  1. My guess would that there aren't too many electrophysiologists in Thailand and that they are busy treating AFIB cases. As a result of which they are only mildly interested in PVCs an have limited experience in ablating them.
  2. Don't know the value, but in the past 15 month I had a couple of echographies, which were [still] normal. My understanding was that ablation was to be considered if the PVCs were symptomatic or when the burden was over 10 to 20%.
  3. Seen him, he didn't suggest ablation even though I was at 15% PVCs, which got worse, probably over 30% with persistent bigeminy. Now, since end of March I have very few. It bothers me that Thai doctors might see non symptomatic PVCs as always benign while they get treated in the West when the burden reaches set limits. I went to see another cardiologist at Bumrungrad in February, he's reaction was "oh now you have PVCs all the time, come back for another echo within a year".
  4. Would anyone know an electrophysiologist willing and capable of treating PVCs.
  5. China same same Thailand, and quality likely to be worse here. To make sense to should shift it to highly automated US factories,
  6. When they issued my visa they required my wife to be present for the cancellation of my "Thai-Wife" extension of stay. They also wanted to see my last 90 days report, which I thought was a hassle from the Immigration people who didn't want to miss any opportunity to fleece people late in their reporting. It is likely that immigration see these LTR visa as a threat to their illicit sources of income.
  7. Mine tends to overheat and black screen. Right now I use it without the cover. Getting to and cleaning the fan is in the too difficult basket.
  8. The topic, as I understand it, is about what we want to achieve on our downhill run.. I like my objectives and achievements to be measurable. So I give a modest number reflecting my limited ability.
  9. I guess I am a boring type. I convert the price of cars from whatever currency in months of income. The last car I bought in Europe was a little Renault Modus, which set me back on month. When I came to Thailand I tried to impress my wife with a CRV that cost 5 months of my pension. Thought it was totally extravagant. AFAIC BMWs are most probably outstanding pieces of german engineering, but totally out of reach for commoners.
  10. Wise, I'll stay home definitely. Makro was an appalling sight yesterday with all these truckloads of booze going through the checkout. And most of the crow were still wearing these <deleted> masks.
  11. Have to admit that for me can only be Plan A, as I have never worked in Thailand (thank heavens) and the only Thai word I get right is boomboom (or is it bumbum?)...
  12. Speaking from experience, LTR/Pensioner is easier to get than a yearly extension, a bit like using an "empowered agent" (BOI), I didn't submit any paper, only pdfs. No stupid signatures on any form etc. Could use my original Pension, Bank and Insurances documents, no copies were needed as all originals were available on-line. Paid 50K, but thats for 10 years and that's roughly the cost of 10 extensions with 10 multiple return permits.
  13. Dunno why you say that? I must have spent a couple of hours behind my keyboard and and other two hours at Chamchuri square.
  14. If I had [wet] dreams of PR i'd still have a serious look at the BOI/LTR offer. Which gives you 10 years with easy WPs for 50K, and a few pdfs one can send on line without leaving the bedloom.
  15. Like your question. I never had one, just took up activities when I thought it would be cool to discover them. When it comes to travel I had the tendency to "dream ahead" three or four trips.
  16. Glad I did the paragliding, scuba diving and mountaineering in my forties and fifties, before starting a new family.
  17. I am 70, and will be happy if I can make it to 76. This is the cut off where I leave my family with a monthly pension of about 4500 USD, plus assets. In the meantime I (try to keep) the lot happy.
  18. And what on earth is the "bigger picture". When faced with a life expectancy that increases by one year every four the french pension system, which relies on contributions from the [active] workers to pay the pensions of the retired, will soon face bankruptcy if nothing is being done to balance the books. Also France. being one of the most indebted countries in Europe, Macron has to show to the financial markets his determination to control public debt. So he had to chose between reducing pensions, increasing contributions of the active population, or raising the retirement age. For anyone in his right mind the latter was the most sensible decision to take.
  19. In such case an Exit bag would be the best solution IMHO.
  20. Amusing, I chose to get "marriage extensions" because I could let my wife handle the IO relationship, which she did quite well. Basically it was team work; we prepared the paper work together, at the IO I was sitting on the floor and panting will she was dealing with the p..ks. If I hadn't been able to rely on her I would have thought something was wrong in our marriage... Now I have gone the LTR route, which looked just too good to refuse. Future will tell.
  21. The Thai people, yes, as R. McNamara said when he tried to speak Vietnamese: "the little duck, he wants to lie down".
