  1. Hello,

My Thai Wife, new born daughter and myself are relocating to Thailand next year.

What are the typical financing deals available in Thailand when buying new and second-hand cars?

I can get approx a 10% return on my money. I'm considering whether to use cash or financing when buying a car.

    Thank you.

    Regards

    Arran.

  3. I need a bank account in Bangkok as my Thai friends often ask me to buy stuff (fashion, gadgets) from overseas while I'm overseas.

Which bank should I head to? I'm just on 30-days visa-free entry.

question 2, if i draw money regularly from overseas, will there be any problem?

    thanks for help

You used to be able to but I'm pretty sure a foreigner now needs a work permit to open a Thai bank account.

"I'm pretty sure" actually means nothing but "i have no freaking idea but present an (un)educated guess". two of my friends opened bank accounts a few months ago whilst on a 30 day visa waiver, another one got his account a few days ago (Siam Commercial). all it took was having a little polite small talk with the bank's branch manager and a bundle of cash :o

I said 'pretty sure' because I have recently opened x2 bank accounts, x1 at Krung Thai the other at Bangkok Bank and both said I needed a WP to open an account so I do have a 'freaking idea' and it wasn't an uneducated guess either. Yet another total prick who uses this website and is always eager to knock people who are giving genuine advice. Bullied at school were you?

Friend just opened acct at Siam comm. with 30 day VOA. This was upcountry though. Have had others open in BKK on tourist visa. Try Siam or Kasikorn. Look at other posters not just someone who has a problem opening an acct

  4. They have a Princess brand bread machine for sale at The Mall and also at the Amway place in Korat. I don't know if it's a good one or not; I think the Severin brand one from Verasu is better (and it's the one I have). I like the quick cycle that produces a loaf of bread in an hour.

    Plain White Bread

    1 ⅛ cups milk

    2 tablespoons sugar

    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1 teaspoon salt

    3 cups bread flour

    2 teaspoons yeast

    1. Add all ingredients, in order, to bread machine.

    2. Bake on quick (58 min) cycle.

My recipe calls for 1tbls of sugar and same for oil and yeast. Too much sugar and it tastes like Thai bread.

  5. Went in recently and got our 5 year license in Cha Am. At that time we were told when we renew in 5 years we will have to take the class.(all in Thai) They never mentioned the test. Asked my Thai friend and she said they told her the same thing. Of course this being Thailand in 5 years who knows what the procedure will be.

Yesterday the driver's license officer told me that when I renew my 5 year license I'll have to listen to the one hour lesson and then take the test. In fact there were some renewers at the office yesterday who were about to take the written test. This was at the Bangkok office.

So increase the rules for law abiding citizens, but what about all the unlicenced drivers in this country? Any law changes for them?? So how many other countries make you resit a test every time you renew?Sounds like another money scam to me...

Surely a money scam. Imagine all those 100bht. notes.

  6. This is the page from my book..

Bike is a 91 Bandit 4. In my GF's name.

My GF says its about tax, but while her English is conversational, technical translations like this she struggles to do them word for word.. Maybe someone with 100% Thai reading skills could help clear it up.

My 92 HD has same, same on page 18.

  7. I'd like to jump in here and also enquire about a sale from fahlang to fahlang. We are both hoping to transfer payment by Euro via our home banks.

    What is the procedure?

    Thanks.

Procedure the same. Only both need signed copies of visa and passport. Letter of conf. add. also needed.
  8. For as much as the Harley clique like to extol the fact that having one is a sign of independence and this and that, I find it rather telling they wouldn't let someone express their individuality by leaving the stock pipes on it....and it would be individualised because I've seen maybe 2 in my whole 29 years of life that haven't had stock pipes. Everyone else puts V&H or something on their bikes; I always wondered why.
V&H add a little more rumble[not excessive] and a few horses.
