Four others, including the driver, whose identity was not known at the time of this report, suffered serious injuries and were rushed to nearby
If the driver survives, he will be back to get more people killed in next trip.

what is wrong and concerning is why did he dump her like a piece of garbage
Obviously he did not want to report the death:
1- Her pension will be stopped after death report.
2- Police will become concern about his identity and his status.

Why would they advise her to leave if she did nothing wrong?
Even though she was driving on the wrong side of the road.
Where ever it happened, wrong side of the road or right side of the road we don’t know why it has happened and what caused it to happen. What you see in the news is exactly what they want you to know, nothing more.

I am under the impression that Ms. Sacoolas acknowledged that she was responsible for the death of Mr. Dunn, in two separate interviews with the police.
If she decided subsequently that she was "innocent" then one assumes she would have stayed - as she said she would - and cooperated with the investigation. Her diplomatic immunity would have protected her. Doing a runner makes her look, well, "guilty".
They leave because the “foreign ministry” advise her to leave the country as quick as possible since she is on political passport, not a tourist. And not because she was at fault. Perhaps time to learn something new for you.

Here in Chiang Mai, we do not have anything like the theatre of the round.
No theater, but you can enjoy the clowns of Chinese circus all over CM.

Are you trying to convince yourself that CM is the final destination for you by this post ? It’s fine with me, but please don’t try to show it real beautiful, because it is not. In fact it’s very ugly.
Don't get me wrong. I have lived in CM for a year lately and regardless of burning season the air pollution is high all year long not only by rice field burners, but also by trash burners and too many diesel cars (songthaews). I was really tired of washing my balcony everyday and seeing black water running down the drain. I felt it in my longs as well. Perhaps it was only my problem since I lived near by Maya, but I’m happy now since I don’t see too many Chinese everyday, everywhere.
Wish you beautiful lovely unforgettable moments in CM.

Jazz at 12 years / 255,000 km, still going strong..... I will buy another Jazz when this one finally pops its clogs..
Your 12 years old Jazz equipped with a real transmission (gearbox), not a CVT. Perhaps you will be disappointed with newer models. Car companies instead of raising prices have come up with a great cost cut that name is CVT. They make even more money than before without raising prices.

Shopping online, usually the price is too good to be true.
Always buy “COD” and receive goods as quick as possible since the seller is waiting for “cash”.

Brought a coffee grinder over here, 110 volt. Use a 80 watt step down for that, no problem.
15 yrs or so ago I brought a Sharp home theater set over here. Got a 500 watt step down at Amorn. Has worked just fine since then.
I'm thinking about bringing back a soldering iron on next trip. The ones for sale here are absolute <deleted>.
Buy a Hakko 981 from Lazada. It is about B800. They are good. I bought mine from Akihabara, Tokyo. I have to use a step down transformer, the one on Lazada is 220V 20-130W

What is the benefit of having SSA send your payment directly to Thailand as outlined above vs having it sent to your bank in the US and then having it transferred by your bank in the US to your bank in Thailand? Is it an exchange rate thing?
I guess if your address is an US address, you can not direct deposit to your Thailand account. Then you need to do it the way you mentioned and if you don’t need to transfer every month (using 800,000) then you can transfer whenever you need money and keep the fund in US banks.

I need to be in LA about 40 days before my extension expiration date.
Can I renew my extension 45 days before expiration date (Phetchaburi province) ?
I have already done that in CM and BKK (45 days before), but this is my 1st extension in Phetchaburi province.

I'm also not comfortable leaving $50,000 in a country where I might not be allowed to return to collect it.
I thought retirement extension requires 800,000 = $27000
unless has gone up in last few days and I’m not aware of that.
Retirement extension is the best option (out/in without any problem) for someone at your age if the fund is available. there is no 100% guaranty for entering the country by other visas.

Yes, my builder did mention this, if it's an old leak it will be obvious. I am going to bring another builder plumber, just so I get the full picture.
Old leak or new leak by your contractor, it does not matter. If there is a leak from your unit, you are the one who is responsible for it. It does not matter when happened or who caused it, IF It is from your plumbing.

“ I will make sure my wife does the hotel registration so I don't have to worry about a report.”
That is what I always do, no headache, no questions.
Even though I live in a hotel property and it is easy to report my return by their system, but I prefer not getting any room on my name and then no report needed on return.

“I wonder if the truck had working tail lights.”
They usually have dozens of head lights in front and decorated, but who cares about the rear or they just switch the horse. Not all trips with same flatbed or attachment.

There is no slow driver in Thailand.
Night slow drivers are night blind. Daytime slow drivers often busy with something else and as soon as they are done with push the accelerator and become a one more moron and join the death race and trying hard to keep Thailand #1 in death roads.

“Police shake-down. Advice?”
Yes
Just don’t do it. Don’t drink and ride/drive.
