  1. Trump the liar, warmonger, buffoon, fraudster and attention seeker will soon be gone from politics and THEN we get a true statesman and peacemaker in what's left of the White House. Adam Schiff or Jasmine Crockett would make an ideal team.
  2. 50 baht crikey mate, that's a rip-off. 30 baht in the wife's village 50 baht only buys crap at a BigC foodcourt I like quality, clean and tasty food which Kwan's Kitchen has been serving for over 8 years. I agree with others re Food Delivery, it's ruined many a good restaurant and there's often no knowing what quality and hygiene are like. Hopefully it will go the way of Airbnb and decline in popularity. Though knowing how lazy some ppl can be it will probably continue in Thailand at least.
  3. There are simply too many restaurants. Attrition is inevitable if poorly located, badly managed and overpriced. Chiang Mai has one restaurant which always provides top service, quality western and thai dishes at realistic prices. Kwan's Kitchen also has adequate parking, air-conditioning and service with a smile. A large bowl of delicious Rardna gai with fresh vegetables will set you back 97 baht. Some former favourites closed during covid and never reopened. Ozark and Amataros are 2 great eateries where we enjoy farang food, slightly off the beaten track, but well worth the patronage.
  4. Not only low season but also China is almost in recession with a fast collapsing economy. Nationals not only find it difficult to afford travel but have to jump through hoops to be allowed out. Vietnam gained a few tour groups as it's far cheaper to visit but even that market will decline.

MegaHome on the Superhighway just north of the Hafele showroom.
  6. It's quite expensive, by Thai standards, as an overnighter. Prices are in keeping with 4* Sukhumvit properties though it does look very nice. When I am transiting, a comfortable bed, clean room and modern amenities are all I need. My aforementioned preference fulfills those requirements, and more, for half the price.
  7. On the contrary, Sunflower oil is a healthy choice and imported Belgian-grown potato chips (as above) come out crunchy on outside and floury on the inside ... airfryer chips don't come close. As my only deep-fried menu item I can't justify an airfryer as we use our oven, multi-cooker or BBQ for other cooking. Having solar means the electric oven costs nothing to run.
  8. Sunflower oil deep fried Farmhouse Country fries, from Makro, are as good as THE best UK chippies you've ever had. An air fryer can't come close Mind you, they have their uses
  9. Nana bakery for all varieties or Chouqette for baguette 🥖 Best to phone thru an order, day before if possible, to your local Nana outlet as they do sell out fast.
  10. Photos required for a truly clinical assessment, please

  12. Power and communication outages have already caused massive problems, eg in Australia, but at least some folk still had cash to fall back on. A dual system suits me although cash is more manageable and far quicker to transact in most stores.
  13. I wrote Makro, spell check on phone changed it ... twice!
  14. Marko.
  15. ARO and Mainland are both made in NZ. 2 different companies, and the latter is tastier. We always freeze self-proportioned cheddar as even vacuum packed blocks can deteriorate, usually evidenced by white mold spores on outside.
  16. Not at all, it's all about one's home tax residency address, not my Thai address.
  17. YES I was at KBank @ Central when they opened as the wife had am 11am appointment in the centre. Walked and asked if I could uplift a copy of the docs. Service desk girl had very little English and after I showed her the email and forms listed she got the idea and asked for my PP. Being non-US she immediately located the FATCARS form, asked for my KBiz a/c # and entered all required details on the system. I only gave city/country for address, no street addy. 5 minutes later I was given a copy of the completed document for my records. Easy as!

Don't ever be tempted to buy Makro's "horeca" cheese, even for cooking, it's rubbish. Vintage aged cheddar is the most tasty, also crumbly, as water is released during the aging process. Tasty is softer, younger. Jartisan cheeses are not sold in Makro. Central Group outlets, eg Tops, GoWholesale, stock their varieties.

It is quality New Zealand cheese from a Mainland competitor. On special at Marko now at 199 baht for the 470g block. Good value.
  20. OZARK by Food4Thought is situated amidst bushland in the foothills below Doi Kham - access by continuing beyond the turn-off to Wat Doi Kham. Unlike the other Food4Thought venues, OZARK is predominantly Cajun/Creole cuisine with almost everything grown or baked on the premises. Good food. Thai food is also available on site.
  21. Trump's vocation: <deleted> garbage truck driver! 🤣
  22. Love it, though price is a limiting factor. Best when ripe, almost custard like consistency and with plain icecream ... yummo.
  23. Correct. Viber isn't far behind. Most others are compromised or unreliable.
