  1. How intolerable that a pipsqueak country like Cambodia should contemplate the military might of Thailand.Do they not understand what would be in store for them? They should bear in mind what happened last time when an inferior former vassal state i.e Laos took on the finest of Thailand's military......Oh well, perhaps that's not a very good example.

Exactly. There will not be a war with Thailand. A military confrontation yes maybe. But thats normal in this region. Cambodians wouldnt stand a chance.

    A WAR is something different!

I am about to boycott this forum right now when I see where it comes form.

Show a little understanding aobut how things work. If others broadcast certain things,

DONT JUST STEP OUT AND DO THE EXACT SAME THING FOR JUST THAT REASON!

  2. I understand your sentiments but in fairness to George, I don't think he's exaggerating or overblowing the situation.

Check these 2 links. The word WAR is used in both articles. Both papers available on-line. BBC has not yet reported story but no doubt will.

    This is news and fact.

This is just media hungry stupidness. This Thread is posted under BREAKING NEWS in thaivisa and its all wrong for this country now. Anyone that has anything to do with this country should more or less do things to make it better than it is right now. its not fun living here if it worsens I have a background in communications so I know how its working. This is just another blow directly into the moneyflow for Thailand.

If ANYONE thinks a thread like this helps Thailand right now, please SPEAK OUT!

No only people that doesnt care a dime what happens here it would post crap like this.

Now its time to keep it together, be smart, be patient. Get this machinery up and running again.

  3. Of course! We all know how the media works. HEADLINES HEADLINE HEADLINES.

The point is that this is a TEXT based forum. THE TEXT DOESNT DISAPPEAR!

You can search for it for a long time. Thaivisa is also high rated in Google which means it many times comes up on the first page about things regarding Thailand.

I just call this making it all worse. This counrty really has a problem with how its viewed from people outside of Thailand these days.

    THINK!

  4. I know what you are saying,i ran an xr650r here for 3 years, prior to that i had an xr400,even though the 650 was the newer bike it was heavy and when hot a pig to start, wouldnt matter a toss on the road but in knarly trails in cambodia was hard work, super motard is a different ball game, the drz seems to be the choice in thailand as thats all there is in japan for the thais to import, id rather have a wr450 or crf450x than the drz,but rare here,.we had a rough 8 day ride in the wet in cambodia and i ran my xr400 out of oil,..it just stopped like it was out of fuel ( which i thought it was )after checking spark and fuel and finding out there was both we dipped the oil, NONE ,. after putting in a litre and kicking it through it started first kick with no rattles or smoke, only honda could build an engine that way, most would have blew to peices "!

I got a xr650r and I dont undestand what the fuzz about the weight is. Its 10 kg heavier than the xr400 which is nothing.

Versus that it is a 10 times bike compared to the 400. I got an Edelbrock pumper carb on it and it starts as easy as a moped.

  5. OP, for many Thai legal documents there are no English versions, and if there is one, often the English version is pretty murky. My ability to read Thai is limited, reading the newspaper in Thai would take me a lifetime, but surprisingly Thai legal documents are relatively easy to read. If there is an English version, it is often not so useful. The person translating is often at the loss how to translate certain Thai expressions. Even if English is your native language, it would leave you guessing.

Actually that is not correct. The revenue department, which is what this is about has most forms in English and is not translated by someone who is at the loss of how to translate. Their whole website is in perfect English.

The forms are for translation purpose only which is exactly what i am after. Its really not that big deal but if its one out there I would like to have it.

    You find them all here:

    http://www.rd.go.th/publish/29041.0.html

The revenue department is quite familier with foreigners, foreign language etc. as it was the Germans who helped the Thais build their tax system a long time ago.

Why move this thread? Most people in the business section on Thaivisa dont know what the PND 94 is as it is to used to file tax for a thai person. Asking for this on Thaivisa and it will be a foreigner married to a thai in which the thai person are using this tax form to prove the income.

On the Thaivisa forum it will be related to the visa issues. Not Business!

Great if you just move it back up where it first was.

  6. THAI MEN ARE THE BIGGEST COWARDS WHEN IT COMES TO FIGHTING

Its tools, broken bottles, metal poles etc. <deleted>!!!

What kind of a looser male population is this??? Is it really not more strength in a thai soul than this! Put up your f...... fists and take a real fight cowards!

