Just completed the Non-O, no proof of funds asked for.. Followed the list of required docs on their website, was all quite easy. The embassy didn't open until 9:00am so had the sun burning on everyone for 30+ minutes. There's a charge of 100 baht for going through immigration, then further 1500 baht for the Laos visa, and a leaving charge of 50 baht. They have an airport-style scanner which seems to be used to stop people bringing back Beer Laos and Heineken. Starting to get busy there with Chinese on tour buses, I'm not sure I'll do it again, bit of a mission from Phuket. -
Will do lol They would behave the same way if you were Thai (aside from asking for 500 baht), so not just a foreigner thing

@bob smith Everything you said in the OP is correct (wife agrees) 500 is far too much to give to a monk, they wanted a share of that money I assume you are working around mostly women Changing your place of work won't make much difference, it's the same everywhere

depends on grams vs millilitres better to mix the two together anyway -
I've just found out I need to cancel my non-b the middle of this month due to an issue with Khurusapa (long story) School I currently work at wants me to stay and is offering me another role if I get a non-o visa (though I'm considering a University job) I don't have 400k in a Thai account (but do in my home country account for emergencies), and got married 2 weeks ago so not wanting to go home just yet. What would be the best option from here? 1) Obtain a 1-year multi-entry non-o from Savannakhet (not sure if this then allows employment) 2) Get a 60-day marriage extension and transfer the money (I would need to transfer back it back a few months after, so money would be lost)

After a week of finally getting all the documents ready we contacted the main ampur and been told it's 3000 baht to do (in one day) Doesn't this service normally cost 400 baht?
