That’s where we used to go for early morning Sunday drives.

How do you like the S class? Is it the latest model? Thinking of upgrading from an E class but a bit worried about parking it as it seems massive. Also seems many people choose to have drivers rather than driving themselves.

Unlike girls that I always find too big, I never find cars big enough (maybe a ego thing).

Yes, the latest model is my perfect car, but not sure that I would upgrade if I already had a E which is certainly enough.

    I got a S because I didn't want to think after buying a E that I should have got a S-class :-)

The new platform means a fully electric version in a couple of years. A 3 cylinder turbo kicks off the range and an unusual dash design, with analogue dials wrapped around a screen/display. The rest looks fairly generic.

As the wife vetoed a merc(because of the image), it looks like a beemer for our next car.

hahaha, what is the problem with Benz image ? I would never buy a BMW because of the image actually, and because they should first learn to give a face to their cars: when you see a BMW coming without a star in front, it just looks like an improved Toyota.

Don't know if your post is a reply to mine, however, it would appear that there are many people out there who crave these sugary drinks on a daily basis, and for the life of me I can't understand why, because it's never been part of my life and now I would probably drink three small cans of Coke a year, and then only if I was desperate for a drink and could get nothing else.

I see what you're saying, inasmuch as the diet drink would mean the consumers were absorbing less calories, however the research does suggest that the sugar high that these people crave by drinking these sorts of drinks, is a lot shorter, so they go on to drink more, so maybe the calorie differential really doesn't come down to much at the end of the day.

I just know that I know many people that were drinking diet coke during diet and it helped them as lot.

When they were feeling like eating something sweet, they just drank some coke zero instead of eating sweet.

As easy as this, and it works, whatever studies...

No need to apologize.  However, "The work, done with mice and humans, suggests that artificial sweeteners could raise your blood sugar levels more than if you indulged in sugar-sweetened sodas and desserts."  Many more around like this.  Do some home work.  All the best

Yes but real sugar makes you instantly fat, so the choice is easy !

Ok...so here is my "fair and balanced" opinion.

I think I like Koh Chang more than Phuket.  I spent the late morning and early afternoon at Klong Prao beach, in front of the Flora I Talay resort.  A 10 minute (฿50 per person) Songteaw ride away from where I am staying at the AWA resort at Kae Bae beach.  As suggested, there were absolutely no rocks in the water so I was able to wade out without constantly looking at my feet.

Althought the water is a touch cleaner (from what I remember) in Phuket, the water here in Koh Chang is by no means "dirty" and I haven't seen any trash strewn along the beach or floating in the water.  The beach was far less crowded than those I've been to in Phuket (Kata, Kata Noi, Nai Harn and Ya Nui) and I didn't see a single hawker trying to sell me anything (something that I found quite annoying when in Phuket).  There are also swings hanging from the trees along the beach.  A nice addition for sure.  A beachside Thai massage ran ฿250 (+tip)  I don't know the price in Phuket.

The food options might be a little better in Phuket but I have no complaints here on Koh Chang.  I don't drink alcohol so I cannot comment on the bars.  There don't seem to be as many beer (lady) bars, so if that's your thing, Phuket would probably be a better choice.

The locals seem to be more friendly overall (not as friendly as Chiang Mai but still noticeably more friendly than Phuket) and I don't sense the "criminal element" that I feel in Phuket.  The Songteaws are definitely not as expensive as Phuket where I feel that they are ridiculously overpriced.  The tourists seem to be more laid back and a little older also.  Less of a party scene.

Overall, I think it's like comparing a BMW to a Benz.  Both places are nice but I like the vibe more on Koh Chang.  Just my personal preference.  If wild nightlife is what you're after, I would recommend Phuket.  If you just want to "chill out" then Koh Chang.

I can't comment on the diving or snorkeling as I have only snorkelled once at Loh Moo Dee beach on Koh Phi Phi.  It was incredible!  If the only thing that is important to you is white sands and crystal clear turquoise water then I would suggest checking out the Mayan Riviera in Mexico (Akumal, Tulum and Isla Mujeres)

How can you compare anywhere to Phuket which is the worst beach of whole Thailand with the worst stupid tourist who go there because they know nothing and just follow advertising ?!

Of course Koh chang is better than Phuket ! Because anywhere is better than Phuket ! And Thai from Phuket are worst people I have ever met my whole life.

So yes, you are right, Koh chang is better than Phuket, but 90% other Thai islands and beaches are also better than Koh chang.

i guess the main reason i even posted this thread is that now thier is a bridge over to ko lanta versus previous ferry...................i would assume that development since the bridge , would be strong now?  that saladan since the bridge would be starting to get more developed with restaurants and lodging options?

Yes report me, but it changes nothing to the fact that you know nothing and will never know anything it seems.

There is no bridge from mainland to Koh lanta, there is only a bridge between both Koh lanta islands.

So nothing has changes and anyway beaches couldn't be more ugly than what they are.

After returning, yes, but what about reporting to imm where i am staying temporarily, that i am there. That would mean two reports, of course, one from me and one from the hotel.

Try to avoid big franchise hotels, they are the most troublesome and deserve hate.

I never checkin at any hotel with my name, Thai do it, and only the big brands insist to see my passport, so nor I insist to avoid them like plage, poor succkkers they are.
