The wife and I put a sticky cockroach trap down in our kitchen once.. this is what we got. Notice the distinct lack of cock roaches. For the record, we were both horrified that we killed a snake and the 2 jing joks. We also had no idea that we had a snake living with us, for how long or how it got in.
I have absolutely no problem living with gekkos, jing joks, lizards or even harmless snakes. The cat however differs from me.
In my book anything that crawls should be eradicated. That includes politicians

The post is unfair to Monkeys as it has been shown that Monkeys are problem solvers, albeit to a much lesser degree than humans. The humble squirrel is too because it will think of a way to grab its nuts and remember it. Thais may not think too much but most Thai males are like squirrels insofaras you can often observe them scratching their nuts ????

Tesco Lotus was the only place I could buy it. But now I could not find it in any of their stores in the last 3 months. You have to remember that using things like wash wipe is a bit of a stretch for the average Thai driver

Where do you live ?

Despite the other posts one has to remember this article is from an Aussie perspective and from someone who has only lived here 11 years. It would also seem obvious that he has been living and working in in or around some of the main tourist areas such as Bangkok, Phuket or Pattaya perhaps. Some of his observations are quite true but others are totally out of kilter that he would have experienced had he lived and worked in the more rural areas of Thailand for any long period of time.
As for the jet ski scams did it take a 25 year old Aussie to come to Thailand and after 11 years tell everybody to be wary of them ? The scams were going on when he was in nappies and everybody was aware of them then . So I am not sure as to whether this article was printed to advise fellow Australians of this to be careful, or just perhaps to get some monetary reward for its publication, the contents of which could easily have been cut and pasted from a google search by someone living anywhere in the world without setting foot in Thailand.
Now had he had actually mentioned some of the peculiar and local customs in many places, towns and villages around Thailand to give people a better insight into real Thai lives and hardships that would probably have been more interesting to potential visitors perhaps.

Can I ask how you opened a bank account as a tourist, so that you could transfer funds from the UK, to enable you to buy the condo ?

A second hand report by one person is not enough to convince me it has changed.
A report by somebody that was not allowed to apply for their extension for doing it more than 30 day early would be enough.
Up to you. It was for the benefit of others.

Chaeng Wattana has been 45 days for some time now and I have seen no reports of that being changed.
Perhaps your friend was given incorrect info.
Well this was a report that it has changed as he was advised by an Immgration officer that indeed it was so.
He has been getting his extensions due to marriage for 17 years now, the last few years at CW, and this is the first time he was told by an immigration officer he can only do it in advance up to 30 days from now on.
The purpose of posting this was to advise people to apply within the defined guidelines of 30 days. But if people want to try 45 days and then have to be troubled to repeat the process theni t is up to them. I for one would not want to mislead people on what appears to be a tightening of the rules.

The is no theory to it. You could even go on the 24th if needed. But I suggest doing it a couple of weeks early at the least.
Ubonjoe, please re-check this as a colleague of mine went to Chaeng Wattana last week, as he has done for years, and was told that they are now insisting on 30 days prior to expiry maximum for renewal of extension due to marriage. Now whether or not that varies from one officer or not I am not sure, but that also tallies with a report I had from Jomtien recently stating the self same thing that the 30 day prior rule will in future be strictly enforced. Certainly in Udon Thani it is because that is my local Immigration office.

No , you can go to apply for a further extension no more than 30 days before the expiry date,

Hmm.. No, I hadn't even considered this as I know of 2 others, 1 Thai and the other Indian that have ordered 3D printers from Aliexpress without incident. Do you know of a website or office I might contact regarding this? Thanks for the reply!
Search this site http://en.customs.go.th/content.php?ini_content=import_export_151006_01&lang=en&left_menu=menu_import
If in doubt ring them, you eventually should be able to speak to someone in English.
-
No you should not as the Lazada site states import duties are including in the overall shipping price. However did you check that a 3 D printer is not a banned import ? On another forum about 2 months ago the poster advised that this type of printer was currently prohibited to be imported into Thailand and the Thai customs subsequently confiscated the goods.

You can bring in far larger amounts no problem. Just declare it through the correct channel and of course the reason for it, and no problem. Over the years I have never encountered any problems but of course I have declared it properly and provided them with the reason and access to supporting information . Never has the reason been followed up by the authorities.

To avoid embarrassment I had to get my wife to close her back door before I read this article?

Was not aware that there was a visa for Erectile Dysfunction (ED) ?
But other than that there are agencies , mentioned in many other threads so just search a little, who can "arrange" for retirement visas without the requisite seasoned money . Sent you a PM

So what relevance is there to the story that she lived near the lake - you throw her in ?

And if it works as well as the online 90 day reporting doesn't , Thailand will again highlight their deficiencies when it comes to IT.

And it never has been wasted day at Udon Thani for me. This year was the same as previous years, 1 hour to submitted yearly extension due to marriage and a month later about 20 minutes to get the stamp in the PP. By all accounts you waste much more than a few days on PR from start to finish
