He is sitting on a bike that belongs to someone else from a shop that is not his and he denies all charges.
Not the brightest chap around from the start of the episode to the end.

Try this link. Only you know what you saw and maybe can find a pic here ... http://www.siam-info.de/english/snakes_common.html

I have been challenged when photographing or videotaping scenes in London, New York, Bangkok - and a few other places - by folks feeling it is an invasion of their privacy or because they thought I had some ulterior motive in recording them on film or tape. My only suggestion is when asked to stop, do so. Or ask first. Why it was different a few years ago on that Soi is unknown but above replies could be the answers.

There are district and juristic definitions of where Pattaya starts and stops, where Banglamung starts and stops - and Nongprue, Jomtien etc. But as in other large cities, Bangkok for example, these subtleties will likely continue to be ignored and the whole general area be lumped into one for easy reference.

Thanks for the heads up.
I might head down there .....

In Pattaya only for 3 years but first visited 45 years ago when nothing was here other than one hotel and one restaurant.
Other years were spent in Bangkok.
-
One year . Wow.. Well after 45 years here I moved to Pattaya where housing is cheaper than Bangkok and where a new life of relative peace was started. I have no illusions about the place but can easily avoid its worse aspects and enjoy its better ones.

I have heard that spraying an area with WD40 is very effective against pigeons who dislike the smell.
And that, at least, is legal whereas an air-gun may not be.

Yep. Why are his quick assumptions any more worthy that those he suggests that Thai police will have ?
Was it really a joke ? I doubt it.
RIP to the gentleman in the case referred to.

Thing is, many of the beggars and flower sellers are slave labour sent out by their "boss" and treated roughly when they return without a desired amount. The aim is to stop the trafficking in kids for profit rather than pick on someone trying to make a living. It's sad to see them rounded up but the reality of their lives is even sadder.

Re: the comment that suggests "selective enforcement" is the issue .... this could be said any time about any one who is arrested for any thing .
Why not bust the drug runner instead of the drunk driver ? Why did someone else get away with this or that and not me ?
Is the suggestion that one set of law breaking is OK but not another ? The penalties for any breach of law reflect the degree of seriousness but the latter does not set the arrest criteria.
-
Whatever anyone says and no matter how funny or otherwise the comments here, it's against the law to behave that way in public places in this country. Police were alerted and made an arrest. What's the issue ?

I have seen guns on TV or in movies all my life, but never wanted to have one.

As far as I know, there is no Apple repair service in Pattaya and things get sent to Bangkok. There is an Apple re-seller in TukCom complex on Pattaya Tai Road and one in Central Festival on Beach Road and they might help advise on this.

Didn't know where to send the postcard but my response to that is that I feel it is plain reporting self-indulgence where "42 year old man" is less interesting in the reporter's own mind than "Methodist organ-player" or whatever.
Stereotyping, literally, starts with such nonsense.

Not sure why anyone is surprised.
After they were defrocked, they were just citizens and as such they not allowed to carry such knives.
Or drugs.
And as monks, they were not supposed to have those either.
They were hardly camp kitchen utensils or kitchen ingredients.

While one expects Australian police to have good reasons (and who knows what those might be) I have seen only good Charity works done by the few biker clubs here and certainly seen no open inter-club violence associated with "gangs" in other parts of the world where drug running has been linked to some.
-
You would be surprised how often this happens and how many cases involving a wide variety of nationalities happen each week.
And not all involve drink. Just stupidity, ignorance, a view that anything goes in Pattaya and sometimes a cultural view of females' role in this world.

I guess it depends what you call tourists, but way back in the late 1960's onwards couples and families would come down for the weekend from Bangkok - Thai and foreign. That continued with the growth of hotels along Beach Road until it was no longer a very nice place to walk around with children and Hua Hin became more attractive.
-
When I first came to Pattaya, there was only one Hotel and one restaurant (Barbos) with a few open bars along Sukhumvit Road. Beach road was for some large mansions only and Jomtien was totally pristine and barren. I used to stay at "Rock Cottages" that was later bought over by someone. That was before you actually got to Pattaya itself. The only supermarket was in Naklua.

There are many such "hard cases" here who one day will pick on a group of Thais and get their selves kicked silly or worse.
Why does Pattaya attract so many angry men ?
-
You just never know who is living in your village compound just around the corner.

Ummm .... I think anyone working in any capacity in law enforcement can be reported and such a person you describe should NOT be working as either a teacher or a Tourist police volunteer. There are agencies like Child Protection etc, who would handle that case. Your story is not Pattaya related but my comments are applicable here too.

17 is not underage.
A girl working in a bar must be 20 years old, legally.
What Peaves Do You Put Up With To Live Here
