  1. There’s always an excuse for doing nothing. The UK and the British public in particular have every right to be proud of their long history of generosity through charitable donations to help those in need in other parts of the world. I’m quite certain the British public will step up again and give help to victims of this earthquake, people in desperate need being helped by people renowned for their generosity.
  2. No it isn’t ‘whataboutism’ it is directly related to the issue. The NYP held back the Hunter Biden Laptop ‘story’ for 10 months, releasing as a pre-election ‘shocker’. Twitter held it back for 24 hours. Cue rightwing outrage. The ‘shameless Election Interference’ was from Murdoch’s NYP. The rightwing outrage arises because Twitter interrupted the NYP attempt at election interference for 24 hours.
  3. Agreed. A more relevant example would be the New York Post first receiving the Hunter Biden Laptop ‘story’ in December 2019 and reporting it in October 2020 as an election spoiler and the part Giuliani played in providing stolen data to the NYP. NYP journalist refused to have their name attached to the reporting and one NYP journalist had her name attached without her prior knowledge or agreement. Sorry if this has added to your righteous outrage, but I’m sure you’ll appreciate the broader picture.
  4. Make it simple. Ban all rifles that aren’t manual bolt action. Removing any spacious arguments around what is an ‘assault rifle’ while at the same time giving gun nuts a more wholesome form of ‘wrist exercise’ than their usual.
  5. ‘Statistically it saved no lives. Mass killings are insignificant when weighed against the larger picture of crime and murder in general. ‘ Perhaps you missed the bit about ‘mass killings’ ( there is a clue in the name) being reduced. As I said earlier, there’s always an excuse for doing nothing.
  6. It’s an excuse. Clinton’s ban on assault weapons reduced mass killings during the period it was in place. It wasn’t a perfect solution but it saved lives. Banning assault rifles, and those seen carrying them are immediately identifiable as breaking the law and a threat.
  7. The first bit of intelligence the Chinese (and anyone else bothered to observe) have gathered is the fact that floating a ballon across America can propagate division and political arguments. ‘Divide and rule’.
  8. I personally think it’s time for businesses to step up and ban guns being carried on their premises.
  9. There’s always an excuse for doing nothing.
  10. I’d much prefer we return to the practice of law without interference from the political executive.
  11. Says he who has already told us he deliberately missed the speech.
  12. I’m looking forward to Season 2.
  13. The first Bible wasn’t written in English, and in any case what became the first written texts were previously oral stories and poems. The New International Version is way down the line of translations and versions. The transmission, recording, translation, editing and re-editing of the Bible has almost certainly undertaken by men. So I wouldn’t put too much faith on your ‘his own image’ revelation.
  14. Why wouldn’t they be, ‘the woke world’ is itself a righting fabrication.
  15. More rightwing hot air out of the forth balloon. Meanwhile, it’s the economy stu…..
  16. Well he certainly wasn’t white with blue eyes and blond hair.
  17. It’s been two years and a failed insurrection. Get over it already.
  18. Reading Trump’s accusations as confessions is usually the shortest path to the truth.
  19. But it was all fine and dandy when the targets of his venomous mouth were the wives or children of his political opponents, people giving testimony against him or mocking disability?! This isn’t just Trump, it’s what Trump voters wanted from him and still want from him.
  20. The party of law and order fires 20,000 serving officers ten starts recruiting crooks and others unfit to serve in the police force.
  21. That’s spiffing, because it’s the only ‘thriving’ BREXIT is producing.
  22. The UK has not yet joined the CPTPP, and already has a trade agreement with Chili. But let’s not get too excited over a predicted 0.08% of growth: “ a summary of the Government’s own modelling of the economic impact of accession. It said that the estimated increase in UK GDP in the long run was 0.08%.” And as with so many things this Government are doing: “On the substance of the negotiations, the committee said its main concern was that the UK would require a number of “carve-outs” from the existing terms of CPTPP “ Refer link below and pay attention to which particular ‘cave outs’ are of concern: https://lordslibrary.parliament.uk/uk-membership-of-the-trans-pacific-trade-agreement/
  23. Bolton finally getting around to asking the right questions would be a welcome improvement, though around six years too late.
  24. As often is the case, The Independent is providing a far more detailed report than The Daily Mail. ”How did the Biden administration discover Chinese balloons from the Trump era? White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said the Biden administration was able to retroactively identify the presence of Chinese balloons in US airspace during Trump’s term after the US enhanced its “surveillance of our territorial airspace,” he said in remarks at an event hosted by the US Global Leadership Coalition, according to the Associated Press.” https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/chinese-spy-balloon-recovered-trump-latest-b2276371.html?amp