Its no wonder you thai men dont earn more respect around the world than you do. For those of you thai men that really doesnt know. Yes .. we look down on you lazy, drunkin cowards!

Your style like this all over the country and it sure aint building bridges with people around the world.

To the ones of you thai men with this thinking, you should all have been beaten up slowly by real fists!

This is f..... not acceptable under any circumstance!

Hope you all get caught and rot in thai prison

  7. Why bother?

It will handle like a bucket of sh!te on a roller skate.

So thats why Brabus the Benz tuner has a 600 hp ML SUV in their program.. Because they handle like shit?

Cars like these are equiped with parts to handle big performance from top to toe.

Yes they can never handle like a performance sport sedan or a pure sportscar but the other way around a real sports car can never be used on a dirt road with some bumps.

If this was my car I would lowered it some but who knows if the guy has a grandmother living in a remote village..

Different needs.. different taste and some times the only reason is just for doing it itself! What a wonderful place to live in compared to all being =

  8. Sweet, but its not really a Fortuner anymore is it. More like a supra in a fortuner body:) I'd be more impressed if they could extract 500HP out of the diesel!

It would definately still be a fortuner.

500 HP out of the toyota 3.0 ltr diesel engine would not be a problem at all IF you would bother to go down that route.

You would for sure not be impressed though. Your huge monthly engine repair bills, your car being parked all the time at the mechanic shop, when working letting out more black smoke than the green buses in bangkok does and also not fun with the short RPM powerband which diesel engines got.

    Not the way to go!

That's actually a DOHC gasoline/petrol/benzine engine. :D It's probably the most popular engine for conversions in Thailand... sort of like an Asian version of a small block Chevy.

....a gasoline, petrol, benzine engine... hmmm.. never heard of that expression before over a car engine. But sawat di krap for the expression though. :D

The most swoped engine in Thailand these days would be the 1JZ and not the 2JZ which is out of price range for many thais.

If a version of a US engine, the 2JZ would be the Japanese version of THE most strong US engine ever built. The 2JZ is the most over-engineered 6 cyl engine ever to leave a car manufacturer in a standard car. Its a pure race breed engine and comes with absolutely no bullshit. This is a true petrol heads engine choice.

You want to hear how the 2 JZ sounds like in a +800 HP trim and accelerating on one of Bangkok highways. From 1st and up to 5th gear in 8.5 sec :D

This is a One In The World project where The Otto shop in Bangkok has put a 2JZ into the R32 Skyline and with the 4wd all working.

    Check it out

  10. Modified Vigo from Torque-up. The total cost of the engine setup is 75000 B. Includes an engine management Power Box, Garrett M-24 turbo, intercooler, aluminum tubes, fittings etc and the setup itself.

The original intercooler will be removed from the top of the engine and replaced with a better cooling front mounted one.

You should also add a turbo boost gauge and a oiltemp gauge.

What you get with this kit is a powerful diesel engine giving 245 bhp and 540 NM of torque. Thats big torque and the torque will be in the range of a 500 bhp 4-cylinder and a 450 bhp 6-cylinder gasoline turbo engine.

A lot of value for money. No doubt you just bought yourself a new car with this kit.

The same is possible to do with 2.5 litre engines.

For the Mitsubishi Triton 2.5 there is a similar kit from another manufacturer which gives you 240 bhp and 460 NM. Pretty much the same setup except they are using the Mega Fire engine management box (unlock the power) and a Mitsubishi TD-04 turbo.

  11. > This makes it possible to fit the navara with big wide 20" or 22" wheels and lower it

    > to the wheels almost meet the fenders.

    Lower it?! :o

Yes, making the car lower to get better road grip, or have you maybe never seen that before.

  12. Some correction to my opening post as the one reading thai didnt quite get it right.

We talked to the company today and this is the case about the fortuner.

They are actually using the Vigo 4x4 gearbox on this mod with the 1 JZ VVTI so you will still have the 4x4 as before. The optin though is wether you want the 4x4 auto or the manual box from the Vigo.

The total cost with engine, gear and everything is 110.000 B if you go for the auto and 160.000 B if with the manual. They are sourcing a second hand Vigo box and why the price is 50.000 more as a manual is because its hard to get hold of and more expesnive as second hand.

The manual Vigo box will be good for 400-500 Bhp they said .

If using a gearbox from a JZ and you will get a 2 wd fortuner but with a much stronger gearbox able to hold up more power.

