  1. Agreed! I've heard so many horror stories with the Thai pass. We're staying hunkered down in Thailand until it changes. We haven't traveled for three years now, but we feel lucky to have been in our quiet little beach town during this whole nightmare.
  2. They need to hurry up on that digital nomad visa. They are missing out on a potential influx of digital nomads who make good money, and will spend it in Thailand long term. These people might not work for a traditional company though, so I'm afraid it will be the same old "Must have a degree. Must have a work permit. Must have referrals, blah blah blah." That won't work. Make it easy and they will come!
  3. I would too. Fortunately, there's Soi Dog Foundation. They go into an area for months at a time, and sterilize most of the cats and dogs there, then move on to other areas. They were on Samui for over a year! If you ever want to help or donate to the cause, they would be a great candidate. What dedicated people, and the vets are AWESOME! Best surgeries I've ever seen! Here's their link. Soi Dog Foundation
  4. ????‍♀️ Ummm .... shouldn't Thai drivers know about red traffic lights BEFORE they are "drivers"?
  5. In the US, 15 yr olds can get "permits" (not licenses), which means they can drive for practice with a parent or another adult. Licenses are given at 16, after they pass a written test and a road test. Traffic laws are heavily enforced. If you get so many points off your license for offenses (I think 3 points?), they revoke it for a long time, depending on offenses. If you're caught driving on a suspended license you get arrested.
  6. They won't wear helmets, but they ALL wear a mask on a motorbike. Even when driving alone! Can someone explain this logic to me? It's baffling. If the Thai govt can use the same tactics as they do to get people to wear masks, for helmets as well, I think it would be a huge improvement.
  7. I hope they keep them going until they end the expensive quarantine coming back into Thailand. I know test and go is coming back, but the new articles do not say if you must be vaccinated or not. They are not clear if it's the same exact plan as before. Good luck!
  8. I know someone whose covid extension is ending early Feb. The local immigration told him that he could extend it again on Jan 24th, which would allow extra time. Don't know if that will help you.
  9. I read the entire, original article, and it said nothing about test and go tourists being fully vaccinated. Is this a change? Or was this just an accidental omission? Curious.
  10. Are most of you clicking through to the main article? It says this. What do tourists get? The government says that in exchange for the Bt300 fee, foreigners will get medical insurance coverage of up to Bt500,000 and Bt1 million in case of death or serious injury. If that covers covid, I think it's a win. So many questions though .... How long is the coverage good for? Will it work for expats returning? Does it cover private hospitals?
  11. Interesting that this popped up. We just went through similar. My Mom is 80, in a care home, & in late stage Alzheimer's. She also has nodules on her lungs from childhood, which has always caused her issues. She has previously had severe reactions to vaccines, so I refused the covid vaccine for her. We got the call that she had covid a couple of weeks ago. They were preparing to give her Remdesivir. I refused that, but requested other meds, high dose vit C via IV, and other vitamins instead. She only had a fever for one day, and is now back to normal. I'm so sorry for this Thai woman & her family. I guess you just never know.
  12. I agree they should have investigated on their own, but to be fair, no other country that I know of, forces people into hospitals if they test positive. Quarantine, yes. But hospital is unreasonable. Additionally, all the info floating around in cyber space about Thailand, is not clear, contradictory, and Thai websites not reliable.
  13. I hope Thailand keeps up with the changes on the testing methods, in order to gain more accurate numbers. The CDC is making this change as of Dec 31st. Read carefully. After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel ...

  16. Do ya think this would work? Hysterical! Well worth watching. Speed Limit Dashboard Monk
  17. We went through getting our driver's license here. It's shameful. The training is a joke. Everyone is buried in their phone or asleep during the videos (which I don't think really makes a difference anyway), and police never give out moving violations! There needs to be accountability BEFORE someone dies, not after.
  18. Total Thailand covid deaths as of today, according to worldometer is 21,149. Take into account that covid tests can be faulty, and recommended hospital protocol isn't working, the number is probably lower.
  19. In the past 6 out of 7 places we've rented in Thailand, those landlords had zero clues what a TM 30 was. We always did our own. It's a pain. Good luck! (edit) We always rented houses, not apartments.
  20. I keep wondering/asking exactly what testing is done to isolate different variants. So far, I have not received an answer anywhere.
  21. What I've been reading, from this source, doctors, and others, say it's WAY milder. 3 days and done. 'Symptoms Were So Different And So Mild'
