    It's not right, of course, but it is so endemic here it would take a revolution to get rid of it. They feel entitled and it goes up the food chain to the very top.

    Doing it in chunks might alert the authorities more? I transferred more than 8m via Nat West to Bangkok Bank and they just phoned me from Bangkok to check it was me

    Not true... getting visa and extensions processed is much slower now and we will all be under scrutiny due to crooked officials.

    Because they are checking everything because of this scam. Normally it takes me 10 to 15 minutes this week over an hour and I was lucky. The visa company told me expect 3 hours or more.

    For some reason I thought we could have a named beneficiary? certainly it use to be that way? even a registered partnership but certainly marriage has that changed?

    Eventually I paid myself with a cheque for both Nationwide and NatWest leaving 50 quid in each and they will just sit there for eternity. Luckily I had some old cheques left for each.