So if you go for the JZ box it will save you some 30000 B on the 110.000 B price as they dont need to source the Vigo box and the JZ gearbox most often comes together when buying a JZ engine.

And for the vigo owners you only need the engine itself.

  13. As a person who uses a car to get from A to B, perhaps someone could enlighten me as to the point if it's not willy extension?

So all motorcycles should be 100cc and all cars 1000cc, as they would be perfectly adequate for A to B travel ?

Some people spend 10,000 Pounds on a watch, some people spend 2,000 Pounds on a bottle of wine, some people spend millions on a painting, and some people go to Thailand and spend all their money on a house they cannot own........................... :D

I have a Fortuner and as I also have a miniscule dix, and I want 1000 BHP under the bonnet...

To have the fastest SUV in the traffic jam would be a life changing experience...................... :o

..and some just want the kick of a horse in the back when pedal to the metal! :D

The ones of you old grumpy guys which didnt figure it out by now probably never will. Just leave it. Its not a question to ask nor to answer.

Engine power is hardcore and not for pussies. If you have unanswered questions in your head, take a trip to Rangsit klong 5 and check out the racers there every weekend. Maybe it will sink in but I doubt it will. More likely your tiny little wheenies will leave you with a wet ring on your pants :D

  14. Here is a nice and clean modified Fortuner with a 1-JZ VVTI single turbo engine. This is the latest 1-JZ in production and is as bulletproof as previous JZ engines. Its seen here as a stock engine with its 280 bhp from Toyota. This engine will on stock internals keep up with 750-800 bhp.

This Fortuner has been given a Vigo 2wd gearbox so its now only a rearwheel drive car. As the owner says; Its a Bangkok car and I never need the use of a 4wd.

From what I think, who really does. Its true some Fortuner owners might use the 4wd on a few occations, but who really needs the 4 wd on this car here. Not too many out there who wants to bash this fine car offroad I belive.

Some small modifications to the clutch and the connecting rod is needed when using the Vigo box.

This vigo gearbox will for sure not hold up as much power as the JZ boxes so if modifying this engines more I would go for either the 5 speed manual from a 1 JZ, the 6 speed Getrag monster box from the 2 JZ or the JZ A340E auto gearbox with cool mods as F1 paddle shifters.

If using JZ boxes no clutch or rod mods are needed. Then you need some mods on your driveshaft. Mods like that are just easy and painless work.

In my opinion. Just lower this car a few more centimetres and go for a bigger turbo setup These engines are so easy to get 500 bhp from and are more than reliable. As an example if you dont have any good friends in the business, a 800 bhp setup will set you back some 300.000 B on a 2 JZ engine in Bk.

And for you guys who think a 5-600 bhp setup would be too much. Its all possible and is all about the brakes, springs, shock absorbers, bushings, rims and tires in a proper setup to make it work good.

Height adjustable TEIN coilovers and Brembo brake kit is already availbale to the fortuner so with some nice Japanese VOLK rims on Yokohamas, and off you go!

    just keeping your minds busy...

  15. Today I just had my first real close up on the new navara. It looks really great and also come in a good big size I think.

What I really liked though was that the widebody version comes with the body all widened in one piece of a metal fender. Not the crappy piece of plastic like all other 4x4 pickup models got on the outside of all 4 fenders.

When making the fenders this way the body of the car IS really wider and you dont get the 4-5 cm edge on the under side of the plastic widener and to where it meets the real metal fender.

This makes it possible to fit the navara with big wide 20" or 22" wheels and lower it to the wheels almost meet the fenders. This will look so nice on this model and will also be safe as you do not need to worry about your big wheels banging up into the fenders if carrying heavy loads or on a very bumpy road.

In my opininon, excellent body work and just what i have been missing on the pickup scene.

The cab back doors are also great and should really be on all manufacturers cab models. I think nissan will gain sales with this model.

  16. I have moved some bikes between phuket and bangkok both ways. My suggestion is that you send the bikes you buy each day with a cargo company.

Wherever you buy them either drive them to the cargo yourself, have the owner to drive it there for you or pay someone you can trust from the company or auction house to drive it there.

I ve been using a reliable company in Sukh. 71. They have pickups and smaller truck running everyday between bangkok and phuket. The cargo arrives in the morning at phuket city where you can pick it up if you need it fast, or it will be sent to wherever you want the same day in the afternoon.

