as failure to file your 90-day report can result in a fine of 2,000 THB, and can increase to up to 5,000 THB once you get arrested."

Where did you find this?  You claim to know and follow the laws so please provide a link to the law which states failing to make a 90-day report is an arrestable offense.

According to the law, if you do not report, you are over staying your permit to stay and can be fined and or deported.

Absolute nonsense. Failing to make a 90-day report results in a max fine of 5000 Bhat but the usual fine is 2000. THERE ARE NO OTHER CONSEQUENCES.  It is not possible to overstay a valid extension of stay or a valid O-A visa.

They are employing recruitment consultants to do this for the candidates. The next problem is the CBI are up in arms because they are using all the tier 2 visas quota for medical personnel and firms are being refused visas for engineers - there are only 20,000 a year to go round

LOL --- What a surprise!  However, the "consultants" will not be able to secure professional registration for anyone - There is a bit more involved than filling a form

In case you wonder my wife's sister is a Thai Nurse Practioner/Midwife who is attempting to secure UK registration.

Thanks -I never doubted what you said but unless the Gov is also easing the acquisition of visas and instructing the NMC to shortcut the professional registration process anyone wishing to work in the UK still has to navigate an obstacle course.

I sometimes call it Reg 90 which was an old travel allowance I used to get.

Most of us who use this forum know exactly what is meant and don't find it necessary to nitpick.

No "nit pick"  PERMIT was written and that is what I read - Hence my comment.

They are having a campaign to recruit nurses from the caribbean now - a new Windrush generation ?

Nothing would surprise me but I had not heard that one. Those from outside the EU have a tough time obtaining a work visa and professional registration is more demanding -- Added to which (can't recall the detail) they have to show a £30K+ salary to remain beyond a certain time.

Absolutely, EU workers that are working for the NHS have been guaranteed the right to stay in the UK and work post Brexit, if they are leaving the NHS, it is a career choice and nothing to do with the UK leaving or remaining as a member of the EU. The statistics show them leaving the NHS, but they do not show that they are leaving the UK

Please provide an authoritative link to any Government statement which guaranteed any EU NHS worker the RIGHT to remain in the UK post brexit.....

I think you've been taken in by typical Guardian anti-Brexit propaganda. The number of nurses leaving the NMC register (which tracks those ELIGIBLE to work in those areas) has been increasing over the past few years, and has worsened as the NHS crisis has worsened. Why would nurses from the EU stay here with the NHS crumbling around them?

Here's an extract from the NMC's own website for you - more reliable than the Guardian I would say:

"Recently public attention has focused on the reducing number of EU nurses and midwives joining our register. But today’s figures show that it is mainly UK nurses and midwives who are leaving the register, resulting in the overall downward trend.

Earlier this month we conducted a survey of more than 4,500 nurses and midwives who left the register over the previous 12 months. Excluding retirement, the top reasons given included working conditions, (including issues such as staffing levels), a change in personal circumstances (such as ill health or caring responsibilities) and a disillusionment with the quality of care provided to patients"

Thanks but that provides no stats but it is highly likely that other than EU staff are leaving perhaps in even greater numbers.

This may interest you --- from the Nursing Times--
"Drop in EU nurses continues, driving NMC register decline
25 APRIL, 2018 BY NICOLA MERRIFIELD

The number of nurses and midwives registered to practise in the UK continues to be lower than the same point a year ago, largely due to a further decline in European staff, reveal new figures from the Nursing and Midwifery Council."

    Whatever -

Life is better out of the NHS and gets even better outside "Brexit" Britain!

    Just for my info.

If you have an extension of stay with a re-entry permit ( multi ) and then enter with a new 90 day single entry visa ( O or B ) which you then convert to an extension of stay ( 1 year ) can the original re-entry permit still be used with the new extension when you get it?

NO --It is linked to the extension for which it was issued.

Absolutely it's profiling, and with increasing use of IT it's only going to get more sophisticated. Like others here I have come and gone for years on a mixture of visa waivers and TVs, and have never been questioned. The principal reason for that is my age, I suspect.

All countries use "profiling" as a means of identifying potential undesirables.

yea that's how i do it, i use the bangkok bank a a corresponding bank so i get the better exchange rate.. the issue is I'm not in the US where the money is at my US bank, they say you have to do it in person but maybe not, it's at the discretion of the manager at that particular branch.. got his email he doesn't respond and now i think he's gonna dodge my phone calls..

I am not sure I understand you. If you have internet access to your US bank a/c there should be no need for any interaction with staff at your US bank. FYI I have this morning initiated a transfer of funds which took less than a couple of minutes.
