  1. Why not spend the money you will pay an agent to make a trip home and apply for a OA long stay visa. That would get you another 2 years of total stay here.
Yes that's what I do now but with the upcoming insurance not sure if I will buy insurance. I have an HSA and a catastrophic insurance from United health. Not sure if that will be accepted. If they accept it, I will keep on getting OA. My next one is due on Mar 2020 and things will be clear by that time hopefully.

  2. Therein lies the rub.  Some people (such as myself) can't initiate a SWIFT transfer from Thailand even if they want to.  My home bank will only accept walk-in service--meaning you physically have to walk into a branch to initiate the transfer.  On the other hand, I have the option of several family members that can do transfers for me, and I've already pre-arranged this in the event TransferWise fails at some point in the future.  But SWIFT transfers are expensive, so I'll stick with TW until I can't.

Everyone should try to have a plan B...
My plan A and plan B both are agents. I keep 800k in highly rated bond investment in the USA and I can use the returns to avail agent services.

  3. I find it amusing that so many people are getting their nickers in a twist over TransferWise. Thinking that because they want something that is not advertised they should get it.

They have always stated that the transfers are domestic both from you foreign account and to your Thai account, that is one of the reasons why the fees are so low, there has been the luck that transfers into Bangkok Bank accounts often/usually show as FTT. Then the r/EntitledPeople get pissed off when the cheap transfer works as advertised, as a domestic transfer.

When and if TransferWise starts advertising international transfers into Thailand (probably at extra cost) then you will have a legitimate complaint if they don't show as FTT.

If you want a guaranteed international transfer then use SWIFT from your overseas account to your Thai bank account.
Today I found out chase can do swift for $5 if transfer is less than 5k USD and free for 5,k or more. But their exchange rate is terrible compared to transferwise.

  4. I dont see the bank of Thailand letting the THB get the strong. If the THB gets that strong it will kill exports. Just like when the govt rasied wages, allot of work (mostly textiles, who were already struggling) went to cambodia.
If they intervene inspire of a large foreign currency reserve, US and other countries may impose tariff for currency manipulation that will reduce exports.

  5. When you use a Thai medical certificate fo you also use a Thai Police report or Thai Medical certificate along with a home country police report also works? I don't have problem getting police report in the US (for free) and doctor's report is also relatively easy for me but it will require an appointment and last year insurance paid for the physical exams (ACA mandate of yearly physical exams for all health insurances in the USA) for the doc's report.

  6.
The company I work for owns apartment buildings in Bangkok. The company charges the tenants 5 baht per unit, which is fractionally more than we are charged.

We charge tenants 16 baht per unit for water, which is fractionally less than we are charged.
Can you please show me an ad for your company in the web that says 5bht/unit. You can send me a private email if ads are now allowed in this forum.

5 Baht is a standard rate in many condos, I have seen it as high as 8 or 9 Baht in the past

Please show me a few published rate of 5BHT in condos. I have never seen it. It is always 7/8 BHT in Bangkok. But we are talking about apartment (or mansion) not real condos. In condos like I rent in Chom Tian, I pay the government rate. There is no mark up. Once in Bankok I confronted the manager of a mansion for charging me 8 BHT, he just said you signed the contract knowing very well the rate is 8 BHT.  Well, I thought he had a point.

Everyone except white folk is welcomed to Thailand.

White folks have been enjoying Thailand's brothels (fronting as bars), pimping Thai girls in bars (as managers/owners), and even marrying the sex workers for a long time. Now it is time to open up the land of brothels to the rest of the World so that others can also enjoy what Thailand has to offer or as I say the "lure"

I left a few weeks ago and have a permitted to stay stamp till April 2020.

Confusing. Are you still in Thailand or outside? You left few weeks ago. You get permitted to say when entering Thailand not when you leave.
If you're outside Thailand and the date on your visa STICKER says valid until August 2019, you must return to Thailand before that date.

For one millionth time, the date on your VISA sticker is for the validity of visa that means the date on or before you can present yourself to the border IO to ask for permission to enter the country. The date on the entry stamp (square stamp on a passport page) is the date up to which you can stay in Thailand without being an over-stayer. That stamp does not allow you to enter Thailand or present yourself to the IO at the border for permission to enter. You need a reentry permit for that.
