If anything, I'd say Thailand's Immigration Officers act far more independently than say the UK's, USA's or Australia's.  There are still countless examples of "blind eyes" being turned on the production of some baht, and even the infamous Agents are known to be back in business greasing the wheels for some people!

    Back in business?

Marriage extension today. 8am arrival, ticket # 6. It was nearly 12pm before we got to see the officer which if I'm being honest seemed a little slow to me.

Also, a first for us, on reading the Kor Ror 2 the officer noted that my wife had been married before and informed us that copies of her divorce certificate are now required. We are not new to this, it is our tenth renewal. So another new requirement if you're spouse has been married before. Needless to say we didn't have it...Ho hum.

Did he suggest the local agent might be a quicker option!

I'm a bit confused, when you update your address(same address but have stayed out of country) all you need is passport and address notification slip? you say all documentation do you mean passport and slip or something else?

LOL: i was also held up 2 months ago by a Chinese lady with her kid, 20 minutes talking and saying she didn't need this an that> Finally he got upset and just told her to leave>>

I thought agent assistance with such matters would have been pre booked and paid for as part of the package!????????

You mentioned this TM30 has been discussed a lot.  You should know Thai immigration policies have been applied differently in different provinces and even within the same office.  You live in Phuket and why should you worry about what is going on in CM?

Why should you butt in on the Phuket Forum, OP mentioned CM by way of explanation, do you know anything about Phuket requirements,if not ,why respond?

Its jeoulosy also and most of these stall or meal cart people dont know how hard the money is earned by most of the tourist and then spending a part of it. Some have more to spend and some less but the spending is visible.

Are you serious, nought to do with money. I bought your food, now I can insult you and your wife! Best change your handle.

Oh you were in that LB bar in Angeles?  I wandered in there once and I was scared too!

apart from that 'once years ago' you should try again. I've never had issues in Philippines, they are warm and friendly (much more than Thais) but the infrastructure is very poor.

Haha u too, no generally green I guess, but guns on hips of security in bars, folk living in horrible poverty, strong bar girl scene, flooded Manila all added up.Mind you I was 22 and solo.

Surely the Philippines does have some advantages over Thailand, the main one being you are not required to have this 800,000 baht tied up in a bank, no 3 month reporting and only costing around $130 a year to renew your extension and the cost of living is much cheaper AFAIK.

    Good luck to the op.

Yes the baht is the main problem, putting added pressure on folk .Which country does give the best return for, say, the AUD?

Bogan Shire is a local government area in the Orana region of New South Wales, Australia.
