  1. Could not do the report online when the dreaded pop-up advised to visit the local immigration office.  Went to Promenada and was happily greeted by the unofficial three ladies in the front of the office.  Presented my packet of documents and most were returned as only the TM.47 was needed.  Very good change from previous visit when immigration wanted GPS coordinates of my home address.

There was a large poster in front of the desk of the reporting immi officer's desk stating the 9+0-day online system is down.  No clue when it will be operational.

Fast service...in and out within 5 minutes.

Off topic...then proceeded to Tesco Lotus's Kamtien for shopping, but the place was close due to COVID-19 cluster for two days from Oct. 20-22.  Big C here I come., 555.

  2. The English speaking male IO in the tent who does the initial check for documents is a rare jewel for CM IMM.  He noticed, when scanning my retirement packet, that my 90-Day report was due and asked if a TM47 was in my possession.  Showed it to him and he instructed me to wait, "I will get your next report notice".

Can he be promoted to show the other IO's this is the Thai way to help everyone.?

  3. Went to immigration today to get my yearly retirement extension and got caught in the unpredictable web we all somehow experience even after being here for many years.

My documents were checked by the officer in the outside tent and was given a queue card for the information counter.  Documents were again checked by who appeared not an official immigration officer since he was wearing a golf shirt with the immigration emblem. He insisted a detailed bank statement was required since my 800K was in a savings account and a bank certified copy of my bank book was insufficient.  Tried to converse/explain with him the initial document checks by the first officer that the bank book copy was sufficient.  The "wannabe" gave me the printed requirement list for retirement extension and highlighted the sentence that a bank statement is needed.  Maintained my cool and left to get my statement.

Upon return to the information counter, another female "wannabe" who had been seated next to my first encounter, proceeded to checked my documents meticulously as if she was trying to find something wrong.  Finally was given another queue number for long stay window 7/8.

Waited about five minutes and presented the documents again for another check.  Everything was in order and had my photo taken, but while waiting for my passport to be returned, five people who had come after me were able to get their passports back immediately.  I was about inquire <deleted> was going on, but then a student volunteer appeared with my passport.  Good bye until next year.

Lesson learned:  a detailed bank statement covering the year since the last extension is required no matter what class of long stay extension.

  4. AIS/Play is free if you have an AIS sim card and mobile phone number to watch 13 channels.  Otherwise, TV channels (PSI box) #2, 3, 24, & 25 rotate broadcasting the Olympics.

If you do opt for the AIS, you can change the language from Thai to English by clicking on the "earphone" icon on the bottom right on the display screen.

  5. I was able to replace my Sharp fruit and vegetable crisper at the authorized Sharp service center in Chiang Mai.

Name place and location is Future Electronic Service at 18°47'07.3"N 99°01'06.3"E.  Google "Sharp service center Chiang Mai".

  6. Chiang Mai.  Today, did my report online from desk PC and received approval via my email address.  Printed out my next appointment slip and noticed the "NEW" irregularities.  My next notify date was suppose to be September 7, 2021, but the slip showed my next extension date of August 9th.  The slip also had in the Remark box:  "Same visa expire".

So is this a change in policy procedure in 90-day reporting to use the extension permit to stay date instead of granting the full 90 days?
