  1. If you enjoy staying in Vietnam, spending more time there and less time in Thailand would be worth considering. Effective August 15th, that will get easier, as Vietnam will bring back the 3-month multi-entry tourist visa.
  2. That seems to be interpreted differently by different IOs - as we've seen reported here. I wouldn't give someone who's using a multi-entry visa the advice that they don't have to file a new TM30 notification when they return from a border bounce, that really seems to be hit and miss.
  3. Not sure what you mean. The permission of stay expires when your extension expires, the re-entry permit doesn't change that date. When re-entering with a multi-entry visa, on the other hand, you get a new permission to stay, with a new expiration date (60 days in the case or a multi-entry tourist visa).
  4. No. When you re-enter Thailand using a multi-entry visa, you obtain a new permission to stay.
  5. He'd probably doze off before all the votes have been counted.
  6. Funny, considering that he pretty much single-handedly created this mess. If Thailand blows up, he really doesn't have anyone else to blame.
  7. What a shameful state of affairs.
  8. RIP, very saddening. Koh Tao in the spotlight again. Whatever the truth may be, there's definitely something sinister about the place.
  9. There have been reports confirming that this is indeed what they want to see. It's a nonsensical requirement, but you will have to meet it - their application process, their rules.
  10. Calling the senators "rubbish"... I admire their moderation and restraint.
  11. Nice one. Any explanation of HOW they ended up with all that wealth? Didn't think so.
  12. Their absence is indefensible. If they had any honor whatsoever, they would all step down, as they can't even perform the duty they were undeservingly given.
  13. Those "senators" are a total disgrace and have failed their country. I don't see any happy outcome from such a meeting.
  14. You basically pay more (a VFS service charge) and still have to show up at immigration to get your stamp, so I'd guess most people just don't see any benefit. Just to avoid the queue, you can simply make an appointment.
  15. Works fine for me. They did require me to upload an additional KYC document at some point though. Chat with them to find out what's amiss?
  16. I'd get clean $100 bills in Thailand (readily available) and exchange them for Cambodian riel in Cambodia. Small denomination dollar bills are on their way out, in rural areas it's best to have riel.
  17. They could start with introducing a criminal records check. Some of those retirees probably have criminal records as thick as a phone book back home, and filtering them out would be easy. I've never understood why this isn't a requirement for ALL longterm visas and extensions.
  18. I'm not convinced that "most people" get what the problem is, if they really think that all it takes is more rounds of voting. I'd daresay that if a recalcitrant senator couldn't be convinced to vote for Pita in the first round, he will be very unlikely to change his mind at this point. The BJT party also clearly seems to embrace their "mission", so where will the required extra votes come from?
  19. Waffling about "belief" does very little if anything to convince people that they're doing their job with the diligence and integrity required.
  20. He would be pretty much the worst that could happen, another round of lost years for Thailand.
  21. If you get a new passport in the UK, you will enter Thailand with your new passport AND your invalidated old passport, which will allow you to use the re-entry permit in the latter. That's the best option. You would be able to enter with your "almost full" passport if need be, but if your new passport is delayed and you unexpectedly have to travel again, you might have a problem later on.
  22. This country looks more FUBAR by the day. What a sad state of affairs. Predictable outcome, but saddening nonetheless.
  23. He should know better than assuming that logic and reason will prevail. Sadly.
  24. Outlandish, and not something I would wish on Thailand to actually materialize. Wasn't their plan to focus on quality over quantity? They seem to have realized that they cannot attract enough "quality tourists".