But.. Always make sure you wrap the bike in with some bubble plastic or similar if you want to be sure the bike looks the same when you get it. Cover three layers on the most exposed places and you should be fine.

If you send one by one or tell them to stuff one bike on that truck and another on another truck. Your bike will most likely be put beween boxes and stand very safe without any metal scratching it up.

I have never had a problem with this company.

Its located in a connecting soi between ekamai 63 and 71. If you are coming from the phetchaburi side and entering ekamai 63 (then the first soi on your left side will be ekamai soi 30) you turn left at the first 7/11 which is located on a left corner. Not at soi 30! I think it will be somewhere between soi soi 18-24. A couple of hundred metres down that soi you will take the first road to your right, then turn left when there is no more straight. You are now on your way to 71 and about 100 metres on the left side before entering 71 the company is. You can see there is a long ramp inside there and probably some pickups.

Last year I shipped a full big truck to bangkok with the big transportation company on the by pass road in phuket.

At my house I noticed one of the the three cargo guys examening my fishing equipment closely and then brought it in to the trucks cabin as it should not break in the cargo or something. I told my gf and said, did you see that? She said yes and I said, dont say anything and lets see what happens with it.

My big bikes I had to drive to the bypass road myself as we could not get them up on the big truck at my house.

The company would take care of getting them up on the truck and stuff them safely.

When loading off in bangkok one big bike looked like total shit! cracked windshiled and broken fairing many places. Actually the part where you mount the mirror and the top of the fairing where so twisted is was bent all the way down to the tank.

And my fishing equipment, I never got it back. When everything was loaded off I said. What about the fishing equipment your helper examined. Answer; I dont know, never seen it.

This company pack like shit and will not bother nice furniture standing next to some metal for a 850 km bumpy ride.

  17. High end cars are expensive because the import tax is high. On a car over 3000 cc and or 220hp (which most high end cars are) the tax is almost 300% on a new car. I think the Thais do this because they want cars assembled in Thailand on the roads and no high end cars are assembled in Thailand. Bringing a high end car illegally can be very dangerous. If caught, they take your car plus you have to pay a heavy fine. If you want to see some of the cars that have been confiscated go to the customs auction website, you might be able to get a bargin at the next auction.

    http://www.katha.co.th/category.php?id=ALL

A Ferrari 288 GTO on auction on this site at 4650000 is A BARGAIN :D

I think they don't know what they have in hand. They could think this is a 308 GTB but it is a very rare car only produced from 1984 and 1986

    http://www.automobile-sportive.com/guide/ferrari/288gto.php

Perhaps the guy who imported it tried to cheat customs and make false papers of a 308 :o

I just look in my archives and I found one for sales (in mint condition) at 495 000 deutche marks in 2000 in germany

And price went up since then

If somebody in TV has enough cash here :D he could buy it even at 10 mios bahts, make it repair (look the photos :D ) and send it back to Europ or US or better to Japan to win the jackpot

But you must be sure the actual motor is not a Toyota's Supra one :D

If you can get plates on these cars and the price is not even close to what you will have to cash up.

A jz-80 supra for 355.000.. yeah right. You could not get a non turbo supra here for under 1.5 million.

Impreza STI 2002 at half price.. :bah: Sure I would go and buy them all tomorrow

  18. According to yesterday's Bangkok Post as of the end of May cars will not have to display an insurance sticker on the windscreen. However, you'll still have to show insurance coverage when you pay your road tax.

Thats correct. 3 Days ago I went to Mo Chit to renew my sticker but i didnt get one. Just keep the receipt in your car i was told.

The red sticker, 2550/2551 you must still keep on your window.

  19. I recall hearing something about insurance companies dont want to pay out if a foreigner living in thailand on a Non Immigrant visa gets into an accident,

and if the accident is the foreigners fault.

What they say is, if living here you should also have a valid Thai driving license.

Is this something an insurance might try out as a first move or is it a law giving them rights on this matter.

International driving permit, will that solve it?

Anyone that might know more about this?

  20. If interested in a modified beetle you could do a EJ-20 (Subaru Impreza) boxer engine swop. There are some beetles in Bangkok with this mod allready and the cars are hysterical fast.

The second hand EJ-20 engines for sale in Bangkok is most the WRX 280 bhp which you easy can beef up to 400.

The engine is light and will make your beetle fly!
