And how much did he charge you?
-
These ratings are not internationally recognized but by country. In the United States f. e. by Underwriter Laboratory (UL). The ratings by the labs differ widely between countries. If you want a serious safe, I would recommend a safe of at least 200kg, 300 would be better. Ceramic safes are lighter and more heat (fire & torch) resistant, but more expensive. Concrete safes are heavier and cheaper. Don't mind the torch ratings too much, since most professionals would use a Flex. Combination and key (get a foldable & detachable one you can carry with you in a tiny leather pouch on your key ring) is the safest combo.

Extension Date 5August - Can I touch 400k today?
Barley replied to Barley's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I understand that now. Thank you. But I am still not clear (maybe I am thick ???? if that would be tomorrow, the 5th, or the day after on the 6th of November. When the extension stamp says 5 August. Or a different day all together, since date of application or date on the extension stamp may be different? -
Extension Date 5August - Can I touch 400k today?

So that means tomorrow would be the earliest? Correct? -
Hello, the date of my 12 months extension was August 5th, can I spend some of the 800k today? I am not sure if the rule is 3 months (I guess that would be tomorrow, 5th of November) or 90 days which would be today. If it is tomorrow I would need to transfer money from overseas. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your replies. I finally bought a Yamaha Mio 125cc with fuel injection, 2015 model, 2017 first registration 31TKM for 18000. So far I am pretty happy. Shocks are great, good and smooth acceleration.

I can buy a Suzuki Address 125cc for 28.000 Baht, 5500 km, 2 years old. Is it a good deal? Is it a good bike with inexpensive repairs and solid performance? What do you think?

Motorcycle Insurance to Cover Damage to Other Vehicle?
Barley replied to Barley's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Exactly, that's why I think increasing liability insurance on an old bike makes the most sense. Actually I find it pretty scary to ride around in Thailand without 3rd Party Property Damage (=property liability) insurance. If you hit an expensive car, that could really hurt your bank book. -
Motorcycle Insurance to Cover Damage to Other Vehicle?
Barley replied to Barley's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Here is a very good primer on motorcycle insurance in Thailand: https://www.expatden.com/thailand/motorbike-insurance-thailand/ This excerpt explains about covering opponents vehicle damage: 3rd Party Property Damage: The whole idea of the 3rd Party Property Damage is similar to collision coverage but only covers the car of the opposing party. This is the selling point of Type 3 coverage because you’ll only need to fix your own motorcycle from the accident without having to worry on the opposing party. So basically instead of 3+ I only need Type 3 coverage. Unfortunately Roojai doesn't seem to offer Type 3, only 3+. So I wonder where else to look for Type 3 insurance. -

Well, here is the copy of the quote. If it isn't what I think (see above) it is, then please let me know. Your advice would be appreciated. And kindly answer: "So the dealer includes compulsory insurance with the purchase. Is it ok to take his insurance and then add-on 3+ insurance from Roojai?" Roojai Quote Motorcycle Insurance.pdf -

Motorcycle Insurance to Cover Damage to Other Vehicle?

Thanks for the hint with Roojai.com: Apparently what I need is 3+ insurance to cover opponents vehicle damage: My quote for a Honda Click 125i 2008 is about 2000 TBH including the 300 TBH compulsory insurance. Expensive but probably worth it. 600.000 TBH property damage included. -
Hello, I am about to buy a ~10 year old used motorcycle (Honda Click) in Chiang Mai. I have rented motorcycles before and what the Farang owner of the rental shop told me, made me scratch my head and so I want to get to the bottom of this: He said that motorcycle insurance in Thailand covers only personal damage not property damage - so in other words, if someone driving a motorcycle runs into another vehicle the insurance would only cover damage to the passengers of the other vehicle and not the property damage to the other vehicle. I would want to buy insurance for the motorcycle which will be registered under my friends name and I want her and myself be registered as drivers with full liabilty coverage to property and personal damage. Maybe you could give me some hints. ???? Thanks.

Hello, if I want to loan a Thai person money secured by a first mortgage on their property, how do I go about? My Thai friend is to buying a property. We are thinking to put a mortgage in my favor on her property to consolidate and secure my loans to her for her business. What would be the procedure and are there any special taxes or fees involved. Maybe someone could share their experience. Thank you.

Thank you all for your suggestions. The above site seems like a good idea, but the yield was only two bikes starting around 39000 TBH. I could maybe go to 12000 TBH, but it should be a scooter, not a real motorbike.

Hello, could you tell me where in Chiang Mai can I buy a used Honda Click for around 10.000 TBH?

Hello, I don't have much experience with financing companies in Thailand. But in my country if a friend/relative is in financial trouble with a bank or financing company and it is clear that there are no assets and the loan cannot be paid and has been non-performing for a while, I could step in and offer the debtor maybe 30% on the outstanding amount, and probably settle after some negotiations for 30-50% and then he will be debt free. I am wondering if I could do the same in Thailand for a friend who has a province court case tomorrow. When would be the best time to make a settlement offer? Before the court case to the adversary's lawyer, after the court case, or maybe even during the court negotiations by giving the settlement offer to my friend's lawyer? Anything else I would have to consider? I would be happy if people with experience in debt settlements could share their advice.
