if it's a good first class insurer the claim would be the truck has been damaged and repaired but not properly and go from there, no need for f'ing praying get it done.
So an Insurer is going to pay up for damage caused by someone at a time before they insured the vehicle. Sure, maybe my 47 years of insurance experience is letting me down, but I would keep on praying if I was you. You have no idea of what insurance is all about like so many who think you insure and then whatever happens will be put right for you.

And what pray would be the basis of your claim?

If you had 800k (baht) in the bank, the difference between the 2 exchange rates would have been equal to just over 416 GBP.
As you no doubt have considerably less than that, the difference would (obviously) be considerably less. Saying that you were refused an Extension "for 50 satang" is just BS.
As for who is the "wonkers" - who decided to try and squeak by using the barest minimum they could in the bank and hoping for favourable exchange rates ? Was that Thai Immigration ? No ?Who was it that apparently follows the exchange rates enough to quote the rates to 2 decimal places, but didn't top up their bank account when they saw the rates dropping ? Was that Thai Immigration too ? No ?
How about taking responsibility for your own actions (or lack thereof) instead of trying to blame others for things that you are in control of ?
I would add, that is people had put TB800k away a year or two ago having transferred from abroad they would be laughing all the way to the Bank now, up about GBP900 (using 43 and 41). Short-termism never paid off.

That's my issue. I've decided to bite the bullet and put the money in the bank, but want to know how to get it to my son when I pass.
Write a will. Get it registered in Thailand upon your death. Job done!

Please could someone advise me. I own a Condo in Bangkok and I live here on a retirement visa (extension). I never do 90 day reporting as I am always out of the country within the 90-day period. My Indonesian wife travels here to join me on a tourist visa and usually stays with me in our Condo for periods between 1 - 4 weeks at a time, perhaps 4 or 5 times a year. She has a home in Jakarta and we travel a good deal so this arrangement works for us. I have only just found out about TM30. I am not her Landlord as she doesn't pay rent of course. She is my "guest" but is my wife. Do I have to do a TM30 report every time she comes here please?
Also, let's say she is staying overnight as we are on our way to Europe the next day (this happens once a year). So she arrives at 9pm and we leave at lunchtime the next day for the airport. How on earth can I report a TM30 to Immigration miles away when it is closed and I will miss my flight if I go the next day? Taking it a step further, if she is staying with me for just one day and then moving on, do I spend that one precious day travelling and queueing just to lodge a TM30 and not actually see her?
UdonJoe or anyone else who has a similar experience or who has a suggestion, I would love to hear it. Thanks

FTT was sufficient for mine - I just photocopied the entire bank book as part of the application (in addition to other requirements). FTT I believe stands for Foreign Telegraph Transfer (i.e. wire).
It is possible (based on other postings) that 800,000 static amount in a Thai bank might raise red-flags as this is the money they are expecting you to live on. If it is stable then they start to think - you must be getting money elsewhere (i.e. working). [I don't think it is consistent with regards to this item]
My deposits for the visa consisted of about 6 FTT transactions (the last 4 would have been enough; in that bank book) and regular activity because I was using it to live on. I did do a 100 baht withdrawal the day I got the letter just to force the bank book activity to show that the balance was up to that date.
Don't agree. I have had 800k static for two years. It is not suppose to be the money you live off, it is evidence that you have sufficient money to live off. You can create income without working especially if you are a pensioner drawing down from your savings abroad. If you can show overseas statements that evidence regular withdrawals from savings using a Thai ATM I don't see why this should cause any problems at all.

I have my time deposit of TB800k so that is that and I am lucky enough to forget about it until the day comes when I leave or die. For living expenses I draw cash from the ATM debiting my Hong Kong Bank account and I have statements to show that. It also makes my tax position very simple as no money is coming into a Thai bank account although the cash I withdraw is new money coming into LOS (I am retired anyway) and the ATM withdrawals are tapping into savings earned in past years. So no tax to pay. Thailand has made people who play by their rules welcome in the main. If you chose to play games with the system then either fix it or move on. The company I use for my visa insist all the right papers are in place and I pay nothing like some of the numbers quoted here.

Interesting morning at my Agents office yesterday. I am changing my bike and need a new CoR. Easy enough, been done many times through Immigration but yesterday the news was different (I have used Immigration as it avoids delays in getting an appointment at the Embassy). He explains that it is no longer possible for Immigration to issue a CoR if you have not done a 90-day Report. "Ah", says I, "no need as I always leave the country and return so never need to report as the Agent had explained to me originally". Yes he explains, but you have to do a 90-day report otherwise you are not in the system. "Yes I am" replies me "when I come through Immigration at the airport". Apparently I do not understand. "But I do" I protest,"I understand that I am abiding by the law and so if I need a CoR I should be able to get one without any fuss". I was having a "stupid" day!
Let me cut the story short - Since BJ cut back on tea money and the like, the IOs are miffed slightly, and so wont co-operate with the likes of me by way of protest.
Anyway, there is a silver lining. Despite recent posts about the difficulty in getting appointments at the Embassy, I went on-line and booked one (for tomorrow) so only a 48 hour wait. It will probably cost less than going down the Immigration Office route anyway.
So whilst I applaud much of BJ's great work, the unintentional consequence is that we get stuffed.
