The Anne Arundel County Fire Department, one of the agencies searching for Townsend and her son, said it had received a call on Thursday at about 4:30 p.m. local time, reporting that two people in a small canoe or kayak were drifting into Chesapeake Bay.

No Coast Guard or Lifeboat service?

You appear to have (deliberately) omitted this very relevant part for some reason...

"Rescuers were sent to the area and a search began."

Not true . Most people in rural Thailand have got French style toilet , and a bucket with water . Toilet paper is vary rare , and so is the bum spray . So the toilet is finished with hand + water and soap .

I must not live in the same rural Thailand as you ..
    I live year-round in a very small village in Isaan since 14 years ;

I can tell you that French-style toilets are in your dreams ...
and when you go to the local restaurant, you can look for the sink ..
and when you have the chance to find one, the tap turns on itself, the soap is absent as well as the towel.

The village in which you live is not the whole of Thailand, it is just your Isan village, so why generalise with garbage such as this previous comment of yours?...

"Thais never wash their hands, neither before nor after poo, nor after having worked anything ...
If 5% of Thai people wash their hands with water AND soap or gel, it's really a big maximum".

I'd put a lot more faith in that survey than your unjustifiable speculation.

Unfortunately- there is an error re the form about "At least 15 days" before the due date.

The 90 day should arrive no less than 7 days before and no more than 15 days....

Yes, I thought similar also except that arrival of the application at the IB is not specified, it's the days between which the report is posted (15 and 7) that are specified.

You can stay for 90 days or die from the virus which you got while applying for the visa.... whichever expires first, you or the visa.

Thai logic. It does not matter if you die, so long as you have a visa.

"You can stay for 90 days or die from the virus which you got while applying for the visa.... "

Only a tiny minority will die.  Thaivisa member logic...facts don't matter, just post it anyway.

The petition calls for the Thai government to provide extensions of stay for all foreigners for 2 months.

This did not happen. Tourists get an extension, Non-Immigrants no free pass. More evidence, IMO, that Thailand has clearly decided they only want short term tourists. More draconian measures for those that are attempting to live here.

Petitions rarely cause anything to happen (especially petitions with only 300-odd names!) because they're not the way to get things done, why would you expect this one to do anything?

"More draconian measures for those that are attempting to live here".

Draconian measures?  What?  What are the more onerous requirements for extensions that have now been added for those living here?

I get similar thoughts when driving on the congested roads. Where are all these people going? Are they just going out to buy something? Are they all working? Are they leaving the city? Why so many?

They're all wondering the same about you and why you're contributing to itWhy are you driving on the congested roads, where are you going, are you just going out to buy something, are you working here, are you leaving the city?

Perhaps your journey is more important than everyone else's?

A call to a Toyota dealer would give you an answer as opposed to Thaivisa guesses.

    You are on form today......

For your information I checked prices and then posted....Not a guess JW...

For your information, posting that you did that would have clarified it, then it doesn't look like a guess, t...

Why would he talk about Immigration issues when he is addressing the country and his people. That is the job of Immigration, and they have provided information. You are assumed to be able to read when travelling to a foreign country. You are also assumed to know what department that are dealing with what issues. Otherwise you can always ask the authorities.

Because his spokesperson said he would address it thats why

Did you read the start of his speech..."Dear Thai people"?

Presumably, you did, so why, exactly, do you think that he should talk about Immigration issues in an announcement addressed to Thais?  How do Immigration arrangements affect Thais?

But the ultimate goal is to eliminate this virus from Thailand as soon as we can so that everyone can be safe. Therefore, we cannot be careless, and we must prevent new infections and reduce the number of all infected persons to “zero”.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the case that we are almost all going to catch this virus at some stage, and the shutdowns and social distancing around the world are only to slow the spread and ensure emergency services and hospitals aren't totally overwhelmed? I never heard anybody(other than Prayuth here, and young idealistic foreigners on our local community forum) claim they can shove the genie back into the bottle.

He didn't claim that he could do that.   He said that "...we must prevent new infections and reduce the number of all infected persons to “zero”...".  You disagree with that sentiment?

    Dear Thai people

This message just for Thais then?

    Thought it would be.

Didn't you notice that this was an English-language version of his announcement, do you really think that it was, therefore, intended just for Thais?

Why don't you try contravening it and making that known if you think it's only for Thai people?  Does Boris Johnson not refer to "the British people" and Trump to "the American people", etc., for example?  Why, then, shouldn't Prayut refer to the citizens of the country of which he is PM as "Thai people"?

That is not empirical evidence that the figures are deliberately false which is the suggestion that I was responding to, that's just your opinion of the number of cases.

Ah now we are getting somewhere.

I for one would not state as a fact that the number of official cases are a deliberate fabrication ,

I didn't say that you did, or would, it's kadilo that made the claim I'm disputing the veracity of.

Thaivisa didn't write the OP, it's probably the Daily News' headline that they're not permitted to edit.

My understanding is that ThaiVisa News is a news amalgamator, It searches for reports issues by other news / media agencies worldwide then reprints those reports in ThaiVisa News Thailand/World, always mentioning the name of the source or originator.

It's seen as totally unethical (world wide), even illegal for ThaiVisa News (or any media agency) to change any of the words. Even possible the originating organization could sue if even 1 word is changed.

Mods, would you please kindly for correct my post as needed. Thank you.

    That's what I said!

  13. I think that there's a good chance that it'll be returned without a new reporting date as you posted it less than 15 days before the due date.  Mailed 90-day reports are supposed to be posted at least 15 days before the due date...

    https://www.immigration.go.th/content/sv_90day

"Send the mail before the renewal date 15 days to

    Oh the irony.
The only person getting agitated and angry using !!! Is you.

I'm not getting agitated, or angry, I'm commenting, that's all, and I've never used multiple "!!!s", that was you, yet another poster making a false claim.

There was no irony in my comments, I wasn't the one making unjustifiable claims!

There isn't any empirical evidence on TVF, it's a forum for opinions. Z42 expressed an opinion, which (as it happens) I kind of agree with, but that also is just an opinion.

My point exactly.  So perhaps those who categorically state or insinuate that the figures are deliberately inaccurate, when that is nothing more than their personal opinion based on nothing tenable, should pull their necks in!

Daily press briefings give the amount of cases and how many were tested..it's not an opinion, it's info given by the Thai government

Yes, and it is not empirical evidence that the figures are deliberately false which is the suggestion that I was responding to!
