They cannot access loans with the big banks. Usually these folks are not regular wage earners over past years so the banks won't touch them, that's why they go to second tier finance companies .... hence a higher interest rate.  Your figures for the motorbike seem about correct ....  a loan of around 45-55k is usually double with interest.  TIT ...

My local Honda dealer was selling a Honda Moove for 52000 baht cash or 1800 baht a month for 36 months = 64800 baht with a 1500 baht up front deposit.

I'm amazed that this would be a big deal, as i wouldn't suspect too many foreigners on tourist visa's working in Thailand .....  maybe a few but certainly not a hundred or even 30 .....   ?

All the foreign teachers in my local town had better scarper quick then as none have work permits.

Repeat throughout the country and you have thousands.

I did my O Visa in Savannakhet 3 months ago. They did not ask for a Kor Ror 2 but for B20 I got it and had it with me.

Be sure to have your original marriage certificate.  They will ask for that.

And make sure the copy marriage cert is signed by you and your wife as well as her ID and TB copies by you and her as well.

Not many people need pushing out of the hell that is village life. The cities function as a liberating experience for the girls and they benefit enormously,  as do we. Your comment regarding underage girls is nonsense.  Pattaya nightlife is highly policed. Unlike the in the UK where child sex abuse has gone unhindered,  with the knowledge of the police for decades. Start by googling Rotherham.

Village life is far from hell (I find it absolutely marvellous) but people leave the countryside to seek employment just as they do in many countries as an economic necessity.

  5. I bought a 10 year old Click from a friend of my wife's as she was going to live in BKK and didn't want to take it with her.

When we all went to change the name of ownership she hadn't paid any tax for several years as she only used it around the village.

I wanted it to be taxed so it could be used to go into town if necessary and not get stopped to pay any fines to the BiB.

I paid the tax owed, about 3000 baht I think and got a new number plate.

    It's now renewed every year.

  6. I have a Nationwide account and just gave them a change of address when I relocated to Thailand 10 years ago.

All correspondence comes to my Thai address including new cards when the old ones expire.

My pension is paid in monthly and I use TransferWise to deposit money into my Thai account as and when I need it.

My monthly statements are advised by email for me to check online.

To use NW online banking you need a card as they require you to use a card reader to access their service for validation and security.
