Lately it seems that things are moving but not sure to what direction.
On one hand i hear people saying you get rejected almost immediately if you are the kind of guy who stayed
too long in the country lately.
They start to reject a lot of ED visas, and some embassies have new rules of 1 a year, or "NOT AT ALL a year ".
Business owners have problems, and of course no more than 1 tourist visa a year.
People say house prices goes down, westerns sell their business and leave.
Houses for sale groups are exploding with offers from the islands, rent prices goes down a lot.
On the other hand, the king just signed 2 emergency protocols to make the life of business owners easier.
People say the officers are nervous and start to realize they where too hard, and change things.
Not sure, very curious - how the real government see things now ?
Where is it going in details ?
Thanks.

Thanks. Wow, so if Vien is once a year now, and they are usually the easiest with visas, i don't want to think of others.
I just read here that HCMC just refused an ED.
I am not retired, which leaves me one option only : business visa or leave this country and don't come back.
Lately they are literally making it impossible to stay in their country if you are not a real real tourist.
And i am the kind of guy they should want, engineer, building a startup, etc.
(Their startup visa is impossible even more than the US.)
I guess it is over with Thailand.

Did anyone tried? after 9 months ED in Thai language, we would like to get another ED right away.
I guess it will make them suspicious ?
-
ok so they are going to ask questions.. shit.
-
Did anyone get tested when extending their ED ? if so, is it a real interview or just questions over the counter ?
Are there immigration officers that known to test you ? (we need to go to Koh Samui)
or a story of someone who got rejected for not knowing Thai language ?
Thanks.
-
We registered to a Thai language school for 6 months with an option to extend the course to 9 months.
1. Did anyone got rejected when doing the first 3 months extension(inland)? do they test my Thai language ?
2. Did anyone got rejected when extending the second time (6 months to 9 months) ?
3. Have anyone managed to take 2 courses in a row without problems ? (each 9 months)
Thanks.

thanks a lot. We will try the yellow bank (krug.. something ?).
-
We have an ED visa for Thai course, intend to stay here 9-12 months or more.
I read a post here about it from 2012, and another guy said he had problems.
What banks (large preferred) will let us open an account with a passport and ED visa ?
We obviously need a credit card also.
Thanks.

You can go at 10am because every time she change numbers, she starts from 0 (0-100, 0-140, 0-200) , to let those who late come in.
Anyway once inside the line is not strike, which means as long as your appointment is today, it doesn't really matter where you are in the line, you can just approach them and show your paper.

I thought after the help i got here I will share my experience.
So it worked like this :
1. We booked 2 weeks in advance appointment
2. Arrived with 60 signed pages from school for our ED. (pretty complicated process)
3. Our line number was 174. At 8:30 there is a big line outside, opened at 9:00am (got multiple offers to buy a line#/forms/etc)
4. Go in, and sit outside, a woman will hold a paper with numbers, start with #1-100 means all first 100 can start right away
5. Finished first 100 within 30 minutes, then she show 1-200 (for the lates to still be able to get in)
6. first station she checked your line number ONLINE, and that you have a full application in hand.
7. next station a small line to give the guy in the counter your papers, he took a deep look in them, and recheck in his list your line number and name, and signed on your application your line number and his signature with a yellow mark (!)
Go pick up on Monday (applied on Friday), come back with your line number and same process exactly, same length. (pay only now)
I did see some rejections, mostly for locals who tried to speak with the officer, which was nice and sent them to bring more documents.
We got what we needed, and left this boring city right from there with a taxi (200-300THB to border)
Conclusion - you can't really buy a slot illegally , their process is efficient and fast, they still reject people.
On border - they DO ASK many questions, not me, but others. They stopped a Russian guy and asked him a lot , he was worried.
BTW
They ask your Laos visa print, and Laos entry stamp print.

New regime? So it was easy till now before this new regime? That means things can only go down ????
What is the real address btw? I see 2 addresses, one in number 15, the other in 300+ Same street (?)
-
Yea will take a taxi to border probably thanks.
Just hope we will get this visa.
in case we don't get it for some strange reason, is there a way to talk to them ? get a different kind ? or just say yes and leave ?
It's like one shot, you wait 2 weeks for appointment and you get yes/no ? if you want another shot you wait another 2 weeks in this city ?
-
Ubonjoe thanks, you are really great ????
Just hope they will give us this visa , otherwise we stuck .

When you finish a visa in Vientiane,
1. What border you go from that makes no problems ? (say we go to Bangkok or whatever is better)
2. How you go there ? by bus or train ? (say we do not care about price, which is more convenient ? )
3. Making an ED visa, what stamp should we expect on this border ?
Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot.
We apply in Vientiane.

Hi,
we are about to ask in Laos our ED.
We got a bunch of papers signed by our school and the ministry in Surthani (maybe 25-30 docs ).
I just read here an old post about a denied ED for lake of university degree.
https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/747638-ed-visa-denied/
I have one, my Asian gf don’t.
School said it doesn’t matter, just asked me
to write in the application if I have one.
They say you don’t need it.
They said never got an rejection in Laos.
Website will not show this requirement.
Do we need to worry ?
-
Thanks a lot.
The meeting is 2 days after arrival. Then there is a weekend.
So not enough time to go somewhere else before/after.
Don't hate it, never been there but read its a pretty boring place.
Just hope they will not deny this ED.

It is not directly visa related but can help others since now you have to wait long time to get an appointment, and since
Vientiane is a hole. We for example, need to wait 6-7 days there, including a weekend(appointment is in the middle).
Where would you stay that is quite enough and not too far from the embassy ?
What would you do there ? (coffees/art/nature/malls/etc)?
Thanks.

You cannot pay to get it the same day at the consular section. But you might find some tauts or agents that will claim the can get it done on the same day.
Since Monday appears to be a holiday not shown on their calendar or holiday list the may do them on Friday.
Thank you !
One last question because we are REALLY nervous about it all.
We are coming with all ED docs given by the school.
School says never got rejection from Laos (but a few from Vietnam).
What might be a reason for rejection for us ? is there anything we can do (or a document to bring) to reduce that ?
(my gf is from Vietnam)
-
So if it is a holiday there is a chance for same day? How can you know that in advance? Or only when you give your passport?
Can i ask? Saying I need to leave before Tuesday due to a flight?
Also , a fast process reduce chances for rejection or increase? ????
-
Wait , what’s the chance for same day collect? I have an appointment but I want to collect same day, can I pay for that?
because it’s Friday and on Monday it’s a holiday I think .

In the whole week you are waiting, you should be researching for a place where you and your girlfriend are welcome, and keep it as your Plan B.
There is no place like that for Asians outside of Asia ????
The plan is to get a real serious startup visa for a European country, which may take time.
If you have any advice...
Whats really going on with Thailand immigration?

Actually as someone who live here almost 2 years i certainly feel that prices goes down by a lot.
I mean house prices. Rent prices. Hotels are empty. Less tourist at my area which is a very touristic island.
A LOT of western business shut down this year, i personally know more than 10 only here that closed due to
lack of income and other problems.
(hire 8 Thai people for a business visa... come on! this is not Canada!)
What are they doing there ?
