WHAT do you mean by that? that if i will not do drugs than no police will torture me? that is a common misperception. dirty police force can get anyone anywhtime. as one politician, chuvit, explained, dirty policeman do not get these times their prostitution and gambling tee monies, do they move to extortion. and one easy target might be the unsuspecting farang. of course, if you are here on retirement visa with only 1 million in the bank, they will not budder. but once you start doing legal business, and more legal assets, you might become a victim too. drugs has nothing to do with it.

i am surprised to discover that thai system allows ,legally, law enforcers to keep 25% of ill gotten assets they manage to confiscate. seems like that is the root of the problem. it is like legalising corruption and encouraging police brutality. 30% of the proceeds are allocated to people who provide clues to the authorities while 25% goes to arresting officers, including police and customs agents. very very dangerous country. i am not a criminal but feel more and more uncomfortable in this country. more dangerous and curropt than africa and south america . -

well corruption is one thing, and torturing people to death - on a regular basis by ferrari and lamburgini cops - is a whole different thing. -
not the killing of "people in custody" is a no no, but the TORTURING of suspects is the big NO NO. NO NO NO it is not ok to torture people in custody, even if only because it eliminate the whole JUSTICE from the justice system. the defence line of the JOE FERRARI torturing policeman is that he did not mean to kill him nor to extort him, but just to extort information from him. "i was just doing myjob", said the joe ferrari. you see, he is so used to torture, and the police is so accepting of torturing, and the thai public is so accepting this horror police policy, that you really need to start by eplaining that NO NO NO YOU DO NOT TORTURE SUSPECTS !!

Are you experiencing “Expat Pandemic Fatigue”?
SCOTT FITZGERSLD replied to ASEAN NOW News's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I felt the fatigue in the middle of this endless article. -
Truth is that this is a very hard and scary case, harder than the story of the kidnapping and torture of the taiwanesse businessman by a group of corrupted policeman. this case is worse becuase we can see how a whole police station is dirty to the core, how they are experienced in covering such cases and how even the health system is collaborating. those cases should use as warning lights to all expats. makes me think about leaving this country for good while i am still alive.

is it so complicated to change jobs for a foreigner in thailand? can't the same WP be used for many kinds of jobs? i thought the law was changed and no need to report about a change in job, as long as it is not a job that is reserved for thai only. and how about SPONSORED WORK PERMIT? is it legal than? some digital nomads are using this solution.

NEAR SUKHUMVIT

yes, i did it in a famous rutnin eye hospital near silom road, and i do not reccomand it . if i would do it now, i would go to Samitivej Thonburi Hospital. price is same but Samitivej is much less busy and has way better facilities. the reason i did not do it there is that they had a gay doctor at that time and i'd rather lose my eye than let a gay man thouch it. but the doctors there change all the time and when i came there again it was a nice young lady, which did look like a real woman.

This is making me think it is time to leave
SCOTT FITZGERSLD replied to Will B Good's topic in General Topics
well, mate, you leave in a country where most of the population are making 300-400 USD a month, if they are lucky to get a job. try to leave on this amount for few months and you will see how your mind starts drifting to dark places.
