewing my UK driving licence should be dependant upon me being resident).
Just as being a UK tax payer and living officially in Thailand doesn't entitle you to free UK NHS treatment if you are non resident in the UK. Total crap.

You must reside in UK to renew.
No. Just use a UK address of a friend or family member.

I have a incinerator to burn my household rubbish.
All garden waste is burnt separately and dug back into the veggie patch.

I have been in Thailand for more than 9 years and if it happens to me I get up and leave, although this is very rare as I normally don't receive such bad treatment.
There are plenty of other places who would welcome my custom.
-
It is gross income and I get my UK embassy income letter a month before the extension due date.

I haven't but 2 friends of mine tried. 1 Aussie and 1 Brit.
Both gave up over the amount of bureaucracy involved and the time taken.
We are talking years at least back then.

Surely not.
Never heard of such an outrageous sugesstion. 555

It still baffles me why people can't spend 1 day of their time each year yo do these things personally.
With countless tales of things going wrong as another OP has reported his delayed online 90 day.
If you have been in Thailand for any length of time it shouldn't surprise you.
