^^ new posters on the footie forum are ALWAYs welcome, even those that know little about their chosen topics.
I'll never know the true meaning of being Spursy quite like Spurs fans do.

Just how Spursy will Spurs be this season? Already bought a player for the new season which is very unSpursy.

I seem to remember the last time looked at the WHO figures for road deaths by country, which quote deaths per 100,000 of population, Thailand was about 32-ish. The UK was 3.2 - 10% of Thailand's figure.
Even though the figures for all countries are adjusted to 100K population, Thailand and the UK have a similar-ish size country, with almost identical total population - 70 million.
So as you say, it should be a number one priority. The reason it will never be - no one in government gives a shit about deaths of their countrymen, they only want to know how much money they can make out of them.
Thailand is more double the size of the UK but you're right about the population.

So I have all the correct papers and pay all the correct taxes in Thailand. Yet, I go to tourist attractions and they treat me with the same regard they would a backpacker in a Chang wife beater. Why is it when it comes to religion days they blanket ban everyone the same? I'm a farang with zero religion, why ban me from doing anything in the name of their religion? Anyway, we all know where to buy beer and I'll be heading there later to raise a cold one to lord Buddha with the Thai Buddhist owner.

The folks who are knowingly and repeatedly breaking the immigration law are being 'purged' (using the OP's language) shouldn't be here in the first place. Chances are they are breaking other laws or are living in a manner dangerous to themselves or others. No doubt some are like parasites on unsuspecting or kind Thai's or Westerns. And what do they contribute to improve the quality of life of the community? Someone said they do their shopping at the small mom and pop stores which will miss their business once they're gone. Are you serious? This is a contribution? Having an income means I can support and improve my life and the life of my family. We live in and maintain a home, which supports the community and property values. We pay car tax, fuel tax, toll road tax, airfare tax which leads to improvements in the transportation infrastructure and jobs. We buy luxury goods which allows upscale property improvements such as shopping malls and requires international trade exchanges. We frequent fine dining restaurants which provide better job opportunities and pay for Thai people. Yes, we're only one household. But the Western who is living here in a cheap room, eating cheap food and wearing cheap clothes is really in need of help and not helping the economy. Please don't say you're living like a Thai. The Thai's that live in a cheap room, eat cheap food and wear cheap clothes are most likely trying to improve their situation or are in need of help themselves. The Western who has settled into this low lifestyle is showing the signs of mental illness. And if you're living here and don't feel the need to be a contributing member of the community, then you should move to a place where you do.
How's the air quality up there on your high horse? Can you see the peasantry through the haze when looking down your nose at the scum?

The guy at worowot market is massively overpriced - for example he wanted 1600thb for a kg of black cardamom. I went to the local market round the back of my house and found it there for 800thb per kg.
As for the ingredients you need fenugreek is surprisingly available in the makro close to central festival as are mustard seeds. Curry leaves never seen them in CM, something that is pretty unique to South Asian foods. Hing is used by Jain's and Hare Krishnas, amongst other, as a garlic/onion alternative. I have never seen it in CM but untill you find some just use garlic/onion paste in your cooking.

Cycling is safer than scooters/motorbikes for me. If you get hit by an oil tanker on a cycle or motorcycle then you're dead. Neither offers better protection. Cycling you're never tempted to weave in and out traffic on the superhighway at 120km/h just because you can. Why? It isn't possible. More thinking time on a bicycle. Can mount and dismount easy. Hop up and down curbs if need be. More thinking time on a bicycle. No police harrasment. They'll be other who'll say that cyclists are the scum of the earth, cause traffic and accidents, have no consideration for others, etc etc etc. But then you look at the roads and you'll notice that 99.99999% of all accidents are caused by motorists. But hey, cyclists are the bad ones don't forget.

There are tons of vegetarian restaurants around the city, some more hygienic than others. Very blessed with the number of eatery options available to veggies in Chiang Mai. May be worth taking your business elsewhere.

Taxi drivers tend to be the same the world over, always looking to squeeze that little bit extra from each fair. I try to avoid them like the plague and I'm happy to take public transport, walk, cycle and if I'm desperate, use Uber as at least if the driver does miss a U-turn then it's their time and money being wasted, not the customers.

Everyone who's buying their coffee by the kg and having it preground , how are you keeping the coffee fresh and at its best? I buy a 250 bag maybe once every ten days, or when needed, and hand grind when required. A couple days after opening it the freshness starts to drop and the change in taste noticeable.
