Cyclists when they are in the UK are just as stupid, they just continue as at home, they are just let off being dumb when on home territory!

I've been coming to and fro to Thailand for over thirty years including living here for about fifteen of them.
Ever since I first set foot in Thailand it was obvious that Human Rights were up there with Health and Safety in Thai priorities!

Now I've retired and moved over here full time I've bought a condo but previously I rented. I usually paid a month in advance and a month's deposit and got a receipt for both so the landlady should have had two months rent not one.

I've retired here, there is nothing in the UK for me any more so I came to Pattaya where my life is better and a hell of a lot cheaper than staying in the UK.

I'm 70, on a retirement visa here, I have hypertension and type 2 diabetes. I have money in the bank enough to cover any medical bills. I am not paying hundreds of thousands of Baht every year to some insurance company for nothing. This becomes law I leave.
Most of the cases you hear about are younger people here doing daft things which is not covered by insurance anyway!

I am 70 in March and what Insurance Company is going to insure me without taking every Baht I possess, if this comes in time to move on!

Renewed my retirement visa last week at Pattaya Immigration in Jomtien, had to have my pic taken (took half an hour) letter from bank and all done easy-peasy.

I was living on the South coast of England when I came back here to see if could retire here some three years ago. Many people I know asked me to send them a postcard so on my first full day here I sent a bundle of postcards from the Pattaya post office. No one believed I'd sent them until a month after I'd arrived home (I had been in Pattaya for a month) they all turned up on the same day, eight weeks after posting at a main post office. I have lived here on and off for over 30 years and the postal service can no longer surprise me!

Perhaps I'm being a bit dense here, I'm a British pensioner getting a small government old age pension, it's always paid every four weeks into the bank so my bank book shows regular four weekly payments isn't that good enough?
P.S. Have not had much faith in the British Embassy for years.

I think an important section of this report has been missed, "the contractor has not handed over the system to the city" (or words to that effect.) Let me guess, they haven't paid him?

Just to make a point about insurance, I agree that the young should have it but I'm retired over here and will be 70 in a few months. The premiums that are required, if they allow me to be insured, are more than most hospital bills and are charged annually whether or not I have had any treatment, there is no no claims bonus so no I just pay as I go.

I'm in the Arunothai area of central Pattaya, the bars here are all open air with tele sports and a large Chang or Archa ranges 65 to 75 Baht. I'm from London try getting a Pint of bottled premium lager there for that!

A little more than when in UK but as now 70 approaches at great speed with not so many teeth!

1. All targets met before due date.
2. All citizens and tourists happy.
3. All pigs fed and ready to fly!

I'm here on a retirement visa, I'm 69 rapidly approaching 70 with diabetes 2 and hypertension, the health insurance quotes I am being fed (if they quote at all) means they would like me to buy them a condo every year!
They don't cover accidents either.
If they make it mandatory for all visitors many (me included) will be heading elsewhere.

Passports only last ten years, was he without a Passport too?

Because of the very low season following a rather disappointing Christmas many beer bars have raised the bar fine to 1,000 Baht. Typical Thai economics, low trade , put up price!

My life style here is much the same (although much cheaper) as in England but as when I lived here until the mid 90's my weight slowly drops off, good job clothes are also cheap over here as the ones I brought with me are now too large!

I miscalculated a stay in Pattaya some 18 months ago and a one day overstay. I got to the airport at 2ish in the morning, checked in asked where immigration was and was directed to an extremely lovely young lady who was 100% of the immigration at the time. I handed her my passport and had a five hundred note in my hand where upon she said don't bother and gave me a weeks extension!

More likely a tourist, not many who live here behave, dress, get drunk like that!
