No sympathy too for the drunk driver, i hope that besides the hospital bill they will give him a high fine. People who drink and drive deserve all that they get.
You were 100% right the Indian was sitting in the car it was the Thai who hit him.
Lucky that this guy did not injure someone else.. only sad part is that the Indian his car is damaged. Would have been better if the drunk hit a concrete post or something. Selfish pricks drinking and driving (same goes for other drugs)
so it was a Thai on the motorbike thanks for the update

not sure the nationality of the rider of the bike but unless I am reading this all wrong the driver of the pickup was stopped at the lights (Indian) and was rear ended by the bike rider who was drunk. I have absolutely no sympathy for the drunk driver - it is just luck that only he was injured, it could have been anyone
I was out last night and was walking home in the small hours (I have a motorbike that stays at home when I go out), I constantly fear being hit by a drunk driver and I am very careful during my journey to have a clear view of all vehicles both behind and in front of me as I walk because quite a number of them will be drunk - 2am onwards right to 6am it is very dangerous on these roads as drunks drive home
constantly fear hmmmm and if your bike stays at home when you go out, it never gets ridden, why you have ????

It took worse than a nose dive once the owners split the place the up and then stopped paying the cable bill and let both pool go to trash, I owned a nice double unit in there when it was really nice and loved the location.
is that the one that had the bunker bar at sukumvit end, if so i use it as a shortcut looks past its best

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. For all we know, they could have been served copious amounts of beef and bean burritos. Depending on the size of that elevator, the oxygen content of the lift could have well be compromised.
I usually let one loose in the lift but always blame it on my boy.

Wasn't Thailand's last successful election held in July of 2011 and not 2010, as "The Nation" has stated in the above article?
an election is an election, success only applies to the winner, if you refuse to vote UP TO YOU now go away and throw your toys out the pram. ps. this is not directed at above poster but to the 2014 election

Yes, I still follow the news everyday. And there is no question that our current rulers are also not exactly clean.
And I am aware of the fact that we read in the news only part of what is going on.
All in all I still think what Thaksin did was a lot worse than what the current people in charge are doing. Part of it is probably also the fact that Thaksin just had to rub it in all the time. It was not enough that he was corrupt and it was not enough that he preferred people who voted for him. He had to tell everybody all the time that he gets away with his crimes and he was proud to work only for the Thais who voted for him.
I don't think Prayut or anybody of the current crowd is even half as bad as Thaksin.
well said, like most of the post's i have read they all mostly have credence, but but, bad is bad, you either abide by the law or you do not. their are no different levels

"...For Thailand’s sake, let’s move beyond Thaksin..."
Thailand is not going to 'move beyond Thaksin' for a while because of one, very simple reason...
If there were genuinely Free and Fair elections here, Thaksin would win. Easily.
I know it.
You know it.
He knows it.
Prayut knows it.
The Military know it.
All the security services know it.
All the political parties know it.
All international observers of Thailand know it.
All of Thailand knows it.
All. Every last person.
The Democratic will of Thailand is not being respected, and all know it.
And, the article brings out the old canard of Thaksin being "convicted". First, it is almost certainly true that he is guilty of something; all of Thailand's leaders fall into that category. However, the article, as usual, misses the point.
If all of Thailand's political leaders are guilty of some kind of wrong-doing (and they almost certainly all are), then a 'conviction' of one while all the others get off without a proper investigation and/or proper trial renders that conviction meaningless.
When General Rolex is escorted to the 'big house', I'll happily help drag Thaksin there. Until then, spare me the nonsense that the "conviction' matters in the slightest.
It is a cheap, meaningless political talking point, nothing more.
RIGHT RIGHT and RIGHT again

Yes, same thought as mine. I have previously commented on the morbid curiosity of the Thais and the lack of respect for the victims. You would not see photos/clips like this in the UK press.

How is the exposure of at risk marginalized people to infectious disease and toxic waste a win?
Look at the workers. Aside from cheap latex gloves, no protective equipment of any kind. They are being forced into dealing with waste/debris that is classified as a biohazard. These inmates are at risk because many are in prison for drug related offences. Drug users in Thailand have a higher incidence of TB and immune system suppressed related conditions. This makes them more vulnerable to opportunistic infections. It is morally wrong and evil to have workers climbing into sewers wearing flip flops. They will come out with fungus and parasites attached to their feet. No amount of rinsing will clean that away. It is unacceptable to have these people in shorts and tshirts climbing into sewers and drainage pipers where dengue carrying mosquitoes are in high concentration. If they are going to do this work, then give them the appropriate clothes and protective gear.

a few weeks back was put on ICU , and I was told when he was visited he
was stone cold and no sign of life, but they kept him wired up and only after a phone call from family in UK, they unplugged him....total bill for 36
hours...700,000 baht ,so at least this old chap was conscious, and would be able to sign himself out..... before he was bankrupted.
I hope the old chap has a speedy recovery.
I will get an update on this story tomorrow.
