Well, I see Bleble thinks my question is funny.

    I don't see why it's funny.

If a restaurant is doing ARGENTINE style grilled meats, they tell you.

If a restaurant is doing AMERICAN BBQ, they tell you and often specifify the region down to the CITY as well.

Are we supposed to assume this place is THAI because it's in THAILAND and they don't say?

It's a real question. Anyone that does know, please post the answer.

So explain me what is the big difference between different barbecue traditions ? Some put meat to grill on charcoal ? And others put meat to grill on charcoal ? I see now !

    :-)

i have owned many Bimmers in L.A., Rolls, Jags, Alfa Romeo,, but here no way. do not trust Thai mechanics. my BMW mechanic back home was a former aircraft mechanic from S. Africa who worked for a leading British Airline. immaculate shop. better than any dealer experience i have had.

... said Bill gates who has now decided to save ! hahahaha...

    hahahaha...

As if any German cars mechanic had to think about anything !

This is actually one of the reasons why I only drive Benz, they connect the computer and follow what is told !

Do you think that I am dumb enough to trust any Thai at work, especially when it's about security ?

So of course it's a lot safer to drive German cars serviced by Benz or BMW than any other cheap brands for cheap charlies.

Hmmm........ not a good experience and judging by your description it would be my opinion that rather than the wine being just simply poor, that it was actually off, this especially as you mention vinegar in your description, which is caused by the bacteria (acetobacter) getting into the wine and spoiling it.

Having said that I am not a fan of Montclair in any way, shape or form, for reasons I have noted on many threads about wine.

In addition, making a "champagne style" wine is a multistep process and is expensive, so other methods are used to create "sparkling" wine, some of which can be very good, however the cheapest of which involves just injecting carbon dioxide into the finished wine product. I don't know which method Siam winery used, but you can be assured that it was not the methode champenoise method, but certainly one of the less expensive ones, if not the cheapest!

    Which one ?

This 199 thb Charles Strong is acceptable for people used to drink sht montclair and acceptable marysol.

I find this Charles strong even better than Marysol.

Of course it's not real wine, but enough to get drunk with 1 bottle !

And it's even cheaper after tax increases !

You can't always be so sure.

Anyway so they brand as authentic BBQ. Authentic to what BBQ tradition? There are so many. I find it weird that their branding doesn't make that clear.

Sent from my Lenovo A7020a48 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

For me it is perfectly clear. The only restaurant that will barbecue meat before your eyes.

Do you know any other places doing this apart from street sellers ?

What barbecue tradition do you know ? Barbecue is barbecue, I do not see anything else to think about ?! But I might be wrong.

To clarify, many BMW and Benz are assembled locally. If I was looking for a BMW I’d probably go for a 4-series. Good looks, a strong diesel engine, and a four door option if you have a family.

Am more of a Benz guy myself. Although I love sports cars the roads in Thailand can be brutal and having a less sporty more comfortable option suits me better. Also slightly better resale, local brand image and dealer network.

Had an Audi sports car here before. Great fun but limited usage. Would only get another sports car if I lived in Chiang Mai and had more of a chance to use it.

The Bangkok Pattaya motorway is good to test the 250km/h...

And my S class is not too sporty :-)

I found this thread after having already made reservations on Koh Chang and have just spent my first day here at Kai Bae Beach.  Can anybody recommend a beach where when I walk out into the water, it isn't completely rocky underfoot?  Somewhere that is sandy, similar to Kata or Naiharn on Phuket (the only other beaches I have been to in Thailand).  Thanks ?

Forget it there, it's ugly everywhere, even if misters know all of this forum keep talking chit.

i meant krabi town. sorry for confusion.  krabi town versus saladan ko lanta.  i want beach running and i know krabi town to beach at o nang is a pleasant scooter ride away . and long beach on lanta is good for running.  i haven't been to lanta for years but now thier is bridge across so i would assume it has become more delevoped.  with more massage places and restaurants.  ive had challange in past finding good massage in krabi town and i would assume its the same story in lanta. thier is a good restaurant in krabi town. but i wont give up the name because its the only good restaurant and thier is a waiting list to sit down. although i know she is making a second restaurant for overflow which is probably ready by now.  when will the thais figure out the restaurant game.

Really, this restaurant thing is so ridiculous...

The first thing to do is ignore the ignorance of this poster. Ko samui is in the gulf  so unless you take trips to adjoining islands you will find most beaches are shallow and the water not clear compared to Andaman sea. Ao Nang mentioned by another  is a busy town but really has little in the way of decent beaches unless you pay for long tail boats  to take you to Railly beach etc. Ko Lanta is far more laid back and the Muslim presence very low key. You will be able to explore a number of beaches by scooter varying from long open beaches to smaller coves. Being in the Andaman the water is much clearer if you like snorkeling. There are also worthwhile day trips by speedboat to Ko Muk ,the emerald cove etc. where you can swim and snorkel too. There are a number of varied restaurants which you can see listed on Trip Advisor . If you need a more vibrant night life and shopping facilities  this may not be the place for you but everything else is rather better.

Yes, you are right, and Muslim also like dogs hahahaha...

So weird that people never feel ridiculous.

OP: if you really want to see a nice beach, never go to Lanta !

What I know better than a review is that I went there in January having also been to Ko chang,Phuket and Ko samui variously for about the past 20 years. I’m also a bsac qualified dive leader having dived Similans,Red Sea,great barrier reef, Mexico etc....What exactly is your experience/qualification  other than pig ignorance ?

You certainly know better inside the sea than outside. I have no interest in the crap that you see under and this stupid activity, but having lived and visited all Thai islands for 20 years, I am sure that I know better than you what is a nice beach, especially when reading your ridiculous comments.

Still waiting for your photos of incredible Koh lanta beaches 555555+

No, I am asking if people who bought chanote land in good faith over the last 10 years, or people looking to purchase land - will find themselves with a worthless chanote and risk of losing their homes in future, due to land areas being illegally issued a chanote by unscrupulous officials who then quietly retire.

This has happened on various islands on a huge scale. Koh Chang is a prime example, with one agent knowingly trying to offload land for sellers, when both parties know that area is under investigation. A prime example is a large luxury condo development overlooking Bangbao fishing village. Its under investigation right now with court dates, yet the owners are still marketing and selling the next phase!

Also a well known seaview luxury condo development on the south tip of Phuket has just been found to have suspect status, with some owners quietly offloading their condos at keen prices.

So to reiterate, are Samui plots generally safe, or if not, which parts of the island may have areas which are potentially high risk?

Evidences ? Or maybe you know more than the press ?
