    Your entitlement is showing.

Nonsense. If you have legally obtained a visa or extension (such as you with your LTR), expecting that the IO you're dealing with knows about your visa and how to process your entry isn't "entitled". It's a perfectly reasonable expectation in line with their job description. They expect me to show up at certain times, fill in certain forms and supply certain documents as well. Reasonable expectations!

  2. If you're visa exempt in Vietnam, you could consider basing yourself there for your travels around Southeast Asia instead. They certainly wouldn't have any issue with the pattern of entries you describe, and as an added benefit, you wouldn't need to bother with the silly TDAC that often.

I've had my LTR for almost 2 years now and still have issues sometimes with very long wait times while the officers process it.  With the amount of flip-flopping and changes the government pushes on the immigration officers, I pity them.  Not only do they have to navigate constantly changing and sometimes archaic rules and laws, they also have to deal with entitled people that think they shouldn't have to show certain requirements or even their visa in order to enter.

Come on, any supermarket cashier gets to see a lot more entitled people than them, and the prices change daily. No sympathy from me, they could have chosen another job if they aren't up for this one.

Hey, just to clarify — I'm using my account to help other people, not asking for myself.
This isn’t about the same person or case you’ve replied to before on the FTV post.
It’s a different situation, different people — I just try to speak in first person when asking so the answers are more direct and easier for them to follow.

I'm not trying to mislead anyone or push any agenda.
Just trying to help folks who aren’t in the forum or don't feel comfortable posting themselves.

If you find that pathetic, that’s your take — no hard feelings.
Honestly, I have no clue how it could come across that way, but I get that everyone has their own standards for what’s credible.
    Appreciate the space regardless.

Maybe try to get a gig as a comedian, but please don't forget to get a proper visa and work permit if you wish to pursue this.

As to your OP, that sounds completely unrealistic. It will cost you a lot more than 20k especially if you want to have the initial Non-Ed visa issued locally.

  5. People who aren't even in the country legally rarely get bail. Even if there were no other charges, they'd be held pending deportation.

In this case, with multiple criminal charges plus overstay, you'd need a lawyer who's a miracle worker plus unlimited funds for that lawyer to splash around. Unless the defendant has some serious money, he's well and truly screwed.

Unsure of recovery period DrJ, but 30 days won't cover me to my flight home on 18 September. Do 60 day medical extensions exist?

My original plan was to hang out in Laos for a couple of weeks before returning to Thailand.

Medical extensions exist, but they require extensive paperwork from the hospital. So it would be best if you check with the hospital that you plan to use if they have experience dealing with immigration and if they think you qualify for a medical extension based upon the planned medical procedure. Don't take this lightly, to qualify you must actually be unfit to travel.

IIRC the only thing you can't do is link to your bank account so, unless you have a Thai credit (or possibly debit) card, you have to top-up using cash.

You cannot link a bank account with TrueMoney, but you CAN top up your TrueMoney wallet balance from your mobile banking app. That's what I always do, I've never topped it up with cash.

I've saved my TrueMoney wallet number as a favorite, takes seconds to top up.

Does CW do the bit where you bring in the TM-30 "printout" showing you are registered, but that only gets you through the "TM-30 desk, where they transfer the info to a "form," which they staple in your passport?

If so, the solution is to go to that desk first, and then with their little form-piece in-hand, do any other business.

They don't do that at CW, at least it isn't the norm.

It took around 30 minutes which I was happy with, especially since it looked like the customer service rep had never gone through the process with a foreigner.

What on Earth are they doing 30 minutes long? Even someone unfamiliar with the process should be able to snap a picture and print a new passbook in less than 10 minutes. Did they make you sign (m)any forms?

Can't say I'm looking forward to that visit!

Sauer also argued that certain migrants, particularly those convicted of violent crimes, could not be returned to their countries of origin because those governments refused to accept them

I think the US government should put a lot more pressure on those foreign governments that refuse to accept their own citizens back. Why they can get away with it is anyone's guess.

This problem of deporting people to a 3rd country would completely go away if it was understood that each and every country cannot refuse to accept its own citizens.

I imagine the success stories here are either before changes in policy took place or due to different offices interpreting it differently. The phang nga office did also say "the policy of our office is... " so I imagine in the backwaters of a place like Nan or similar you might have a better chance.

I guess some offices just jumped the gun on this, when they didn't understand the DTV yet. They've probably received a clarification from Bangkok in the meantime, so the days of getting 5-year DLs on a DTV should be over all across Thailand nowadays.
