  1. Surely insurance should payout based upon the final outcome not what caused it!! So if the insurance cover has a clause that they won't payout if you have an accident whilst on holiday under the influence then that's BS IMO. PS. It's a shame that the airbags didn't break her fall
  2. 1) There's no visa extensions in VN. 2) Border hopping is permitted and unlimited number per year, but it'll be a visa waiver, different lengths for different passports, but 45 days is common. 3) A 90 day tourist visa costs $25 USD and can only be applied for once outside the country, so in the departure lounge, takes around 3 days to be processed (but they state upto 7 days processing). An agent can get them processed within hours so you don't have to leave the airport on the other side, just literally go from Arrivals to Departures and check-in for the next flight back, the agent charges $25-35 USD on top of the $25 USD visa. Well worth it as a night in BKK hotel with transfers far exceeds the agent fees. 4) Da Nang is now full of tourists, it has changed in the last year or two. Firstly flooded by Russians and now tourists from everywhere. The place has been ruined, the costs have shot up, accommodation used to be 4-6m VND per month in 2024, now 20m VND for the same apartment. Food prices have trebled (restaurants and street food) but supermarkets have remained static. 5) Worth going for a visit but it's already spoilt for long-term stays. 6) No retirement visas offered and even Spouse visas are only 2-3 years in length requiring renewals (2 years in Da Nang, 3 years in HCMC and Hanoi).
  3. Dogs are for eating not kicking
  4. But Thailand have submarines !! Or haven't they finished building them yet :)
  5. Unprofessional move IMHO. Should freeze contracts with this company. Initiate an investigation and report. Give the company an opportunity to respond immediately and again after the investigation. Take appropriate action. So, now who is to blame? The company will fight back and may even claim compo for unfair action especially if they can prove they weren't negligent. What if Thai people didn't follow instructions/regulations? Who in their right mind would take on the completion of these contracts? Assuming that Thailand doesn't have the necessary resources and equipment!
  6. B@st@rds who pray on emotionally distraught families !
  7. A 50 year old would be looking ahead for potential hazards whereas a 14 yo kid was thinking about his next w**k whilst looking at tok-tik on his phone! And probably speeding to boot.
  8. There isn't a hotel room in CM with 200k thb of furnishings! The average room is decorated out in under 5k thb with a fancy hotel creeping up to 10k thb if it has a fancy mattress.
  9. You'll also need a medical certificate (original and a photocopy) and best to do the eLearning prior to your appointment.
  10. Finally, as per the rest of the world does !!
  11. Chalk vs Cheese CM is quiet, hippy like, cheaper than Patts but still not as cheap pre-Covid, smokey season imminent for 3 months (Feb-Apr), gyms are OK, can bicycle around easily enough, great Thai food, friendlier than Patts for sure.
  12. Thai beer is terrible anyway, full of chemicals, hangovers galore and the taste isn't great. Sure, you get used to it but as soon as you go overseas and drink beer then you realise just how bad it really is. Same with those cheap spirits that they use marked "V" meaning vodka, "W" meaning whiskey etc that bars use to refill empty bottles of well known brands!
  13. And it's nowhere near Da Nang ! It's way past Tam Ky and almost in Quang Ngai. 21 hour walk or 2 hours by car from Da Nang. Middle of nowhere useful.
  14. I recently spent 2 weeks running around every K Bank in Chiang Mai with a valid Certificate of Residence, new driving licences, existing BBL debit card & passbook (8 years) and a month apartment lease but on a visa waiver in my new Passport. No K Bank was interested once they saw the visa waiver stamp and told me to come back when I had a retirement visa. I said I need the bank account open to deposit the required funds and their reply was to get my retirement visa through BBL and then jump ship! So the staff have been instructed to only open accounts on long term visas, they are not accepting ED visas I now read too. Check my previous posts for more details. I updated my passport details at CM Gate branch and they asked about my visa waiver and I said it was just a quick visit to line things up for a retirement visa application....they bought it. Oh, and I tried two SCB and I didn't even get past the security guard at those, he asked to see my visa when I said I wanted to open a new bank account.
