Thailand ramps up emissions reduction goal
BadSpottedDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How about holding drivers accountable, who are driving vehicles with enormous clouds of black smoke blowing out the back of their vehicle? Same goes with the Raja ferries. It's so bad, I can't even ride on them. Let's also not forget the trash problem, and water pollution. Start with these. Don't count on electric cars being the answer ... they are not practical at this point, and may never be. -
Live your lives normally, but carefully, says Vachira director

Agreed! And let's not forget the bacteria that collects in a mask over a short period of time. There are reports from analysis on kids' masks, & what bacteria was found after one use. It was shocking. -

There is strong information showing developmental delays can happen in small children wearing masks. It makes sense too. Especially those who are made to wear them at home as well as school. Getting cues from facial expression & learning language are greatly hindered by mask wearing. Seeing faces are a prime source of social, emotional and linguistic signals. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/masks-can-be-detrimental-to-babies-speech-and-language-development1/ -
There are cases of covid and flu vaccinated people dying of covid or flu. CDC apparently stopped counting covid breakthrough cases, according to forbes. Here's the article. https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2021/06/26/cdc-4115-fully-vaccinated-have-been-hospitalized-or-died-with-breakthrough-covid-19-infections/?sh=1a78972f6993

A friend flew in recently. Tested negative before the flight & after. Went into quarantine, and at the end of the time period, he tested positive. He had 0 symptoms, (still has 0 symptoms) but had to go to hospital for 2 weeks. Now he has to pay to be in hospital quarantine with other covid patients. My guess is a false positive from the test, but if he really does have it, he most likely contracted it in ASQ. THIS is what people are worried about. One false positive, and you're shuttled off to a hospital for 2 weeks. Stop putting every single person who tests positive in hospital! Let people retest. Look at each individual case!
-
It seems that Thailand officials think the more paperwork you have, the more legit it is. Whatever the case. The redundant paperwork required for opening a company to being in the hospital to immigration is over the top, and painful. So it's not surprising that their covid requirements are the same. Thailand needs some serious lessons in streamlining.

Stop putting everyone who tests positive in the hospital! Do home quarantine like the rest of the world does! I'm sure so many false positives have been put in with other covid patients and actually contracted it that way. Plus, it creates a big demand on hospitals. I've seen so many covid patients that only suffer cold like symptoms. There is no reason for them to be taking up hospital beds.

Thailand Pass To Entice More International Tourists
BadSpottedDog replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"Face raped". HAHA. Gotta remember that. We actually bought spit tests from our pharmacy. Since my husband had sinus surgery, the face rape method isn't an option. So far, our dentist here in TH accepted the sealed test we provided. From what I've read, spit tests are more accurate anyway. -
Yes. All contributors! I've noticed the slippery paint on the roads, and ALSO the trash trucks dripping grease/slime on the streets. I've known several people wipe out because of that. It's so hard to understand why they have never properly addressed these issues. Thailand road deaths are terribly high. We literally moved away from Koh Samui, because we almost got hit head on at high speed a couple of times from the tourist vans overtaking in a blind spot.
-
I would guess that bad roads cause far fewer motorbike deaths than 1. Lack of helmets 2. No proper (required) road training 3. No enforcement of traffic laws I've never seen anyone get a moving violation. I recently got my Thai license, and watched the process carefully. The "testing" was non existent & shameful actually. Western foreigners who had licenses in their country all shiver at the behavior of Thai drivers. Passing on blind turns. Pulling out without looking. No seatbelts. Speeding is unbelievable, and by in large, NO helmets. BUT they ARE all wearing masks ????. I'd think the chances of dying on Thai roads are far higher than dying from covid. But "this is Thailand".

COVID: Will European tourists return to Southeast Asia?
BadSpottedDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Another weird thing is that Thailand is still vying for chinese tourists, while China is isolating itself right now. No more traveling (not covid related). No more foreign teachers (even online), because they want to prevent foreign influence. I don't think Thai govt got the memo. -

I'm sure Europeans might be 'butt hurt' with this article. Do they seriously believe this? Quote: "Europeans 'just don't bring much money"- 118 replies
