  1. Yes quite agree. Money is not the problem. Getting her to go to get the necessary documents certified is. She lives in Chumphon and rarely goes out,due to a fear of catching Covid.
  2. Trouble is,similar documents are required to obtain one as a passport. Her mum having custody on the divorce certificate seems to be the stumbling block. We are travelling in July. Plenty of time. The Thai Embassy in London have replied to my emails, but their answers are very vague. I did ask if she could enter on GB passport and her expired Thai passport and her GB passport not be stamped, but they just replied she needs a visa if more than 30 days. Trouble is, if she gets a visa, surely she will trapped in a never ending cycle of getting new visas even if we replace her Thai passport once there ?

  4. I wonder if anyone could give some advice ? My daughter and I are planning to move permanently to Thailand in July, but her Thai passport expires in April. I don't have all the paperwork involved to obtain her new passport here (She is almost 16) Her Thai mother(my ex wife) lives in Thailand and according to our Thai divorce papers, has custody of our daughter. To get the passport renewed in London, they have advised me I need, amongst other things,a letter of consent from my ex wife, signed by her and certified by the 'district in Thailand' (she lives in Chumphon) Because she officially has custody of our daughter. Knowing my ex wife as I do,if she ever got round to doing it, I would be amazed. The Thai Embassy advise if she enters on her GB passport, she will need a visa for a stay of more than 30 days,as any British citizen would. My question is :- Would there be a problem if she enters Thailand on say a 60 day tourist visa and gets her Thai passport renewed in Thailand with her mother and I ? Would there be any problems if she then wanted to leave the country on her GB passport after 60 days ? Obviously I would prefer for her to enter on a renewed Thai passport, but it may not be possible, given my ex wife's lethargy. Any help/thoughts would be appreciated
