Not very busy, if you go late morning or mid afternoon. I did my retirement extension Friday and was in there less than 10 minutes. 3 minute queue outside. Pick up of passport and 90 day report on Monday was less than 3 minutes.
Monday mornings and days right after Govt office closures are normally busier. Hope this helps.
There is also an online queuing system App they use now which will
let you jump the queue. I think it’s called Q-que or something like that.

I don't think that's unreasonable. Only people that should get it for free are Thai nationals and any expats currently contributing to the SS fund through their salary deductions. Just my view.

There is a place to the right of the tuk com multistory car park just off of Pattaya Tai. Can’t remember the name......”Computers 2 U” or something like that. They’ll take a look and let you know what the problem is. They replaced the HD on my lap top and it works fine now. They won’t kill you on the cost either.
P.S. The battery in mine is shot too, so I just run it through the 240 v power, as it’s for entertainment not for business so non critical. -
Sounds like some sort of check valve. Allows only flow in one direction.

Open on Friday 16th so I believe. Expect it to be crowded as it always is after a break.

The key to it in my opinion is mass rapid vaccinations of the population of Thailand. Progress appears to have been very slow in this regard to be honest.

Been meaning to download the App for a while now. Your post has urged me to do that and I’ll try it on my next 90 day report. Thx

Condolences to all the families, especially those of the brave rescue team.

The “Hand to Hand Foundation” I believe still do a lot to help people in the local prisons. Don’t know if they are still doing it in these current times, but you can contact them on [email protected].
Hope this helps

Just for info, when applying for a RC do not tick the “Change vehicle owner” box, unless you have the blue/green book on you. I did so and the officer wanted to see the blue book for the vehicle. When I said “ ok I’ll change it to driving licence application” she wouldn’t let me do that. Anyway fortunately I had the blue book in the car. Not sure what the outcome might have been if I didn’t. As I say just for info.

I think too early in the vaccine game to speculate on what future requirements might be, not only for Thailand, but worldwide.

Still a long way from where people budgeted prior to say Brexit, but every little helps. The doom and gloomers were forecasting 25-30 to Sterling, so let’s hope the current upward trend continues.

Means they only get nailed for going 30 Km/hr over the speed limit now .....555

For what it’s worth I think it’s worth having. Stops you having to use your passport to check into hotels in Thailand for one thing, and post offices will accept it instead of your passport if you’re sending registered mail. Once you’ve got your yellow book it’s a couple of hours at city hall to get it. Cost was Thb 200 from memory.

MCs are after 5 years, cars etc after 7, then every year after that. Pretty rudimentary check to be honest. I think you can tell that by the number of decrepit pickups that are on the road. Nothing like the British MOT test for sure.

Definitely doable. Only thing to be aware of is the 1 Million Thb guarantee from the Govt’ if the bank goes under. My understanding is it’s 1 Mill per bank ( used to be 5 Mill if I recall correctly).

Hi Everyone
i am about to reach uk pension age. I realise i can apply four months before my 66th birthday. My question is, before that, how difficult is it to do online from here? And what sort of dates and documents will they require? I intend having my state pension paid straight into my Thai bank account.
thanks in advance
If you look at the gov.uk website there will be a section on pensions and what you need to provide. I’m 66 next year and have sort of started pulling the info they require together. As always there is a form to fill in....

So I’ve just transferred a motorcycle into my name. All I needed was my passport and confirmation of address. Took the MC to the vehicle centre, they just checked engine and frame numbers against the book, handed over a receipt for the Thb fee of 1,700. Book was ready in a couple of days.
If your buying from a Thai, get them to help, it greases the process.

I doubt 3 months passbook is enough if they are checking the balance for the previous year
I always go back one full year, so it’s clear how much has been on deposit over time. Good point though.

Some good advise on this post. I would ask the landlord to verify the date stamped photos that you take, and give them a copy.
I would say, that having managed property rentals for expats whilst working here , I found the expat landlords to be as bad as the Thais.
Most are good and fair landlords but you always get the bad apples, and they will come up with extortionate prices to fix things and find all kinds of reasons not to agree the condition on move out.
not sure about the 2 months deposit. I thought only 1 month was allowed now, but could be wrong.
Anyway , good luck.
PS If it does go south at the end of the rental period, tell the landlord you are going to check if he / she has declared the income to the inland revenue folks. That sometimes stimulates them to be more reasonable.
is tap water safe to drink after boiling it?

Unless there’s no other choice I’d use bottled water, either in the sealed 19 litre containers or in various bottle sizes from supermarkets etc. too many variables in the filter systems ( and quality of the feed water) in my view to do anything else. Just my view, and for the amount a family uses a week it shouldn’t cost a fortune. We pay Thb 40 per 19 litre container delivered.
