If you're in the US, the best option is to open a Bangkok Bank account and then use your account no and Bangkok Bank (NY) to do an ACH transfer from your US bank account to Bangkok Bank account in Thailand.

In the past, I have worked in a very similar manner to the OP. Using online meeting software is a viable alternative when meeting in person is impractical. However, the face-to-face meeting is always preferable when easy to arrange. I find it quite credible that any contacts in Thailand would like to meet in person when they know both parties will be in the same city.
That said, when clients are in Thailand, and you are doing work for them here, it is not clear that the general tolerance for digital nomads will apply. The authorities generally expect someone to have a work permit when working here for Thai clients.
MY general understanding is that meeting clients, teaching classes, doing market research, or even helping client to resolve their problems. explore market opportunities, etc. are all considered "working" in all countries and it is denied on a tourist visa in all countries. Watched too many episodes of UK boarder Force TV series. :)

5.2 A copy of all entries of the applicant’s passbook showing that the applicant has a savings or fixed deposit account of not less than Baht 800,000* (all documents must be in the Applicant’s name).
5.3 Evidence of foreign currency fund transferred to Thailand*

Can somebody please explain how that can be done on the same day. Most banks will open at 11. By the time I get the document it will be noon. I go to chaengwattana immigration around 1 PM. Where is the time to do on the same day? Is there any other way to do so?
And what evidence is required to show foreign currency fund transfer? Is the bank going to give a letter?

Bangkok bank clearly states what you need to open an account. Here it is
For Foreigners
1. Foreigner with a Work Permit- Passport
- Work Permit
2. Foreigner with Long-stay or Tourist Visa- Passport
-
A Letter of Reference issued by: (One of the following)
- Embassy or international organization
- Customer’s home bank to Bangkok Bank via the SWIFT messaging network
- Person acceptable to Bangkok Bank e.g. branch officer, customer, government officer or company executive
- Educational institution located in Thailand and acceptable to the bank
- Company that is acceptable to the bank, confirming the customer is in the process of getting a work permit
For Embassy certification letter, you need to take this form and get it certified.
Please post your experience if you have done it from US embassy.
I have an appointment on Dec 20 to get it from US embassy.
-
On my first entry on Dec 15, I will be allowed to stay until Feb 12th
On my second entry on Jan 1 (using the re-entry permit) I will still be allowed to stay until Feb 12, not Feb 28 (60-days from Jan 1).
Bottom line I have to get an extension of 30 days before Feb 12.
Does the extension starts from Feb 12 or the day I go to immigration office?
-
Why it should be? They will be glad to take the visa fee.

I am going to Thailand in December 15, 2017 on a SE Tourist Visa from the US. The visa is valid till March 1 (Enter before March 1)
I am assuming I will be give 2 months stay. So, I can stay till Feb 15.
I have to leave for Hong Kong on December 22, 2017 for some urgent work. I will return to Thailand again on Jan 1, 2018.
Can I get a reentry permit to keep my tourist visa valid?
Because I want to extend my tourist visa by 30 -days and then change it to a Non-O for a possible retirement extension.
-
It states Non-O is only available for
1) Family support
2) Volunteer work
3) Condo owner
Document is required in all cases. For example, marriage certificate, letter of invitation to do volunteer work or paper for ownership. Non-O is for 3 months stay. You can do retirment extension after financial proof is shown inside Thailand

So OP, you can bring back the THB that technically you should not have taken out in the first place
May be one exchanged other currencies to baht outside Thailand.

If he is 67, he is entitled to Social Security anywhere in the World and Medicare when he is inside the US. If he is in the Thailand for 20 years, he came when he was 47. One needs to work only 10 years in the US for at least a minimum SS benefits. There must be some mental issue and hope US embassy helps him sort it out for him.

Thanks NanLaew for the good idea. To be on safe side. I will change excess of 50K to USD
-
Thanks.
On IATA page, I see this
Local currency: up to THB 50,000.- per person or THB 100,000.- per family holding one passport.
Foreign currencies: unlimited. However, amounts of foreign currency exceeding USD 20,000.- (or equivalent) must be declared to a Customs Officer upon arrival by all travelers.http://www.iatatravelcentre.com/TH-Thailand-customs-currency-airport-tax-regulations-details.htm

I visit Thailand two/three times a year. Last time when I left Thailand I had around 60K baht (Thai currency) with me.
Is it safe to enter Thailand with 60K baht (Thai currency) in my next visit from USA with a US passport. What is the limit?
-
ubonjoe, thanks for a quick reply. let me summarize the process you outlined.
1. Get a 30-day extension of the current tourist visa so that I can stay up to Nov 30, 2017
2. My money was deposited in Bangkok Bank on Sept 2. Hence, I can only apply for change of status after Nov 2.
3. A few days after Nov 2, I apply for visa status change from tourist to non-immigrant visa (category o). Do you know the immigration form no for this?
-
Current Situation.
1. Tourist visa from Chicago consulate with US passport
2. Bangkok bank account with 800K deposit for the last one month.
3. Stamped admitted until 31st Oct, 2017
4. Enter before stamped in visa is Nov 14, 2017
5. Currently living in Thailand (Pattaya) for almost one month.
6. US passport holder and age is 50+
Can some one please outline the steps now required for getting retirement visa for long-stay (one year)
Does the 800k Baht for extension based on retirement have to come from outside Thailand.

I am still confused about
Documents under 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 must be issued and updated to be the same date of the Application. How is this logistically possible to get these documents from banks and go to immigration office, wait in queue, and then present them before the officer on the same day?
