My observations are that the tax system here heavily favors the poor in several areas, for example:
1) the average monthly wage is around Baht 15,000 per month which is Baht 180k per year. The combination of the 60k per allowance and the 150k zero tax band means anyone on the average national salary, avoids ALL personal income tax. By comparison, the mean average wage in the UK is 33k Pounds per year, that's nearly three times the personal allowance hence around 20k Pounds is taxed at 20%.
2) The self employed are allowed to take a standard deduction of 60% of the value of their sales as the value of their costs (until recently it was 70%). No receipts are necessary, just take the deduction. If they turnover 1 million baht in sales each year, 600k is excluded as costs which means initial assessable income is 400k. Deduct from that 400k the usual allowances such as 60k each for husband and wife and child for personal care allowances, mortgage interest costs, social security costs, health/life insurance costs, etc etc and then apply the 150K zero rated tax band, the effect is the self employed earning 1 million per year, pay virtually no tax, despite having sales of 1 million per year and an income that is almost 6 times the national average,
Exactly these obstacles, all system with it's rates are aimed for not prosperity but to keeping poor in these miserable profit amounts and kill any desire to earn more. All this system is rigged in favour or already rich people who pays mostly small capital gains tax. Rates should be fixed for everyone with some big zero tax allowance. But I would go even further and dismantle all personal income tax altogether and focus on different taxes, because it's too much hassle for everyone, a lot of people are waisting their time on all it, including all the consulting business, instead of doing some real productive job.

And, of course, Anatole France, almost exactly 100 years later: The law, in its majestic equality, requires both the rich and the poor to pay a very fair tax, and forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread.
Biggest inequality in existing taxation system is obstacles preventing poor to become rich, all progressive tax system is scam made by rich to keep poor poor.

Hello, I have a question about this new system. When I arrived at the airport at the end of July 2023, I used the Section38 application to file my report directly. The issue now is that Section38 is no longer functional, and I can't access my previous report. The problem is, they are asking for a printed proof that I filed it in order to let me complete my new 90-day report. I created a new account with their new system, but the problem is I can't backdate it by more than 24 hours. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this without having to pay the 2000 THB fine?
I did a screenshot luckily. For you I would suggest to contact support, at least for new system they was responsive.

Also interested is there some modern condo in central locations with proper gym. I know a few condos in Manila, Philippines that have and wondering why it's such a big problem in Bangkok, squat rack and some dumbbells is not rocket science.

Section 38 not working for me today. After submitting login details nothing happens further. So is there some new Android app and does old login details are still valid? Maybe someone figured it out.
Update. : clarified myself, it's discontinued, new system doesn't have any apps for now.

Few years ago I remember reading about Bangkok- Pattaya train project plan, anyone know what happened to this? For now will stick to taxis, for rare trips, but train could be interesting because of speed, if they do it right of course.

I was just trying to book the bus from Pattaya to Bangkok and there were some surprises. The bus is only available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There are other days for the van. The only departure time I could find was 8pm. And the regular price is 498 currently reduced to 249. I couldn't find the 190 baht mentioned in the article.
There is a bus Bangkok to Pattaya at 8am (and 4pm). So I guess this service is for people that want to come to Pattaya and get back to Bangkok in the evening.
What is the link for booking?

Is your condo in a civilised country?
))) who knows, 2022 things are changing, so up to date information would not hurt
-
Thing is that in civilised countries there is maximum amount that landlord can charge irrespective what is in contract. Same thing as with loans. There is consumer protection laws about it. So I wanted to check is there such law in Thailand or not, so far I haven't got the answer.
-
Question is simple. Is there consumer protection or not? I know in EU and USA there is. It's 2022 after all.

for late payment of rent?
Yes

What is the maximum amount a landlord can charge a tenant for a late fee in Thailand? Is there some consumer protection in case of overcharging? It's just a normal 1 year condo rental from private person, so I think law about commercial renting from owner with 5 or more properties don't apply here. Just wanted to know what is the tenant's rights, or any amount of penalty can be written in contract.

Especially the millions who have died from the virus, they are hard to scam.
From virus or with virus and additional diseases and old age? Moreover age is above average. And average deaths are as yearly usual. If this is not a fraud then I don't know what is.... As I told, it's harder to accept the truth if you should change your views....

I received SIM from Shopee, registration QR code leads to Line account chat. There is instruction in Thai, as I can understand I will need to send photo of received SIM with barcode and give some phone number for OTP. Maybe someone knows, does only Thai number can be given there or foreign also? And what they ask next? just to be prepared
