Instead of getting a tourist visa you could go to Savannakhet Laos and get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage with no financial proof.

For a single entry tourist visa Vientiane Laos is good location but you need to make an appointment about two weeks in advance. You only need your passport, plus a copy of the photo page, Lao entry stamp and a completed application form.

Other locations nearby require proof of 20k baht in a bank account and possibly a ticket out of the country.

The big change at the embassy in London is that after the 15th of next month you may have to submit your application online. It is not clear yet what will be required when that goes into effect.

Quick one. Someone suggested a couple of years ago that a Non O Muti entry could be got in Ho Chi Min, Vietnam? Any updates on this?

Thanks for the reply, Just been reading up on the new system in London. Looks interesting!

Think I will just go ahead and get to Savannakhet for a years visa until the London Embassy sorts itself out and we are able to get a clearer understanding of how it will work!

Will probably never be clear how it works if history is anything to go by!

I haven't needed to get a tourist Visa for may years in the region. I know it all changes so fast in regards to where they can be got and what is required. Can someone tell me what is the easiest (most painless and quick) place to get one with in the local region.

I just need a couple of extra months before I return to the UK, when I am there I will be applying to get my usual Non O Multi in London.

Just on the off chance If anyone is reading this and could let me know the latest requirements in London for a Non O Multi based on Marriage? Previously it's been very easy and all I have needed to show as my marriage cert, Spouse ID card copy, completed form and fee (125 pounds).

I have read recently that over 50's require health insurance for visa now? I am 48 so I assume it will not be required?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. I am sure I saw an article about 3 months ago saying that there is now no limit on the amount of Out/In border runs someone can do. Did seem strange to me at the time, but strange things happen here reference the Visa / rules to stay situation, I have just learnt to go with it.

Although I was reading a post sent to me today saying that there are limits on them still?

    Anyone?

  5. Well. After discovering this topic and trawling through all I can say is. Why didn't the directive state, (even just in brackets) that the 'money in the bank' method remains the same. Would have saved alot of people here stressing and saved a shit load of unnecessary reading.

So many times new Visa rules have been launched that just need an extra sentence to clarify things.

But this is Thailand and that's the way it always seems to happen.

    Oh well.

  6. I shall be visiting London and when I am due to go back to Thailand I will still have two months remaining on my current O class visa. Is it allowed at the London Consulate to apply for a new one year multi whilst there is still a valid one in my passport? I assume it is but doesn't hurt to double check.

Second quick question just to conform nothing has changed. Just a marriage visa and a signed copy of the wife's ID card needed as paperwork?

I know how things can change and don't want a wasted journey to find out that they have.

    Regards.

  7. Did the out ,/ in at Mai Sai today successfully on the O class multi entry.

On the new entry stamp the immigration wrote "ed" . Does any one have any idea what this means?

It's my second out/in in a row, I did it last time at the same point of entry, I'm now getting paranoid and wondering if it means "entry denied" if I try to do another out/in.

So has anyone got an idea what it means?

  8. I am presently on a Non 'O' class multiple entry. I have not needed to do a border run in a very long time as I have had to leave the country to work anyway before my 90 days are up.

I am going to be here for more than 90 days this trip and I want to do a border run out/in at a land border crossing (Mai Sai.)

I know these rules change here periodically,  so can anyone confirm to me that I am able to do an out/in on my 'O' class Multiple?

  9. I am aware that if you are arriving in Thailand on a "visa exempt" you are required to show an onward travel plan. This was often checked by airlines to allow you to board before the flight to Thailand. (Not always.)

A friend of mine recently checked in for an Emirates flight from Tunisia to BKK. It was a one way, and he would have been visa exempt. He had an onward ticket to Hong Kong as a final destination. (On a separate booking, but again with Emirates.)

Emirates apparently refused the onward ticket, and told him that a ticket back to his home country was required. (UK)

He apparently managed to board in the end after speaking to a manager and signing some sort of "waiver" form.

Is this a new rule? if so seems a bit harsh, especially as he doesn't live in UK anyway...

Can anyone shed some light on this?
