The benefit is you don't have to waste a day (usually several) at immigration each year begging for them to give you another extension of stay in Thailand.

But you're right, financially 1900 Bt per year is cheaper than 100k (married) or 200k (single) up front.

And it never has been wasted day at Udon Thani for me.  This year was the same as previous years,  1 hour to submitted yearly extension due to marriage and a month later about 20 minutes to get the stamp in the PP.  By all accounts you waste much more than a few days on PR from start to finish

The wife and I put a sticky cockroach trap down in our kitchen once.. this is what we got. Notice the distinct lack of cock roaches. For the record, we were both horrified that we killed a snake and the 2 jing joks. We also had no idea that we had a snake living with us, for how long or how it got in.

I have absolutely no problem living with gekkos, jing joks, lizards or even harmless snakes. The cat however differs from me.

Chaeng Wattana has been 45 days for some time now and I have seen no reports of that being changed.

Perhaps your friend was given incorrect info.

Well this was a report that it has changed as he was advised by an Immgration officer that indeed it was so.

He has been getting his extensions due to marriage for 17 years now, the last few years at CW,  and this is the first time he was told by an immigration officer he can only do it in advance up to 30 days from now on.

The purpose of posting this was to advise people to apply within the defined guidelines of 30 days.  But if people want to try 45 days and then have to be troubled to repeat the process theni t is up to them.  I for one would not want to mislead people on what appears to be a tightening of the rules.

The is no theory to it. You could even go on the 24th if needed. But I suggest doing it a couple of weeks early at the least.

Ubonjoe,  please re-check this as a colleague of mine went to Chaeng Wattana last week, as he has done for years,  and was told that they are now insisting on 30 days prior to expiry maximum for renewal of extension due to marriage.  Now whether or not that varies from one officer or not I am not sure,  but that also tallies with a report I had from Jomtien recently stating the self same thing that  the 30 day prior rule will in future be strictly enforced. Certainly in Udon Thani it is because that is my local Immigration office.

Hmm.. No, I hadn't even considered this as I know of 2 others, 1 Thai and the other Indian that have ordered 3D printers from Aliexpress without incident. Do you know of a website or office I might contact regarding this? Thanks for the reply!

    Search this site http://en.customs.go.th/content.php?ini_content=import_export_151006_01&lang=en&left_menu=menu_import

If in doubt ring them,  you eventually should be able to speak to someone in English.

  6. No you should not as the Lazada site states import duties are including in the overall shipping price.   However did you check that a 3 D printer is not a banned import ?    On another forum about 2 months ago the poster advised that this type of printer was currently prohibited to be imported into Thailand and the Thai customs subsequently confiscated the goods.
