Tragic scooter crash in Thailand leaves Queensland dad in coma
BadSpottedDog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I read the fundraiser link posted on The Thaiger. It says that he had valid travel insurance. However, it seems that his partner was wearing a helmet, and walked away unscathed, and seems to indicate that this guy was NOT wearing a helmet. The fundraiser states that the insurance is not paying. I would guess that it won't pay because either he didn't have a legal driving license, OR the fact that he wasn't wearing a helmet. So many people think they're covered no matter what. They should read the fine print. This is really sad. -
Thai emission laws transform: What drivers need to know
BadSpottedDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They can put whatever law they want to in the books, but until they start pulling drivers over for breaking the laws, it's pointless. -
I saw the road blocks checking cars and motorbikes for several days. But obvious check points are NOT going to catch a majority of drunk drivers. The cops should be on the road like they are in other countries, pulling people over for moving violations. If this doesn't happen, it will never get better!

Karma. Who doesn't do research before participating in activities!? Just a few simple google searches would have revealed that it's not only dangerous for people to ride elephants, it's extreme cruelty to the elephant. Remember the tourist that was gored to death in front of his daughter, on Samui several years back? And let's not even talk about the extreme cruelty elephants endure during the "elephant crush" done when they're younger, to break their spirits. It's horrible. No wonder the elephant reacted badly to a whip!

Blockbuster movie scares Chinese tourists away from Thailand
BadSpottedDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Having lived in Thailand for a long time, I honestly don't think this movie is the cause for a huge drop in tourism. Maybe a small portion of it? There are many more logical reasons why numbers are low. -
I agree that this is the dog owner's fault, not the dog's! I think it is tragic not only for the poor man who was attacked, but also that the dog had to suffer painful death due to lack of training by the owner. All pit bulls I've interacted with in the past have been lovely, but they have been taught well and know boundaries.

Thailand to reduce visa approval time for Chinese tourists
BadSpottedDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This makes no sense. Especially considering I'm getting these 2 articles side by side in my email, and I keep hearing that Chinese and Russians are the main culprits of making visas harder to get. -
Pictures of school lunches spark social media outrage

If they're cutting back on nutrition like this, then how much are they cutting back on quality education? -
Thai cyanide serial killer: Big Joke hands over case reports

Her eyes look 'dead'. People like this have no emotion. No compassion. No regret. They are sick, lost souls that don't deserve to have a place with the rest of us. -
Pita Limjaroenrat’s PM bid threatened by iTV share controversy
BadSpottedDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't know much about the new PM/party, but I do smell a 'hit job' going on here. Much ado about nothing. Commonly known as dirty politics. What are they afraid of? -
